I personally really enjoyed season 6. It was one of my favorite seasons next to season 7, and Angel season 5. The trio brought a liteness to the Buffy series. That extra comedy of bumbling "criminals".

Through all 5 previous seasons it was all about fighting demons and gods and cyborgs. She never really had to deal with real people. The main reason they posed a threat to her is because they aren't demons. Buffy can't kill people. She can beat them to a pulp, but not kill them. Because of this, it helps to bring that extra sledgehammer down on your head at the end when Willow skins Warren alive and kills him.

I love the episodes in season 6 where the trio puts Buffy through their trials. The mummy hand trial was by far the funniest. And then there's when Buffy becomes invisible. Also a very funny episode.

Well I think it's time I "Got the freeze-ray out of here."

So far so good!

I also jumped on the Buffy bandwagon for the very first time recently after reading this thread & hearing how good it was from others. Right now, I'm almost done with Season 2 (2 1/2 eps left). The show has definitely gotten better since S1 (which I thought was just meh), although there are a few eps in S2 that didn't do much for me. The eps w/Spike & Drusilla are definitely some of the better ones.

I just found out that Principal Snyder (Quark from STS9!) knows about the Hellmouth, which would explain why all these deaths/supernatural phenomenon isn't making a big impact in the community. It kind of bothered me that no one else seemed to think it was a big deal that all these kids/teachers keep dying at the school.

And the whole Xander-Cordelia relationship seemed REALLY out of character for both at the beginning, but has become more "natural" as it developed.

Also before Angel->Angelus, there was entirely TOO much kissing going on between the two of them IMO.

The eps with the gang & Ms. Calendar dealing with Angelus have been some of the best so far. I also like trying to catch all the literary/cultural references that are thrown in every episode.

Can't wait to get to S4 so I can start watching Angel as well.

I remember catching a glimpse of Buffy a long time ago when it was airing on TV, and always thought from the opening credits that she could transform into a cat.

I wish I could be a new viewer again. BTW, if you are digging this you absolutely must check out Veronica Mars asap. Also, Alias is a good bet as well because of the action and serialized nature of the series (cliffhangers after nearly every episode in the first season). Two very different shows, both with great leads and great overall cast.

Buffy COULD have turned into a cat (spoilers for season two)
Spoiler:
if she'd bought a cat costume (but, you know, better than Cordelia's) in the 'Halloween' episode.
or (spoilers for season three)
Spoiler:
if Amy had turned her into one instead of a rat in 'Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered.'
So many missed opportunities for feline-based humor.

Absolutely. I totally wish I could go back and watch every episode over again, not knowing what was going to happen next. It's like a brand new present every time you watch another episode.

Spike is definitely my favorite character. He delivers some of the best oneliners out of both the Buffy and Angel series.

Spike: "You made a bear!"
Buffy: "I didn't mean to."
Spike: "Undo it... UNDO IT!!"

"My sodding sleeping chair's bloody... sodden."

"It's a big rock. Can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big."

XANDER: "So, uh ... think I should run and get Buffy?"
XANDER: "I'm gonna run and get Buffy."
XANDER: "Or maybe you could fight him."
SPIKE: "Yeah, I could do that, but I'm paralyzed with not caring very much."

Angel: "I'm in a meeting, Spike."
Spike: "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't care."

I'm amazed that Whedon didn't try to do a Spike series. I think by the end, he was more popular than Angel was.

Oh yay, the lame judgmental "you don't like it because you just don't get it" response.

Great way to make sure that I don't even bother to read the rest of what you have to say.

I didn't say all. I said some. If you don't like it you don't like it and that's fine. However, certain complaints lead me to believe SOME people didn't really get it all. I appreciated the season more the second time around on DVD. Much better than watching live on TV.

I wish he did. That would've been great. I assume he just didn't want to do

Spike is definitely the single most popular character in both verses. Every poll I've seen regarding favorite character had Spike leading the entire pack. He deserves his own spinoff. Hell, I'd take a spinoff with just about any character on both shows if Whedon created it.

I agree. I can't think of a character spin-off that I wouldn't watch. Except one with Kendra... She's the only character I couldn't really stand.
Spoiler:
Luckily she got killed off, so there's no chance of that happening.

I read a really cool fanfic somewhere where Kendra gets pulled out of the "Dopplegangland" universe and rejoins the Buffy team.

Well, seeing as you chose to say it in response to my post, that sorta makes it look like you're referring to me.

I just can't buy your explanation for it. It took an exceptional amount of coincidences and ignorance on the part of Buffy and the Scoobies for all of this to happen, which flies in the face of the strength they had shown in the previous 5 seasons. One person, even two having a lapse, I can understand. ALL of them at the same time, though?

Now if Warren had become his vicious self sooner, if Jonathan and the other dweeb didn't act like sissyboys as much, maybe it would have been more believable... but this was like watching the Keystone Kops.

Now since I never saw the show in first-run, maybe I'm wrong here... but the way season 5 ended, it looked like Whedon was planning on ending the series. So it appears that he suddenly went "oh shit, we have to do another season... what now?" The last two seasons really felt like they were just going through the motions and making things up on the fly.

That's not to say some good things didn't come out of it. The ep "Once More With Feeling" kicked my ass, and I even had my friends that weren't Buffy fans watching it and laughing.

OK, now that I'm done watching Buffy, I'm re-watching Angel. Thanks to DVD's and the fact that Buffy wasn't in syndication in my area but Angel was, I actually saw all 5 seasons of Angel before seeing one episode of BtVS.

Question - season 2, Lindsey is in Caritas singing. According to EpGuides.com, the song is "L.A. Song," but is it available anywhere?

The 'rock' quote is one of the best in all of Buffy. The delivery was perfect! What episode was the first quote from? About the bear?

You're partly right. They knew that The WB was going to drop them after season five, so Joss came up with a season finale that could have been an end to the show. When they were picked up by UPN for a sixth season, he got a chance to continue the story. I actually think that the last two seasons were two of the show's best.

Yep. It's avalible on Angel: Live Fast, Die Never - Music from the TV Series.

Well, they knew that UPN were willing to pick up the show for two more years long before the WB officially dropped it. (spoiler for season five)
Spoiler:
I have a hard time with the finale of season five as a show finale; Buffy killing herself to save the world would have been one thing, but to kill herself to save a new characters that had just been introduced recently? It might have been an ending, but (for me, anyway) it would have been a terrible one.

Speaking of series endings... What is everyones opinion on the Angel finale. Personally, I loved it.
Spoiler:
Ending with everybody doing what they do best. Going out in the fight of all fights.

I really wish Joss would make either some kind of miniseries or even motion picture for Angel. Just to see how it all ended up. Even a Spike movie would be flippin' sweet.

Joss was planning on a Spike movie, probably also starring Illyria. Back in May, Amy Acker confirmed in an interview that it probably wasn't going to happen now.

“I think its safe to say that’s not happening anymore,” Acker told fans at the Starfury event, “'cause if they were, they’d be getting done right now. There was supposed to be three of them –- one for Spike, a Faith one and also one for Willow. I think it's safe to say that now because its not going to happen.”... Acker said, the projects never took off because “Fox couldn’t get it together the way Joss wanted to do them.”
Bummer.

As I understand the situation (pieced together from various possibly unreliable comments and interviews), what Joss wanted was a four-part mini-series (90 minutes each), with a continuing storyline that centered on each of the four characters. (q: would they each have been sold on separate DVDs or collected on a single one? hmmm....yet one more pointless thing to ponder) Fox, however, only wanted to spring for the 'Spike' one as a made-for-TV movie, and would only then green-light the others if the ratings (and DVD sales?) warranted it. The big problem there is that the script would have needed a conclusion that didn't require the three others. On top of that, only Spike and Illyria officially signed on. Willow was pursuing her sitcom ambitions (first 'Americana', then HIMYM. let's just pretend that 'Date Movie' never happened, m'kay?) and Faith was reluctant to agree until she knew when/if it would be filmed, seeing as how she was now focusing on live theatre.

Add to that the problem that Fox would only agree to the whole thing (there REALLY seemed to be NO enthusiasm from the network unless Buffy or Angel were to make an appearance) if they could promote Joss Whedon's name front and centre, and he was far more concerned with 'Wonder Woman' and 'Goners' (and the 'X-Men' comic book). He was pushing to just oversee the project(s?) and have David Fury, Marti Noxon, Jane Espenson, Drew Goddard actually write it (them?).

I don't think it's too much of as assumption to just believe that there was far more enthusiasm from the fans than from the producers, writers or actors.

So all we're left with to look forward to are the 'Buffy Season Eight' comic books. Soon come. Nice drawings, but no pretty actors. And, unless you read REALLY slowly, they won't last for 17 hours.

A little off topic, but still related... Where, and when does one buy said "Buffy Season 8" Comic Books?

This coming from a fan who has never owned, a comic book before.

I'm not sure what the status is of the Buffy comics. All I know is that they're coming from Dark Horse Comics. Solicitations have been made to comic shops for all books coming out between now and November, so December is the earliest you can expect them.

As for where to get them, grab your phone book and look under Comic Book Shops in the yellow pages. They'll be able to help you out.

Here's a question for those who have already seen season six:

Spoiler:
What SHOULD Willow have done with Warren? If it was so wrong for her to kill him herself, what were her other options? It's not as if she could have handed him over to the DA. Even if the cops could have held him (you'd think if there was one city in the country that had a police force equipped to handle magickal powers, it'd be Sunnydale, but no.) he could easily have cast a spell over the jury. Plus, how could the prosecution explain Buffy being shot in the chest, and then walking around later that same day? And how come the cops never found Tara's body, just lying open on the bedroom floor? Didn't anbody check the crime scene? The case has so many holes in it, they'd probably never even go to trial. Even the worst court-appointed atorney could have gotten Warren off. And it's not as if, after the events with Faith, anyone trusts the Watcher's Council or their operatives. And you KNOW that, once he's out, he'd kill Dawn and Xander and Anya, and probably Willow and Buffy, too.

So, how SHOULD Willow have dealt with Warren?
