Just saw his appearance on Conan this week...and now he's gone - pretty shocking. Never good when someone dies so suddenly, he was still alive and tweeting a few hours ago too - http://twitter.com/realbillymays RIP.

From the sounds of it... he was on an airplane yesterday and a piece of luggage fell on his head pretty hard.
Sounds like a bleeding brain to me.
Is it bad that I am more broken up about Billy Mays than Michael Jackson? I loved his Pitchmen show. sigh.

I read another article that he was on a turbulent flight yesterday and may have bumped his head. His wife said he was complaining of being sick after the flight. It will be interesting to see if that played a part or led to his death.

Am I right in thinking that next week's was the last episode of the season? I thought it was for 13 episodes and I actually wondered if it would get renewed. Just watched the Conan show on Hulu a couple of days ago too. We liked making fun of him (see the Jaboody dubs), but I will be sad to see him go. Wonder how Sully is taking it?

Wow, that really sucks; I can't believe that if he hit his head and was complaining of feeling sick, that he didn't go to the hospital. That's what happened with Natasha Richardson and the Midwestern parents of some little girl remembered her so they were lucky to catch the hemorrhage.

Very surreal, my wife and I watched an episode of Pitchmen last night before bed and woke to news that Mays had died. We were a few episodes behind, but I can't imagine either of us will feel like "catching up" now.

According to the medical examiner, Mays died of heart disease.
As for the show, Discovery is going forward with the planned all-day marathon tomorrow (with never-before-seen footage) and tomorrow night's finale (with a graphic mentioning his death).

Great final episode
I wonder if the show will come back for a second season? Also there is another tribute episode tomorrow night.

Good finale. It was a bit weird how they mixed the first few scenes speaking about him in the present tense with the last bits of footage, and some awkward lines were in there (Billy Mays is living the good life..), but it was a good show.
I wonder if they'll announce next week if they are going to keep doing it next year or not. Part of the appeal of the show for me was seeing all the new inventions, and I think Sully could still pull that off. Whether he would want to is beyond me.

Enjoyed the finale. Been watching the marathon all day. It was a nice way to end the season and pay tribute to Billy.
If they come back for another year, maybe it'll be a mix of new inventions and trying to find the next great pitchman.

All the awkwardness I felt at the beginning when they were showing Billy's amazing life was made up at the end with that touching tribute.

DSC ran an ad for a full-on Mays tribute show on July 9th. I'm looking forward to that. The package at the end of the finale was superb.

I enjoyed the finale as well. I'll have to record next week's tribute show.
Did anyone catch Anthony's line, I think it was in the next to last episode, where he said Billy looked like he was fixing to have a heart attack. That was a little awkward

^Especially with Shark Tank coming up.. and I believe BBC is still running their inventor's show, too.
I've also noticed an resurgence of Shamwow and Slapchop commercials.

Re: 'Pitchmen' on Discovery
I saw an episode of Pitchmen practically the week before he died. I hadn't ever put any thought into the guy, didn't even know his name, till I told a bunch of people to check out the show that week. It feels like I just lost a new friend.
