I liked this, but I feel like they rushed too quickly into the resistance/lizard people plot. I'm kind of interested in what would happen in the three weeks following an alien visitation that they unceremoniously skipped over.

Good start. I wish they went with a two hour movie for the premier, but this was decent. So far this is better than Flash Forward.

I suspect we will get some backstory. The resistance was obviously built up before tonight's episode, so it wasn't really that fast of a leap for the show.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Not a bad start. Can definitely see a lot of the similarities to the old series as far as characters (the asshole son that joins up, the news reporter chosen to be the trusted face of the V's, etc).

This pilot did seem quite rushed though. They tried to cram too much into the first episode rather than letting the suspicions build up to the big reveal.

I'm also not liking the added part of the story where the V's have been among us for years, causing all the world's wars and disasters. I would have much rather had them just show up and have the distorted voices.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Judging from the teasers:

Spoiler:
they might be going for another starchild type story, except with a human dad and a lizard mom (being Mitchell's son and that blonde visitor) . I hope not, but they seem to be quick in launching that interspecies love arc.

I have to give props to Morenna, she played someone who by all appearances was nice, but had a great sense of evil about her as well. This show seems to benefit from having both decent effects and actors, so we will have to see if the writing holds up over the coming weeks.

EDIT: I also agree about the Visitors being the cause of wars and such, that's kind of too much conspiracy theorist stuff.

Great start, several of my friends and I "twittered" about it afterward, general consensus is that we are ready for more. Even my wife, who did not even know it was on, enjoyed the whole thing. We actually recorded NCIS to watch this as it aired. That's a first.

We saw the first when it originally aired in the 80s, and enjoyed that version as well.

So Hillary Clinton really is a reptilian and healthcare reform is part of the plan to take over the world?

I was thinking about that, but I also think they had to get to the lizard reveal in the first episode. Everyone watching pretty much knows they are going to be lizards, so why stretch it out?

I enjoyed this a lot - brought a lot of memories of the original back. I loved that show and this looks like a fun replacement.

I was a fan of the original and I really enjoyed tonight's show. It was great to see Elizabeth Mitchell in the lead.

Wait, so no member of the decade long alien infiltration of all aspects of society has ever been to the doctor or had an autopsy performed?!?!!?!?

Its like they tried to cram 15 episodes into a 1 hour pilot.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

I'm interested in watching more, which is a good sign I guess because I barely watch any TV other than The Office.

And I kind of liked the incorporation of the reptilian conspiracy into the show. Now my question is was the reptilian conspiracy around BEFORE the original V?

I liked the pilot it was bit rushed. It would have been better if it was a two hour pilot.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Wow, that was really good; I'm glad they went straight for the reveal that they are lizards, that people are sympathizing with them, and that there are dissidents within the Vistors' ranks. Those are all of the well known aspects of V and to linger on them would be a waste.

I really enjoy the sleeper cell angle and the human-history conspiracy because it allows a greater arc as to why the dissidents change sides as opposed to the original V where it was based on issues solely from their world.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

they did rush a lot of the original ideas into one episode, but i guess it's a way to quickly establish the dynamic of the show and they hopefully will get into more depth as it unfolds, but they wanted to get the basics down quickly to grab the audience now.

i realize that they would want to update from a ww2 story to post 9/11, but the upside "hope" storyline is a stretch - they could have still used the depth of the ww2 allegory with a modern terrorist angle.

In any case, it's got a lot of promise and I look forward to the ride.

I was hoping that backstory was going to some how be linked to the original series.

Ugh... disappointed they killed off...

Spoiler:
Alan Tudyk

...so quickly.

Other than that, I enjoyed it. It was an interesting premise executed fairly well. I finally have show on Tuesday to watch!

Yeah I really liked this. We had the Hot Brazilian V Leader, Supergirl, and a Brothah with Scales. I LOVED the ship's large screen.

I'm interested in where the Priest/FBI Agent thing goes.....

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

This would have worked better as a 2 hour premiere, or maybe even just an extra 10 minutes to flesh out some of the initial reaction to their arrival. It's an interesting concept and I don't know how it will do as a series. The original worked great as a mini but fell flat as a series.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Never seen the original but I loved this one. There were a few things that were disappointing though:

- as mentioned the whole thing felt rushed. In the opening minutes the aliens arrive and 15 minutes in the entire planet is worshipping them?
- the score was weak. There were 1 or 2 spots where it was decent but otherwise very forgettable
- Scott Wolf is terrible. I wish him and Alan Tudyk had reversed roles since it seems Alan is only a guest star and won't be sticking around.(he deserves a recurring role on a good show) Other than that the casting is excellent.

On the bright side Morena's hair actually fit in this role.

Lastly where do I know Val from? (black guy's fiance) She looks VERY familiar. One of those, "I'll kick myself" when somebody tells me things.

Hard to say...Lourdes Benedicto has been a regular/semi-regular in quite a few things: NYPD Blue, Titans, ER, Dawson's Creek, 24, The Nine, Cashmere Mafia, and that's not counting all the one shot guest spots.

Re: "V" -- New Series -- "Pilot" -- Premieres 11/03/09

Much more shallow than the original miniseries. Okay, that's saying something when referring to a show about space lizards disguised as humans coming to steal our water and then eat us, but the original was, of course, an allegory of fascism and the Nazis. Having the "V" painted symbols as a result of internet viral videos is soooooooo much less compelling than the scene in the original that I remember so well-- teens defacing Visitor propaganda posters-- old Jew who was survivor of concentration camps stops the kid tells him "no, this is how you do it" (paraphrasing), guides his hand to make the V for victory. And everyone calling them "Vees" really grates at me. It is V 90120. Or maybe Melrose V.
