I am a little disappointed that they caught Jack so quickly, he seems pretty badass.
I also am interested to see what happens when a guard shows up.

I am of the same opinion of a lot of people here:
- Sarah Jones = hot, if they show was just her running around and bending over constantly, I would fell like I would need to pay for it
- This is is almost identical to Fringe
- The pay off for where they are going will NEVER live up to the hype
- The prisoner of the week might get old quick
- Has Lost written all over it, IE too many questions not nearly enough answers
However, all that being said, it is well produced and has my interest since I don't have anything I watch regularly in that time slot.

I actually liked it. It should be getting canceled any day now. Or it will last 6 years and the writers will have no idea what they are doing and the last episode will ruin the entire series. Anyways I will continue to watch. Sarah Jones is hot as mentioned above.

I thought it was ok. Really want more mythology though. Less on the killer-of-the week stuff/ Sam NIell is cool on here though,

'Alcatraz' ratings breakout
"Fox and J.J. Abrams’ new thriller Alcatraz got off to a very solid start Monday night.
The sci-fi crime drama opened to 10 million viewers and a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 in its two-hour premiere. That’s up 6 percent from the debut of Terra Nova in the slot and far better than the performance of Lie to Me on the evening last January. Alcatraz tied ABC’s Revenge as the second-highest rated new fall drama series premiere (Once Upon a Time was tops). Another good sign: Alcatraz aired as a pair of back-to-back episodes and both hours had the same rating, so there wasn’t a noticeable drop off after people watched the pilot.
The performance of Alcatraz might impact the fate of Terra Nova, a show Fox executives have held off making a decision about they see the performance of their new January dramas (including Bones spinoff The Finder, whose debut last week disappointed). Alcatraz launches a mystery about former prisoners of the infamous prison who’re inexplicably returning to present day after a 50-year disappearance."

Time travelers with an agenda. Mere time warps and such won't fly, because then you can't explain the stuff the prisoners wake up with (keys, cash, information).

I was pretty lukewarm about the show. It just didn't pique my interest too much yet. I'll probably give a try again next week, though, and see what they do with it.

I just don't think you can start off a show heavy in mythology anymore, especially if you're putting "From the makers of Lost" on it. They did the same thing with Fringe and if you watch that the mythology has gotten so thick that even people still watching get confused. I personaly love that level of mythology and if the show sticks around long enough I'm sure it will get there.

Crap. Like all Abrams shows we have the classic situation where the characters never ask the obvious questions. Prisoners disappear, hot detective meets this mysterious stranger who seems to know what's what, but hot detective never bothers to ask mysterious stranger what's what. Standard Abrams modus operandi. I am so done with his shit.

10M viewers and 3.3 is quite impressive, especially with no lead-in. It's going to drop for sure next week, but if it somehow manages to stay about 3.0, Terra Nova is as good as dead. Kiefer's new show Touch has it's work cut out for it when it takes over for Alcatraz in March.

Maybe they can get dirty harry to pop up and start chasing down the criminals, that would make it more interesting

Hurley = Walter (Fringe)
Also, what if Lucy time traveled from the future (today) to the past (1960)? That would be great. Even better if we discover that she starts traveling at the end of the season.
Finally, LOL at me for thinking it was going to be me and a few others liking the hot lead girl.

Yeah, I think it will something like that. Some big corporation/group that started testing time travel, and who better than Alcatraz inmates?

Someone has to be pulling the strings. When Jack was leaving Alcatraz in hour 1, he had a ticket and cash in his coat, so someone obviously planted it there.
Interesting note about Sarah Jones. She's currently dating Theo Rossi (Juice) from Sons of Anarchy.

That's actually not a bad theory about Lucy.

While Visa wasn't founded until 1970, MasterCharge (the predecessor to MasterCard) was created in 1966 and Bank Americard (the predecessor to Visa) predates that. In 1963 he would likely have known what a credit card was even if he (as most people back then) didn't have one himself.

I thought some of the acting from the chick was real bad.. don't know if it was bad writing, or she just sucks.. but I'm not a big fan of her.
I think I will watch one more episode but JJ burned me, and we all know he will do it again - so if you like watching "catch the killer of the week" this will be a great show.

I agree. Plus, a time traveling show without dinosaurs is a lot cheaper to produce than a time traveling show with dinosaurs. Not that I will miss Terra Nova, I had to grind out the last few episodes.

I kept thinking of LOST, too. The music was distracting sometimes - the characters would be having a simple conversation, and the music would signal that something Mysterious! or Dramatic! is happening! It got irritating.

I am annoyed at some of the bad writing. For example, when the first inmate said he received instructions to kill that guy, nobody asked "Did you receive those instructions orally or in writing? Can you describe who gave them to you?"
One thing I don't get: why these people are obeying orders. You're alive, still young, out of prison, and 50 years in the future. You are not personally contacted by anybody, nor so far as you can tell is anybody tailing you to ensure compliance (and you don't know about modern surveillance tech). Why not "disappear" and live happily ever after?

Saw the first half last night and thought it was pretty good. Definitely not something that hasn't been done before in some form though.
Why does it not surprise me that over half the comments in this thread are about Sarah Jones' bouncy boobies?

As much as I like this show, I strongly suspect it's walking dead.
1) It's a mystery, which Nielsen viewers typically don't like
2) It's being put on hiatus for a couple of months beginning in early March. Basically, give the show some time to build a little bit of momentum, then cut it off at the knees. The best way to grow a show's audience.
