I agree with Slop.

There have been many episodes that were dull - not necessarily because they didn't kill many walkers, but just the dialog and happenings and the way it was paced.

The show can be "fun" to watch (when it's not being dragged down) but it can be pretty shallow. The moral conflicts are there but are essentially repetitive.
The writing isn't that strong with the characters doing dumb things that make little sense in the situations they're in. This isn't anywhere near the quality level of writing as Breaking Bad or Mad Men.

I guess he could have put the money in the car before he went to the bar, but I assumed that Walt thought that the money was useless. I figured that plan A was to go to the bar, call Flynn and tell him the plan. If that didn't work, plan B was to call ABQ DEA. I don't know if he would have had considered plan C before leaving his cabin, but maybe he did.

At least we saw Walt assembling the contraption.

He stole the car at the bar, so he obviously drove back to the cabin to get the money.

This was the hardest part for me to digest. The rigged device took out an entire gang --- all of them except Todd. I just found that to be eye rolling. That said, I give it a pass because it was cool as hell and a means to an end... but so many things had to fall into place for Walt's plan to work... including Todd bringing Jesse directly to Walt so they could prove something so insignificant.

One thing I'm not clear on is why the presences of blue meth meant that Jesse had to be cooking again.

In his "Say My Name" speech to Declan, he says his blue meth is classic coke, and that Declan puts blue coloring in his to mimic.

Why couldn't the presence of blue meth mean someone else is using blue dye?

Because Skinny Pete and Badger specifically said it was "better than ever." If it was just blue dye, they wouldn't have made that comment. They're junkies. They know good shit when they smoke it.

But Walt wouldn't have known that in New Hampshire.

One thing that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned is that the reason Walt is shot is because he was on top of Jessie. Had he not jumped on Jessie and just hit the floor prone he would never have been hit. Walt literally took a bullet for Jessie.

I understand the "complaints" that the ending was Hollywood, but so what? Gilligan knew fans wanted an ending that felt totally satisfying, and real life rarely provides those moments. I was grinning ear to ear watching Walt's device take out every scumbag Nazi in the room, save for the two guys we need alive for a bit longer to add impact to their deaths. Gilligan did a tremendous job of wrapping up everything, for every character, without leaving us guessing or questioning much.

Except poor Huell, still sitting in that hotel room.

I thought he got nailed by a ricochet. From where they were laying compared to the holes in the walls (and grown men taking torso shots), it didn't seem like it would have been a direct hit. In that case, using his body as a shield would have actually been saving Jesse from the bullet vs Walt getting nailed simply by being in the line of fire.

But Charlie Rose said that there were reports of it in the Czech Republic, not just in the Southwest, so that implied that Lydia was involved.

If anyone gives this episode a 1 or zero in the poll I think they should be required to explain it or have it cleared as a troll entry.

Didn't say that. He bled out...just didn't have a "fist sized exit wound".

Military ammo doesn't do that.

Agreed. They also made a point to show his wedding ring again (now tied with twine around his neck) in the finale as well.

I noticed that. Considering he has never posted in a Breaking Bad thread ever before I think some explanation is called for.

Almost a suicide by Jesse. Liked it, even though I would have preferred to see Jesse in shackles.

When Jesse was driving away, I thought we might get an ending similar to "The Wages of Fear" where he's so exhilarated at surviving that he... well, I'll stop there for those that haven't seen it.

In 4 Days Out Jesse suggests Walt build a robot to save them when they're stranded in the RV.

In Felina, Walt saves Jesse's life with what is essentially a gun-firing robot.

A second spinoff titled "Gentle Jesse" will show Jesse living as a peaceful woodworker in the Pacific Northwest.
