Re: Breaking Bad --> Series Finale --> "Felina" --> 9/29/13
Another discussion topic is the question of whether seeing the bleeding is what kept Jesse from shooting Walt or if it was him deciding he was done doing Walt's bidding. See, there are tons of little things people who want to argue can adopt as their cause. That's my main point here.

I don't think Walt is any more evil than food companies that sell us unhealthy cheeseburgers and other food items for profit or the heads of oil companies laughing to the bank while the average citizen struggles to pay for gas to get to work.

And Walt was very morally culpable in many instances throughout the show

Idea for a movie: City Slickers III: The Legend of Heisenberg's Cash.

I understand that but the same argument could be made about using drugs. People make the choice to use it. The fact that it is there doesn't mean you have to smoke it, snort it or shoot it up.

You're really comparing the effects of meth to the effects of cheeseburgers?

I'm not trying to say otherwise. I'm just trying to convince you guys that you're going to be hearing a lot of "but WHAT killed Walter White?" over the next decade.

But I didn't find him morally culpable for manufacturing meth, so much as the actions he did to maintain his interests. Yes they can all be justified to an extent but that doesn't necessarily make them the best action, definitely not the most moral

Re: Breaking Bad --> Series Finale --> "Felina" --> 9/29/13
To me it was perfect and easily one of the best series finales I've seen.
I wasn't sure what exactly Walt had in mind for Gretchen and Elliott but it made sense that he would do that because like he said if they give out money to charities why not give money to what could be viewed by outsiders as a charity case of sorts. Walt screwed up the life of his family and they can't do anything but think that giving him money is the least that they can do. I do wonder what Walt Jr.'s reaction would be. I think Walt can trust them to do as he asked if for no other reason than he scared the living shit out of them.
Really liked the redemption of Walt by saving Jesse before taking out the Nazi's. The death of Walt was cool too. Going back to where it started with him in his lab and the one thing that made him feel alive and for better or worse what will be his legacy.
Jesse killing Todd was great too. He was put through months of hell and was just a prisoner and Todd killing Andrea was just the final thing that I think made Jesse just want to give up for good. I'm sure he thought when Walt was there at the end he was a goner but it was really awesome to see that Walt showed some compassion for once and realized what he's put the kid through and saved him and let him get his revenge. I also liked that Jesse didn't take the final shot to kill Walt. I think no matter how twisted the relationship was between the two there was always a bit of a father/son thing going on between them. The question now is what happens next for Jesse. Obviously it's up to us to decide but I really wonder what his next move would be.
The last scene that Walt and Skyler shared together was nice too. Him finally admitting that he was being selfish and doing what he did for him and not for his family. He was finally honest with her.
I disagree that it should have been longer to me this whole final season has been putting together the end game and this was just the final piece.

Somebody I have read over the past week either said or quoted that Walt is a liar and the person he lies to the most is himself. I wonder when he came to the realization he did it for him. Was it during that scene with Skyler? Was it during his solitude? During the moments when Hank was getting shot or just before he left Holly at the fire station?

I liked how one of the last shots was a "W" in blood on one of the tanks before Walt fell to the floor.
I didn't think it was perfect, or phenomenal at all. I thought it was a fitting ending given where all the characters were. It was a little too neat, but pretty solid overall. I still think these last 8 don't compare in any way to the episodes that preceded it, but the show in my mind is one of the best ever without any doubt.
