Re: Bloodline (Netflix) - Starring Kyle Chandler - From the makers of Damages - 3/20/
I finished it. It definitely gets better, but I most likely would not have stuck with this watching week to week.
I liked that even though they showed that
I would check out a second season.
Linda Cardellini looked good in those mini skirts and wedges.

I'm on the ninth episode and while I'm enjoying it, I don't know if it would qualify as "must see" for me. The character of Danny is just so completely unlikeable and unsympathetic that I'm actually looking forward to his death. I mean, it sucks what his dad did to him as a kid, but taking it out on his siblings all these years later because they were scared little kids and lied is just pathetic.

I finished the season last night. Overall, it the slow narrative and flashbacks and flash forwards worked out well in the last two episodes. I liked the cliffhangers involving one minor character tied to the family's past that was seen in earlier episodes and a very new minor character.
Even thought it was a very minor role, I did like Mia Kirshner as

Renewed for a 2nd season
I haven't had the time to watch this yet, but after my schedule starts getting lighter this summer, I'll try to take this on.

Good to hear the news. I hope season 2 does well when it comes to the storyline. There was an article published last week that touches on how season 2 might be a problem because of the season 1 ending.
Spoilers in the article, if you have seen the whole season

As far the TV-MA sort of content, is the adult language/violence/nudity etc. something you would see on HBO/Showtime or more along the lines of something on FX or AMC?
I guess what I'm asking is, would this show be R-rated?

Watched the first episode last night and it has just enough to keep me watching. If it wasn't a Netflix show then I wouldn't see myself waiting another week for an episode so that has that going for it.
Plus with summer coming up it'll give me something to watch once my regular shows are over and done with (except GoT, Orphan)

It's more like HBO/Showtime and would be considered R rated.

Yeah, it's definitely more HBO/Showtime than FX/AMC. Honestly, it's distinctly Netflix. In the short amount of time they've been doing original shows, they've definitely developed an identity for better or worse.

Finished the season.
I thought it was decent enough.
The one thing I didn't care for was the constant flash-forward at the beginning of most episodes and then elsewhere in the episodes. It was neat when they did it in Damages, but then it got annoying after the first season - and the concept is ruined for me in any show.
I'm not sure I see the big deal with the reveal at the end. Other than the fact that the kid saw some of what John/Kevin did - I don't see how him being Danny's kid will make it all that interesting. The show kind of painted itself into a corner in that they really don't have anywhere credible to go. In fact, half-way through the season I couldn't see how this could've been stretched out into more than 1 season as it was.

Just started watching this and am 3 episodes in. Ben Mendelson is an unlikable piece of shit. Hell, his family, for the most part, is shitty. Bloody hell, I hope it gets better, because it's irritating so far.

This is one of those shows that I don't really enjoy watching at the time, but find myself thinking about a lot afterward. Which makes it good, I guess.
I've been looking forward to not enjoying watching the second season.

Re: Bloodline (Netflix) - Season 1 Thread - S: Chandler - 3/20/15
OK, I finally finished Season 1 (sorry I'm late to the party in getting Netflix). I have to say that I never found the show as slow as many of my friends complained about. It built and built and built like every show and the last 3-4 episodes is where the shit hit the fan. Isn't that pretty much like every show these days? I have to say I'm suprised by the lack of people posting in this thread as it tells me the show may not be as popular as I thought it was, hence why they are cancelling it after Season 3 (It was just announced last week).
All in all, I loved the show, and every scene with Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelson is pure gold as these guys are highly underrated. Although Mendelson won an Emmy so maybe he is getting his due.
The one thing I'm torn on is Danny's turn to the darkside midway through the season. I thought they would have it play out where he was still misunderstood and didn't need to die, leaving the viewer to question whether Danny or the siblings were right? But Danny had to die because he was never going to stop, so I can't fault John for doing what he did, and eventually the siblings for covering it up. I think the drama may have played out better if there was still some doubt with the viewer as to what the family should do with Danny, but he gave them no choice. Sure Danny was the outcast of the family, and was treated like shit as a kid, but he was sabotaging the family business and their name so he had to go. I think the creators could have made that part alittle more grey for the viewer and let them decide.
Oh well, looking forward to Season 2, but I have a feeling this will be the peak of the show. I loved the first season because they really delved into these characters and fleshed them out like very few shows do. But I worry this will be more about the suspense and revelations in the next 2 seasons because it was probably written for this season's arc.
