I had no idea that Vance is married to Angela Basset until yesterday. I guess it's not surprising that he got the part considering Ryan Murphy's connection to Basset.

I would have cast Michael Dorn as OJ if he was fifteen years younger.

The casting has been pretty good with the exception of Cuba Gooding Jr and John Travolta (who comes off like he's doing a Saturday Night Live skit).

Oh yeah, he's way too old now but he certainly looked the part back in the day. I think you're talking more like twenty years though.

If we had a time machine, we could have gone back only ten years and cast Dennis Haysbert in the role.

Honestly, Terry Crews would have probably been fine come to think of it (don't know if he would have been allowed to do two shows at once; they are both on Fox networks).

MJW isn't a clone of Simpson, but he's a BIG dude. at least I think he is.

I think Cuba is going a good job acting the part. My only complaint is the directors aren't doing anything to make him look bigger and more imposing. They could do things like shoot him from below or put him on a box when he is standing next to other people, etc. I was re-watching the first episode and the shot where they showed him in handcuffs in his backyard was almost laughable at how little he was compared to the other guys.

I am enjoying all the casting. Sterling K Brown as Darden is killing it. I liked him on Army Wives, but his acting here has been a real relevation to me.

Imagine if OJ wasn't in jail and OJ was hired for his own role!

OJ is 6'1"; Cuba Gooding Jr is 5'10". Not a whole lot of difference.

Not like he's playing Shaq.

I know it's not on the same scale, but some dude who got busted for corruption in New Orleans played himself going through that same situation on Treme. Pretty amusing and interesting.

Height isn't the only thing though, OJ was imposing and broad shouldered. Cuba is neither of those, and just looks tired, he also doesn't have the scumbag charisma.

He's doing a decent job acting though, he just doesn't fit the role very well.

Cuba must be "actor-sized" 5'10" which probably means more like 5'8".

Seriously, he looks tiny next to every other man he is in a scene with.

I have DirecTV and it only shows the first 3 episodes on demand. Anyone know why they wait so long to put them on there or if the others will eventually be put up?

My DVR cut off the last episode.

Watched most of this last night. I was 13/14 during the trial. I remember it fairly well but this was great to refresh the actual events.

Re: The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story (FX) -- Series Thread -- 2/2/16

This is a set chair and wrap gift from the producers and creator of the runaway television drama

"American Crime Story - The People Vs OJ Simpson". Also included is an extra large button that was actually used during the court room protest scene in the television show.

Against my advice and wishes my fiancé took a job working at a very high-level position in the production of this drama. For obvious reasons I didn't want her taking the job and we fought about it for months until the show wrapped. The producers and creators gave her this chair as a thank you for working on the show and helping to make it an apparent hit. She brought it home and I said 'no way' is that thing going to be in our house but she said she earned it and that she spent six months of her life in the 'meat grinder' that was that show. She said she dealt with headaches, pre-Madonna's and whiny superstars on a daily basis and that this chair was all she had to show for it so I said 'fine!'. But this week the LAPD found a knife that could be the murder weapon that was buried at OJ's house and I told her 'that's that!' 'Either the chair goes or I go!' So the chair is out and it can be yours if you want it. My thoughts are hopefully that TMZ will buy it and burn it on air! Harvey it's all yours!

As a side note, this additional piece of information might be interesting to people who are into the O.J. Simpson story and television drama. My fiancé told me that Chris Jenner has been all over TV trashing the drama but during the filming of the show she contacted the production multiple times and demanded that she should be the one playing herself on the show. She was told that the story took place in 1994 and she was simply too old for the part! That's Hollywood!

That's what makeup is for. Dye his hair, smooth out his face, voila. Hell if they could make him into an alien... and one thing is for sure, Dorn can project menace a lot better than Cuba.

A fucking chair for working on a cable TV series for 6 months?

Good God, FOX really does have no money if that's all they can afford for their wrap gifts.

Agreed. Brown's Darden is seriously some of the best acting I've seen in the last few years.

In Jan Brady's voice: Marcia! Marcia! Marcia!

I just have to say the gal playing her on the show looks so eerily like her.

The last two episodes have been terrific. I'd say Paulson is a lock for an Emmy nomination. Courtney B. Vance and Sterling K. Brown have been terrific as well. Hopefully, both will get nominations, I have a feeling Vance has a bigger chance due to being more well known.
