That Kardashian dinner was a bit heavy handed.

Clark: "Cochran....Mother Fucker!!" Loved the slow camera move until the F bomb.
Louie has dropped an F bomb in the past, so this isn't out of the ordinary for FX.
Vance was great as Johnnie in this episode. at the crank call.

Evan Handler did a great job. It took me a couple of minutes to pin point who he was because that hair was throwing me off so badly.

So is the show trying to tell us that Robert Kardashian would be completely embarrassed and ashamed to know of what his children have become; entitled, narcissistic, ego driven, fame hungry whores?
I like Cuba and love the effort he put into this role, but he's simply miscast.

I was reading an item on Entertainment Weekly's site and the scene with The Kardashians likely didn't happen and, yes, like the previous scenes, the production is taking a swipe at the family. EW's columnist says the book they're adapting presents Robert Kardashian as something of a sycophant, who may have been clinging to OJ in reaction to his ex-wife's new-found fame pitching Thighmasters with her new husband Bruce Jenner.

FX always fancied itself as a kind of basic cable HBO, so I'm not surprised they push the boundaries as far as the sponsors will let them. I can't imagine a company sponsoring a re-creation of the OJ Simpson case and being offended by an f-bomb or two.

Unreleased TV movie that was supposed to be the pilot for a fall 1994 TV show. It was filmed right before the murders.

Wow. Never knew that was filmed. If not for the murders, maybe ER never makes it to air, George Clooney never becomes a star...
Anyways, this was a fun episode. Think Sarah Paulson is doing an amazing job, as is Courtney B Vance. Didn't like the focus on the Kardashian kids. Yes, they may have enjoyed having their dad in the spotlight, but they're so incidental to the story (and we've barely seen OJ and Nicole's kids so far). I'm looking forward to the stuff with Fred Goldman -- whoever they've tapped to play him (as shown in a preview for upcoming episodes) is a dead ringer. As my wife pointed out during the episode - if not for Fred's hounding him, OJ would be a free (and probably still wealthy) man today.
Wondering what, if any, the rules are for basic cable using the "F-word". Maybe it's changed recently? I know (from reading old Alan Sepanwall episode recaps) that on the occasions they used an F-bomb in Breaking Bad, the sound was dropped from the AMC broadcast (and they were still limited in the amount of times they could use it).

Yeah, there's an interview with Handler about Frogmen from earlier this week:

However, I remember watching an MTV prison special on MTV around 2001, where they straight up had uncensored cursing. F-words all over the place. And it was during regular hours. Probably because it was real life - scared straight shit, but that was pretty surprising to come across.

To answer that question, no, there are no actual regulations on what cable can and cannot show. They are limited by their own rules and what advertisers will and will not support.
Edit: windom beat me to it. Broadcast has some actual rules, but even they can get away with almost anything after 10.

FX let Louie use "fuck" in an episode. He won an Emmy for writing said episode.

I think the difference there is they slipped that one into the conversation so easily (and I was so engrossed in the flow of the conversation) that I didn't even realize they had said it until someone pointed it out the next day. But this one here there was no missing it... it was the punctuation point to the whole episode.

I must have totally forgot I was watching a basic cable show because I didn't even think about the use of the word until I started reading online messages commenting about it.

It was Peter Jennings pranked and Al Michaels had to explain to him that it was a prank caller.
Fortunately I watching ABC live and got to watch that phony phone call live. So awesome.

How much money they wasted to get the real Larry King when they could have used stock footage?

Larry King isn't doing much these days. He probably did it for some peanuts and Dodgers tickets.
