Also given that the greyscale is only on his left arm, couldn't Ser Jorah (aka Ser Friendzone) just have that arm amputated to stop the greyscale from spreading to the rest of his body?

"khaleesi, I've done it, I've found the cure for the greyscale!"
"Bring forth the maester that cleansed you of this affliction that I may bestow upon him the riches he has earned"
"No, my queen, it was I! I have severed the wretched arm and stopped the spread!"
"What good to me is a knight with one arm and possible infecundity? I banish you!"
"But..."
"Go"

Wait. Dany said she couldn't take Jorah back (due to banishing him twice) after all that? Fuck that shit. Though after finding out about the greyscale, she sort of changed her tune. But holy shit, what would it take for Jorah to get back on her good side if if wasn't for that.

But as far as I know, It isn't Time Travel in the literal sense. Like, he can't go back and change the red wedding or kill Jamie Lannister or something. It is sc-fi I suppose, but George Martin has said he wanted to meld that within his world.

Ok if that turns out to be even partially true, I'll agree with others that they should never have opened up the time travel can of worms in the first place.

I didn't even think of it as time travel. To me it was more like Bastian talking to the Childlike Empress at the end of The Neverending Story. Magic tying two people together.

Seems pretty inept of the Three-Eyed Raven to never tell Bran that he can affect and be affected by the dreamworld or whatever it's called. Honestly, that whole portion of the plot feels terribly undeveloped in the show. If it's so important that it might tie into kicking the whole story into motion, the rules should really be set up a lot more clearly.

If I'm told the Russians are rapidly advancing an invading army to my house, I won't choose that moment to start watching some Little House on the Prairie episodes.

The point was so Bran could warg into Hodor/see what happens to him- it pretty much had to go down, since it "already happened". Other than that, the Raven guy was uploading (or whatever) as much as possible into Bran when the walkers were coming.

Not sloppy at all. Think from the viewpoint of the people back then who saw him flop down all of a sudden and start shaking and briefly saying "hold the door" before it morphed into "ho'dor". Why did that whole event happen? Nobody (who was there at the time) really knows. The brief Q&A you put forth is just a summary of the whole situation.
"How did he go from a normal person who can talk like anyone else to a lummox who just utters an abbreviated version of 'hold the door'?"
"Beats the fuck out of me."

Ned Stark was around then, so he and everybody else knew what happened to Hodor and what "Hodor" meant, just not why.

And while Hodor's sacrifice was very touching emotionally,it bought them what, a 30 seconds head start? For the sake of story, they get away, but based on what we just saw, that seems like a stretch.

Maybe the point of going into that vision wasn't Hodor but was meant by 3ER to show Bran something else but as has been said the Hodor thing was always what was going to happen there. We don't know where that vision was going before Bran had to worg into Hodor.

I don't get that. If he's uploading as much info as possible, I'd expect it to look like the end of 2001 with all these lights flying towards him. Instead we see Bran warging into the past so he can hang out in Winterfell and watch the kids learn to sword fight. If he's simultaneously getting a Spock-like memory dump, it wasn't at all apparent to me.

Now I'm going to say some spoilers about what I think happens next episode, but I don't know for sure. If you want to read you can....

Had we seen this flashback in an earlier episode we wouldn't know what it referred to either. However, the people standing around witnessed to same thing we did, and would know what we know, in essence, that one day Hodor went into some kind of seizure, yelling "Hold the door!" and by the time the seizure ended all he could say was the shortened "Hodor". They wouldn't know why it happened but would know what happened and what "Hodor" meant.
Ned Stark was around then, so he and everybody else knew what happened to Hodor and what "Hodor" meant, just not why.
