Supergirl will go on hiatus for 9 weeks starting February 12th. It will return April 16th and air into the summer.

Legends of Tomorrow is taking over the timeslot until it's season wraps.
Boy if that doesn't show how little faith the CW has on this show and how low the ratings have gotten I don't know what will.

Supergirl isn't going anywhere. It has a very rich Netflix deal with The CW along with the rest of the Arrowverse shows.

Sure, the live ratings will probably drop going into June. It's obvious on that because people watch less live TV once summer hits. But in the grander scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. Supergirl will get at least a 5 season run IMO or until the Netflix deal with The CW expires.

Legends of Tomorrow needed a timeslot to finish it's season since Black Lightning has 13 episodes to air and from looking at The CW's schedule, there was really no good place to put it.

Oh I know it's not going anywhere. But lets not kid ourselves. If this was a valuable show then they wouldn't be having it air it's finale in June and not May sweeps. They needed to have Legends air it's final episodes and they don't bump Arrow, Supernatural, Flash or anything else but instead bump Supergirl. That says a lot.

The guy at TV Line brought up a good point. The Supergirl delay may have something to do with the Showrunner getting fired.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Supergirl get shortened fourth and fifth seasons dumped on Friday nights, then canceled.

Only problem with that theory is that Kreisberg was only co-show runner here and was the main show runner on Flash, which isn't being delayed. Plus Berlanti is stepping in as show runner and its unlikely he's going to be making too many changes.

Flash is their most successful DC show. Maybe they made the choice to concentrate on not delaying Flash which puts them a little behind on Supergirl.

I understand there's an online petition to get Supergirl restored to its regular timeslot.

Why? It’s not like shows haven’t done this before. A few years ago it seemed to be the trend to minimize repeats. ABC has done this with Peggy Carter and AoS.

I know what you're saying and I agree with you, but the networks, -cable included, -put a lot of stock in their first showing of any particular episode. Even most of the premium networks now start their episodic shows on Sunday. They all seem to believe that there are a lot of people who watch "live" TV and that it's important.

I watch a few cable shows live via Sling TV because I can't record them, but everything else I record OTA on my Tivo.

This is what they should do for this, LoT, Black Lightening, etc. Arrow and Flash can be the anchors, but the rest can have short runs. They can then have more Arrow-verse shows going throughout the year.

I would still consider LoT Arrowverse.

I would think a lot of shows are taking a hiatus/airing reruns in February so as not to compete against the Olympics. Supergirl's just lasts a bit longer.

I think you're talking about Black Lightening.

Yes you are right. I saw BL instead of LoT. One should never drive, tweet or post when drowsy.
