Idol is irrelevant in this case. It's season won't air until March 2020.

Castle was also a 10pm show when it aired and I think they wanted to bring it here to improve a weak hour that no one is normally watching.

Anyways, I think season 2 is going to have only average live viewers and most are going to just DVR it or stream it the next day.

If that's the case then the one year break between new episodes could kill the series just as much as a bad timeslot could.

The Orville lost a huge chunk of viewers between the first two seasons, and I think the one year wait was a primary reason why.

The Rookie is still airing this Fall. I was talking about American Idol, which would be the lead-in on Sundays. Idol won't air until 2020.

Shark Tank will be it's lead-in this Fall.

SUNDAY
7:00 p.m. "America's Funniest Home Videos"
8:00 p.m. (To be announced later today)
9:00 p.m. "Shark Tank"
10:00 p.m. "The Rookie" (new day)

Ahhh. Well, that's good news, then. The timeslot still sucks, but at least the break will be reasonable.

Afton Williamsom (Bishop, Nolan's TO) will not return for season 2.

That's a shame. She was good.

According to the story, Harold Perrineau, will be taking over as Nolan's TO/mentor.

Sorry to hear that--I liked her and her character. She and Fillion had good on-screen chemistry. I wonder what the reason for her leaving was.

Shit. First The Orville gets moved to Hulu, and now this.

The two shows I'm most interested in and there's bad news for both.

Well shit if they knew she was going to leave they could have had her actually lose her job over the stuff with her brother.

You mean where all the cast didn't like her and they decided not to pick up her contract had the show gone one for another season?
Oh, wait, let's blame Fillion.

Harold Perrineau is a fantastic actor. I look forward to seeing how he fits in and how they write Bishop out (although we know of several obvious ways they could do it and have it make sense).

... and Ali Larter is joining the cast as an ER doc that has a past connection for Officer Nolan.

Afton Williamson went to Instagram and gave her reasons for quitting. Some pretty serious allegations. But it has nothing to do with her main co-stars.

I will not be returning for Season 2 of The Rookie. I owe it to you my amazing fans to share the Truth. Throughout the filming of the pilot, I experienced Racial Discrimination/Racially Charged inappropriate comments from the hair department and bullying from Executive Producers. During the Season, it continued along with Sexual Harassment from a recurring guest star and the racist commentary & bullying from the Hair Dept. Head escalated into Sexual Assault at our Wrap party. The Sexual Harassment though reported directly to the Showrunner/EP remained undocumented and was not reported to HR as promised. The Hair Dept. Head was fired ONLY after the sexual assault and NOT for an entire year of outward racism/racially charged language and bullying behavior in and out of the Hair and Makeup trailer. HR protocol was never adhered to following the above reports given by me to my Showrunner/EP and an investigation was never issued for any of my claims. The only time I was asked to participate in an investigation was after a meeting I called in June following our Season 2 announcement. This meeting included the Showrunner and two other producers as well as my agent and SAG-AFTRA Union Rep. It was clear to all present in the meeting that the Showrunner had not shared my reports with the any of the producers. After my initial report of sexual harassment, I was assured that the actor would be fired. I was also asked to film with him the very next day as a courtesy to the script, even though we had not begun filming the episode yet. This actor reappeared on our call sheet at the end of the season, I was even written in scenes with him. I asked the Showrunner about this and he admitted to me that the actor had not been fired nor had he gotten HR involved. I was asked to return this season, and promised that “everything was handled.” The investigation hadn’t even begun and Season 2 had already started filming. I turned it down and I walked. Now is the best time in the world to be a woman and I have a platform so it’s time to use my Voice. Strength comes from within. It comes from Above. “Greater is He that is within Me than he that is in the world” ❤️

That sucks.

Now I'm wondering who this recurring guest star is that harassed her.

I’m trying to think of recurring guests on the show this season where her character had a lot of interactions. I wonder if it was one of the pair of detectives?

I respect her reasons for leaving. From a fan perspective it would have been nice to have at least one episode or some scenes to close out with the core characters.

Yeah only reoccurring guest stars that come to mind are the rich buddy, the other detective who lost his partner and the IA chief guy who is the dad of one of the rookies. I doubt this was Sarah Shahi. That is shitty situation all around. Too bad someone like Fillion didn't become aware and basically tell them to handle it or he walks.

Yeah, those are the ones that came to my mind first, though I guess there's also Shawn Ashmore, who plays the lawyer in a relationship with the other TO (Lopez).

I am interested to see if the showrunners and/or the studio/network puts out a statement about this.

Interesting that in the fall of 2017 after all the Weinstein shit went down Alexi Hawley (the showrunner) wrote a big essay about harassment in Hollywood and how to be part of the solution.

Good call, but do not recall Ashmore having any contact with her on the show, so that seems unlikely.

To my Fans, my Friends, my Supporters: I want to Thank EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. I am so beyond overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, kind words, scriptures, strength filled quotes and devout support that has come my way. One Instagram post is just like those 2 fish and 5 loaves of Bread. The rippling effect it has had in just a few hours shows how much this world is aching with victims of racism, discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual abuse all of it. I am no stranger to all of the above even before this experience. But it is through this experience and my platform that God pushed me to use the power within me. It just takes a VOICE. I never imagined so many of us have experienced these horrible circumstances and that can NO LONGER GO UNHEARD. We have a voice. ALL OF US. It is our DUTY to use it. I used to fear the word Victim. I scoffed at it because all I was told when these injustices happened to me, was to Survive. Survivor I am. Victim I am also. A victim of injustice. A victim of assault. A victim of abuse and harassment. If you have experienced any of the above, you are too and I for one stand with you and I’m no longer afraid to be vocal about it. We Can Stand Together. Let’s Change This Sickness. That Change starts with US. This season on The Rookie, I was sexually harassed by fellow actor Demetrius Grosse. I was Racially Bullied and Discriminated against and Sexually Assaulted by Hair Department Head Sally Nicole Ciganovich. Let’s BE the CHANGE we WANT to SEE❤️

Oh damn, so she gave names.

I looked up Grosse and I remember him. He was the detective that was shot in that major shootout. He and Afton did have some scenes together. What a fucking dick.

He was also a series regular on The Brave, that cancelled NBC military show.
