The Hardy Boys (Hulu) -- Based on the book series -- Premieres 12/4/20

Every town has its secrets. When the Hardy boys, Frank (16) and Joe (12), arrive in Bridgeport, they set out to uncover the truth behind the recent tragedy that has changed their lives, and in doing so, uncover something much more sinister. Something only they can stop.

Hulu just dropped the trailer a few hours ago. There's very little info about this except from this People story.

If anyone here claims you were a big fan of the old Shaun Cassidy/Parker Stevenson/Pamela Sue Martin series, you're really really old

I think I watched some of that show in the early 80s in reruns as a kid. At least the Hardy boys here are kids, not some 20-something dudes who appeared on Tiger Beat magazine.

I'm really, really old.

Still have the DVDs as well. Not much to go on yet, but I'll give this one a shot.

Re: The Hardy Boys (Hulu) -- Based on the book series -- Premieres 12/4/20

I grew up reading The Hardy Boy Casefiles. Loved the books.

But in Casefiles the boys weren't kids and one reason I loved Supernatural so much is because the Winchester boys reminded me a lot of the Hardy Boys in many ways.

Kind of disappointed they decided to adapt a Hardy Boys series but went with the kids version. Would've really preferred the Casefiles series as that's what I'm use to.

I am that old! Best episode was when the Hardy Boy's and Nancy Drew teamed up to face off against DRACULA (played by Lorne Greene)!
I kind of wish they would adapt The Three Investigators book series. Actually enjoyed them more.

Too bad we never got that Ben Stiller / Tom Cruise movie.

FYI, this premieres tomorrow. Looks like all 13 episodes will be posted.

I know Hulu shows barely get much talk here, so I don't expect much intense chatter.

I had no idea this was even being made. I figured CW would eventually spin them off from Nancy Drew, which I still haven't watched. But I grew up on the Casefiles books as well. Always enjoy the Hardy Boys. Hopefully, this will be good. I could never get into the 70's show.

The Hardys are typically portrayed as being 16 and 17 in the various book series, so this is atypical though I think the more recent series have them as kids.

I'm through the first episode and am digging it so far. It's set in the 80's, which is fine, but it doesn't always seem set in to the 80's, which is my only complaint so far. The mystery set up in the first 20 minutes has a lot of intrigue to it I'll probably get through this whole thing rather quickly.

Is each episode a new mystery, or is it one over the course of the season? This may not be for me if it's one long mystery.

Looks like a season-long mystery, but a very personal one.

Yesterday my wife and I watched the first episode to test the waters. It was quite good, so I believe we’ll check out a few more!

Watched the first 2 eps so far. It's interesting enough that I'll probably finish it out.

Re: The Hardy Boys (Hulu) -- Based on the book series -- Premieres 12/4/20

Watched the first episode and about 15 minutes of the second episode. Don't think I'll stick with it. Reminds me of Riverdale, which I didn't really care for.

Maybe it's because it has a darker thematic tone than I expected. I never read the books, so maybe the books are like that. I don't know. But that's why I didn't like Riverdale. Darker tone than the comics.

I think they have one of the same executive producers, if I'm not mistaken. I'm going to finish it. I'm 6 episodes in now. Always pictured The Hardy Boys more in the Scooby-Doo mode myself, where there was darkness, but it was fun darkness. This isn't quite how I pictured them, what with Joe being a lot younger, Chet not being fat, Biff being a female, Trudy (Gertrude) being a lot younger than what I had in my mind, etc., but no adaptation has captured what was in my mind as a kid reading the books. I don't see it quite as dark as Riverdale, but I'm liking that they're taking their time to develop the relationships, etc. I think it's good enough to pass some time with when I want to throw something on...

Re: The Hardy Boys (Hulu) -- Based on the book series -- Premieres 12/4/20

The second season picks up six months after the events of Season 1, building on the mystery and drama of the inaugural season and welcoming new friends and suspects. In Season 2, when a Bridgeport classmate mysteriously disappears, Frank (Rohan Campbell) and Joe Hardy (Alexander Elliot) drop their new normal routine to get back to detective work. But when they discover the mystical relic they destroyed last year is still in play, it becomes clear their simple missing person case is actually part of something far more sinister. The Hardy boys and their friends must quickly learn who they can and can’t trust as they race against time to unravel the truth, and ultimately realize that no one is safe from their past. The Hardy Boys Season 2 premieres Wednesday, April 6, only on Hulu.

Re: The Hardy Boys (Hulu) -- Based on the book series -- Premieres 12/4/20

I have found myself watching episodes of this show before I go to sleep, and it is a series I have always wanted to check out. I am already on the third and final season and it has been an interesting show. Since I recently went Ad Free on Hulu it has made it so much easier to catch up on series like this one. What surprised me is how they went there, minds switching bodies, people being able to see the past/future, stuff like that. I was not expecting so much mystical/supernatural stuff in the show, but the cast and acting is solid so I was happy to plow through the seasons to get caught up.
