The writers clearly want viewers to be curious about and speculate on the identity of Rambeau's man. They're building up to his reveal. Maybe hype isn't the best word, but this isn't going to culminate in a simple character introduction. His identity will be significant. I think it's the Luke Skywalker moment Olsen has mentioned in interviews.

Has anyone commented yet on the (subtle) way she slipped back into her Sokovian accent when she breeched the Hex to threaten the SWORD agents?
That little bit put into sharp relief for me what the point of the sitcom conceit was (from her character's POV)- which was further supported with her line "I just want to blend in".
I'd always felt disappointed that they let her give up the accent so completely in Civil War, but those small little points here are just enough to make me excuse everything in retrospect.

And that's why I can now fully, retroactively accept the loss of the accent in Civil War and IW/EG. "Blending in" has obviously been a character goal/ state of mind thing since well prior to this series.
It's just another data point that speaks to the character's psyche, and factors into any future emotional breakdown she'll be shown having.

If we want to speculate more based on interviews, Paul Bettany confirmed that the special guest character is a guy, is an actor he's always wanted to work with, and they have "fireworks" together.

So that shoots down pretty much any previous MCU character, since he's interacted with nearly all of them by the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

So what will Wanda (or whoever) do when she catches up to modern sitcoms? What would a modern sitcom be like on Wandavision? It would still need to be a family sitcom, so that probably excludes stuff like The Office, Friends, and Big Bang Theory. Maybe Modern Family, but there really aren't enough family members. Maybe Wanda would "reboot" some of the earlier sitcoms. Or would the simulation end when she reaches modern day sitcoms, or does she switch over and start doing dramas, reality shows, or game shows?

They are doing one that is in the style of Modern Family.

You can already see the clips from that ep in the trailers where Wanda is on the couch talking right into the camera ala an MF commentary/interview.
I've also heard the Office is getting riffed, but not sure if that will pan out.

I'm enjoying the show as a whole but I was excited for this one just because as a kid I would live for sitcom's yearly Halloween episodes. So few shows put the effort in these days.

Just thinking out loud... if you say the title of this show quickly, it sounds like "One Division".

Except Malcolm in the Middle premiered in 2000. But that is what it felt like.
I heard a great pitch on a podcast ... an Alf episode with Howard the Duck. Hell yeah! (Never gonna’ happen.)

yeah, that would be a big jump. I think My So Called Life is more in line. Though it isn’t a sitcom, obviously.

It was 100% a homage to Malcolm in the Middle.

The creator and cast have said in interviews it would be an influence as well.
And the movies listed on the theatre marquee were The Parent Trap and The Incredibles so it had to be a 2004 or later setting.

Yeah I didn’t realize it had that kinda following. I never do an ep, thus didn’t recognize opening. But, I have seen pieces of the show. I guess there in the 2000’s now.

Yeah, the episode last week seemed to bridge 80's and 90's sitcoms with a Family Ties / Growing Pains feel into a TGIF feel (styles changed a bit, not to mention the kids aging themselves). So doesn't look like we're getting any direct homage to shows like Friends or Seinfeld. Maybe because those weren't sitcoms centered on families?
