Yeah, dressing up in those weird costumes with the horns and as different types of animals is going to be an eye roller for me. Not sure if I'll be able to stick with it once it gets to that...

I'm still hoping everything has a rational explanation.

Out there plotline twist that even a show that wants to be compared to Squid Game would not do: Shauna's new lover is her son.

I've heard that, a comparison to another famous South Korean film. But Adam is the one hiding his past, I can't imagine he'd enter into that relationship intentionally.

That's the part I like. I'm bored to death with anything in the present

Yeah I said it was out there. In the real world there is this phenomenon called Genetic Sexual Attraction where children or parents who first meet as adults are attracted to each other. Sort of anecdotal, some people think it is silly, but many believe it is a real thing. But I am not sure they would want to infodump GSA to explain things. It's obviously not the situation but for a show that advertises itself as more shocking than Squid Game, the narrative does sort of align though with the story pretty well.

Spoiler conjecture:
Spoiler:
I actually think it is her husband, but the son thing would be super shocking.

If the team makes the dietary choices we're all assuming they'll make, I think that alone would be more extreme than Squid Game, don't you?

Except they already shared that, so if it is the only "shocker" it would be way disappointing. Show needs to have several WTF? moments I think to keep momentum

Re: Yellowjackets (Showtime) - S: Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, Melanie Lynskey

I always take "more shocking than..." to be mostly hype and a lot of bluster. And disappointing if I expect it to be true.

Like here's an example. I saw the movie Straw Dogs for the first time like 15-20 years ago, based on it being a "shocking revenge tale". But man, I come from I Spit on Your Grave, Last House on the Left, Ms. 45, Italian cannibal flicks, et al. Straw Dogs was an afternoon walk in the park. Gave it a thumbs down and sold off the disc. Just rewatched the Criterion Blu a few months ago though, and this time I found it an enjoyable film even if it's not as "shocking" as it was hyped up to be.

Bottom line, watch Yellowjackets if you're invested in the story, but if you're expecting something really outrageous there's a good chance for disappointment.

I like how Paff calls it dietary choices.

instead of saying what it is: these girls gonna eat each other. 😁

I am still enjoying it, especially both Shauna performances. I just hope it does answer some questions in the final two episodes and doesn't last for more than three seasons.

Lot to unpack from last night's episode, but I start with a casual observation: I forgot how good the song "Gepetto" by Belly was.

It got a little weird with the magic mushroom scene. Glad this is all just a one and done watch for me. Not interested in seeing it all again.

Minus thinking he actually cheated, I was spot on there. It was way more logical to be the husband that knew all along than a stranger. Did not expect Adam to get got 30 seconds into the episode tho. That was pretty surprising lol. Good episode. Based on the preview for next week I'm not expecting it to be wild. Could be a misdirect but I think it'll be a slow burn up to a big reveal cliffhanger.

ETA: To dispose of Adam's body... they're gonna eat him right? Bringing Misty in for her cooking skills on the human body I assume lol.

Oh wow, I just noticed that teem Misty is the same actress who played Carl's psycho wife on Shameless a few years back. I guess when you can play a type pretty well...
