From (MGM+) -- S: Harold Perrineau -- from EPs: The Russo Brothers & Jack Bender -- Premieres 2/20/22

Created and executive produced by John Griffin (Crater), directed and executive produced by Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones, Mr. Mercedes), and showrun and executive produced by Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Alias, Lost), From features a stellar ensemble cast lead by Harold Perrineau (Lost). The series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town in middle America that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest - including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down.

This trailer was posted a few months ago. This is a horror series from the Producers of Lost and The Russo Brothers.

Bump

This is now available. It's a 10 episode season.

You can watch it on EPIX and also on Amazon Prime video. The first 3 episodes are now on Prime. I think the Prime video posting may be just a special preview.

I just watched the 1st episode. I thought it was pretty good and creepy. It reminds me of a Stephen King type story. Small town terrorized by some mysterious entity at night.

I was surprised they showed the dead body of a child who was killed and gutted by the mysterious monster that comes out at night. Her mother was also killed.

Perrineau is the sheriff of this small town. I am intrigued enough to keep going.

2nd episode was also good. The family who is now trapped in this small town learned more of its background. We still have more to learn about what those things are that comes out at end.

Brutally violent aftermath at the clinic with the deputy’s father getting slaughtered.

Edit: I noticed the showrunner for this series is Jeff Pinkner, who used to be the head writer and showrunner for Fringe. A couple people on the creative team used to work on Lost and Alias.

I am glad there is a thread for this show, as it is quite good and also very mysterious and creepy. Some shocking scenes, such as the girl shoving a stick(?) through the car accident victims neck and mouth, it is as gnarly a scene as it sounds. Kind of surprised I handled the scene as well as I did because I am on the record as to being a bit squeamish about gore.

Great cast and the actress who plays the young EMT is absolutely gorgeous.

I just finished episode 3. It was my least favorite of the 3. The only thing big that happened was at the ending that involved the father who let his wife and child die.

And one of the car accident victims from the 1st episode was super annoying in this.

So far so good. It's a huge cliché with the mysterious town where something weird happens at night, but so far it works. I'm in.

Already made a thread.

https://forum.dvdtalk.com/tv-talk/65...2-20-22-a.html

It was on page 2

However, I know the search engine sucks and it wouldn't have found the title.

Thanks.

So about the Cows and the Chickens. They are supplied with food, water, and electricity and nothing else?

Episode 4 revealed some interesting things about this mysterious town. The trees that seem to have the means to send you to an unknown location are interesting, but I understand that potentially ending up inside a block of concrete or floating 3 miles above the ground would make townsfolk wary of testing out this method of escaping the situation they find themselves in. This show is quickly turning into a fave of mine and I eagerly look forward to watching every week.

I really dislike the father of the main family.

Otherwise this is a fun show, hope it gets a second season and I'm curious if it launched on Netflix overseas (Epix had an interesting deal there)

That said, the

Dragging their feet a bit at the end here but it has gone full Lost with the tent stuff

I hope this gets renewed but it seems like it has zero chatter out there. Hopefully if it blips off Epix, Amazon picks it up since it's MGM.

re: From (MGM+) -- S: Harold Perrineau -- from EPs: The Russo Brothers & Jack Bender -- Premieres 2/20/22

Rich, I hope that someone other than Amazon gets it if it ends up needing to be saved, because Amazon is one of the rare streaming services that it would not be cost-effective for me to pay for (I get free shipping being linked to my bro's Prime account, but I checked, tons of content is not available to me for free since I do not pay for the service).

It does make you wonder if this temporal anomaly has been monitored by outside forces/agencies since it was discovered and they usually just let things play out with no interference from the outside world unless, like with this latest episode, someone gets the bright idea to try and push beyond the "boundaries" of this place where the supernatural does exist.

I have not seen Cabin In The Woods (as I have pointed out too many times to count, not a horror fan in general, and tons of DVD Talkers are now about to say we know inhumans99!, move on with the rest of your story, lol!) but isn't the premise of that film that spooky demonic beings exist and the cabin is some sort of portal that they can enter to prey on a handful of poor saps who have the misfortune to book time at that cabin, but the demonic beings, for a variety of reasons, cannot break free of that location in the woods?

I kind of get that vibe from this show. The bloody and freaky Civil War era flashbacks when the dude touched the tree, the apparitions that lash out if a talisman is not hindering their entrance into whatever you are calling a shelter at the moment, all seem to indicate that the Supernatural is real in this particular place and time that has ensnared many an unlucky traveler, but folks on the outside have figured out a way to keep it secret from most folks and have perhaps determined that they need to let the place occasionally draw-in unwitting visitors to provide the spirits with some sort of sustenance otherwise the spirits might break loose of this place and wreak havoc with the outside world.

I hope the next episode does provide some answers, not all of them but some, just in case it ends on a cliffhanger and is not picked up for a second season.

Yeah, Amazon is a little pricey for sure. Actually since Netflix owns the streaming rights outside of the US, they'd probably be next in line.

That's definitely possible progression point though I doubt it'd be quite to the level that Cabin in the Woods was (what you describe about them more or less being lured in is spot-on, Though the reasons for it were to me in Cabin) and I could definitely see it going down that road overall though.

It's a fun show either way and I'll ride it out til it gets stale, however long that may be.

The finale was pretty dull, with a few additions that made me groan more than anticipate future episodes.

I'm still all in for season 2 but yeesh, way to go out with a whimper.

re: From (MGM+) -- S: Harold Perrineau -- from EPs: The Russo Brothers & Jack Bender -- Premieres 2/20/22

Yeah Rich, the finale just seemed to to set up things for a second season, even the jump scare moments were just okay and not real shockers like the guy who ended up with a stick in his skull from the woman who is travelling with Boyd to see what is outside of the forest (Boyd's wife in the spider web cocoon was a bit freaky). In Lost, was it ultimately "the island" that would lash out at the plane crash survivors, because we were told that the realm they are in is angry (at the attempts to get out, one presumes). I definitely am in for a second season and I have to hope the showrunners are not assuming they will get 5-7 seasons to tell their story and give us a lot of answers as we work through another season.

I still think the folks in the town are unwitting participants in some sort of Truman show type situation, where most things are staged, and while this is way too simplistic, that some of the folks who are supposed to be dead are really away from the show on some Ponderosa like island, but that might not explain the military woman who shot a bunch of town folks, and other situations that look a bit hard to stage.

Of course, we all noticed the tour bus/greyhound type bus that pulled into the town in the show's closing minutes.

I'll be pretty pissed if this doesn't get another season. I'm sick to death of genre shows getting canceled. It's a catch 22...don't watch because you're afraid it won't last thereby guaranteeing it doesn't.

That finale sure answered a lot of questions right? You know, all the big mysteries we were dying to uncover such as: "Does Jade have a heart?", "Can that little kid get more annoying?", and "Is a trip to Iceland worth changing your sexual preferences for?" It ended just as I suspected it would and that's not a good thing.

Yeah, everything at the beginning basically led up to the events at Colony House. These last 3 episodes basically started a new season and ended it in middle of a lackluster episode 3.

Looks like this was renewed for a 2nd season, but EPIX has not announced it yet.

Production weekly is listing season 2 in active development.

Production weekly was right, it's officially renewed now: https://deadline.com/2022/04/from-re...au-1235008774/

The series premiere of From is Epix’s most viewed original series premiere in the history of the Amazon-owned network following the acquisition of MGM and current performance analytics track that the entire series is on pace to be Epix’s second most-watched original behind Emmy winning series Godfather of Harlem.

I forgot Amazon got Epix in the MGM purchase.
