Will Trent (ABC) -- S: Ramon Rodriguez, Erika Christensen -- Based on the book series

As Special Agent Will Trent, Ramón Rodríguez can deconstruct a crime scene like no one else. Based on Karin Slaughter's New York Times bestselling "Will Trent" series, Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta's overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, Will Trent has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

"Will Trent" stars Ramón Rodríguez as Will Trent, Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner, Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell and Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood.

Executive producers are Liz Heldens, Daniel Thomsen, Karin Slaughter and Oly Obst. Ramón Rodríguez is a producer.

This premiered 2 weeks ago on ABC. 2 episodes have aired. Don't know if anyone has any interest in this. But, hey if you want to talk about it, here you go. I DVRd it, so I'll probably check it out this weekend. It looks like a mix of Castle and CSI

I watched both episodes and will stick with it. There's a lot going on besides solving a crime of the week. Since it is based on a series of books, it does drop you into a developed world of character histories and relationships. So far, Trent plays as more of a very smart and attentive detective than a crime-solving freak like Monk or Holmes. The show is set in Atlanta, but no one sounds very Southern.

I'm enjoying this quite a bit, the heavy focus on character is nice.

Will Trent has a southern thing happening with his voice but Atlanta isn't exactly a traditionally southern city.

I was kind of confused why Mark-Paul Gosselaar was allowed to follow them around in the 2nd episode considering the actions in the scenes prior.

Started watching this over the weekend. Very different tone than what I expected. I assumed this show was more quirky with comedy mixed in. What it actually is turned out to be much better than I expected. The actress from The Wire is the weak link, sadly. I'm in for the season now. Through 5 of the 8 that have aired so far.

Yeah it turned into a heavier show than I expected. I agree about the actress, her delivery seems too exaggerated and it doesn't fit at all with anyone else.

This is a great show that I watch when the eps hit Hulu. I like both of Will Trent's partners, Erika Christensen and his actual partner on the show. I keep checking Hulu for new episodes because I love being able to watch a full episode before I go to sleep. However long this show is on the air, I am in.

Renewed

I haven't watched this yet. For those who have kept up, has it been entertaining at least? I know most network TV dramas don't get much discussion week to week anymore here.

We’ve watched and generally enjoyed. I feel like some episodes have been more successful than others. I will say the pilot was pretty strong and Will had a Sherlock quality, which seems to have been lost. Things feel like they devolved (?) into a network procedural that telegraphs the outcome. But, the characters have depth and some of the plots can been well done.

Re: Will Trent (ABC) -- S: Ramon Rodriguez, Erika Christensen -- Based on the book series

I just started bingeing this a couple of days ago. I've been doing the Jack Reacher audiobooks, and finished the novels and now working on the short stories. And just started one with a crossover with Trent, and it dawned on me, hey isn't there a TV show with that guy now?

Enjoying it so far. With the dyslexia, it sometimes gives me a little bit of a feeling of a serious Monk show.
I think I liked the Manhunt episode the most so far.

The first season ended pretty strong. I was surprised how much of a turn things took from Angie’s plot to Will’s.

The addition of Faith’s mom helps round out the cast. I hope she’s back for season 2. Even the return of Mark Paul Gosalar’s character gave some good energy.

Meanwhile, Betty continues to steal the show.

Solid finale. Agree about Faith's mom. Good add although I'm a fan of the actress from other projects already. MPG was some comedic relief that the episode needed as well, IMO. Him trying to figure out the smell broke up an otherwise super grim storyline. I had assumed he would be the killer, mainly just because it's strange to see him take such a small role. Hope he comes back next season as well.

Re: Will Trent (ABC) -- S: Ramon Rodriguez, Erika Christensen -- Based on the book series

I guess I am the only one that was disappointed in how they wrapped up this episode. The episode seemed pushed at the end and way too sloppy from the moment Will Trent knocked on the killer's door. The last few episodes had done such a good job of tying the characters together and introducing new ones. You had the whodunit aspect with a terrifying villian. Then to end it with no rescue plan or ingenious villian escape plan just kind of left me feeling let down. Up to the point that the killer is discovered and after the episodes were good at tying up character interactions. Just the whole resolution to the villian was a BLEH.

On the other hand, I agree Bad A$$ Betty is the star.

Did I miss it? Why did the guy start back up and specifically target the kids from the foster system?

Re: Will Trent (ABC) -- S: Ramon Rodriguez, Erika Christensen -- Based on the book series

Actually he was targeting Will. Blamed him for the untimely death of Will's mother, I believe. Now Why it took him this long? Why he chose the methods he did? Why he committed suicide? Why he greets Will unarmed? Why he chooses to beat up Angie instead of using his normal techniques? How he found the escapee from the Safe House? Meaning of the red nails?

Who knows?

I don't think we got much info other than he was after Will for "killing" his mother while being born. Why he did everything else? I have no idea.

Finally getting around to this show.
On Episode one now.

Pretty darn nice cast.
I knew the female detective was familiar, glad someone mentioned she is from the Wire.

Also noticed that Christensen has unshaven arm pits. Nothing wrong with that I guess but you doesn’t really see that much on regular tv.
