I wonder this too....PSP was TOTAL EYECANDY. The games were average at best. I'm not knocking it, I love my PSP, but nothing was GREAT. You cannot call Lumines great. Fun, but not great.

What are considered the best titles of the Walmart selection? I was hoping for Call of Duty 2, but someone suggested I go with Battlefield 2 instead. Also contemplating Ghost Recon.

At Amazon (TRU) you can preorder the Xbox 360 premium package without a bundle:

Sold Out already....I sure hope MS makes enough consoles to go around. Although, I already have mine pre-ordered at GameRush

I'm happy...I should get it, even a midnight event probably. (Which I may go to, depending on the release date)

The WALMART bundle does nto seem to be working either

Well, GameRush is your best bet, since you don't need to get any useless games or accessories, just the system.

-Amazon.com is next (when in stock)
- Walmart would be third, since you can pick games

I would recommend against preordering at Amazon, unless someone has some recent good experience with them. I'm still ticked that my wife preordered the PS2 from there way, way in advance, and they didn't have enough stock. They didn't say anything about it, and they didn't even stop more people from ordering, they just delayed shipment until way after Xmas, at which point I had to camp out at BB every morning just to pick one up, so the games that came from amazon weren't entirely worthless. I also wouldn't recommend most other online places, like Overstock or KBtoys or whatever.

to add more insult to injury I just read that a few people have actually won multiple times with multiple accounts.

I dunno about you guys, but Bestbuy.ca had limited preorders. I think today was the last day though.

Got in on the amazon one this morning, they already stopped taking orders hopefully this is a sign they learned there lesson from last time. I still do have $50 down at a local Ebgames, but they still don't have sperate skus for core and premium so I dont trust them

Pre-ordered mine at FYE. They said at the time I was only the second person to pre-order one from them. I was happy as most of the Gamestops and EB's were already sold out.

I am now without a console until the 360 is released. I took my XBOX, various cables, games and controllers into Gamestop today. They had some trade-in deal going on that would hopefully give me some decent store credit. While the system is now only worth 60.00 I ended up trading in about 20 mediocre titles and ending up getting over 230.00 in credit. :O

I have 277.00 down on my 360 now and I reserved Tiger 2006 and the Play & Charge Kit. I'm so ready for this new system.

I pre ordered mine from EB and was told that they are taking everyone in as a 399$ unless the customer specifically states that they want the 299$ core system only.

Some techno speak from Cedec 2005 about the 360:

+ Among 3 cores in Xbox 360 CPU (codenamed "PX"), Core 0 is primary and Core 1/2 are secondary. Core 0 is fully usable by a game program. Core 1 and Core 2 are shared by a game program and the Xbox 360 system. Network stacks, services, drivers such as a USB driver run on those secondary cores. 5% computation usage of both core 1 and core 2 are reserved by the system.

+ The XMA (modified WMAPro) decoder in the southbridge chip can decode 256 XMA channels at the same time. Though the compression rate is variable, 1/8 is just enough for typical usage. After decoding, all software sound processing (multi-channel mixing, 3D surround sound, Dolby Pro Logic II/Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding) are done on CPU Core 2. When it processes 256 channels at the same time it costs 25% load of Core 2.

+ A hardware-assisted tile-rendering method called 'Predicated Tiling' is supplied as a library for Xbox 360 for the case when 10MB eDRAM is not sufficient, for example 64bit (FP16 * RGBA) HDR rendering + Z buffer + MRT in 720p. While it affects geometry processing with 1.2 - 1.3 times load, it doesn't affect pixel processing as there's no overlapping unlike geometry. As the result, it doesn't affect the total performance as pixel processing load is inherently larger than that of geometry.

+ The hardware tesselator in Xenos supports both adaptive and sequential, and adaptive tesselation requires 2-pass. If the tesselator is used the vertex output from it is limited to 1 vertex per clock though the performance impact can be mitigated as output vertices from the tesselator have higher locality for better caching.

+ In a double-layer DVD for Xbox 360, 7GB is usable by a game. The transfer rate of the DVD drive is 15MB/sec max, 10-12MB/sec average. The seek time is 115ms, switching layers takes 75ms. Loading 512MB data takes 34 seconds.

+ 2GB in the HDD is used for a temporary cache area for games. Its average transfer rate is 17MB/sec and the average seek time is 13ms.

+ Game data is managed per user account and saved in HDD, but 64MB Memory Unit is also usable for checkout/backup. The Memory Unit slot is 2.5MB/sec write, 8MB/sec read.

+ In its 512MB RAM, 32MB is allocated for the system. The RAM is GDDR3 SDRAM @ 700MHz (22.4GB/sec).

My gamestop is pushing me to reserve games now because they're "going to go fast!"

Do you see any need to reserve games?
