What games are people looking to pick up?

I'm excited (yet seriously daunted) by Morrowind & Call of Duty 2.

Heck, what are the launch titles at this point?

so I decide to preorder this and now every place I've checked is telling me I most likely won't get it until possibly the 3rd shipment.

I guess I'm going hunting on release day.

We don't yet know exactly which ones will be launch titles. Hopefully Microsoft will reveal this soon.

Personally I am looking forward to Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Project Gotham Racing 3, Full Auto, Dead Rising, King Kong (rental probably), The Outfit (rental), and The Darkness. I am sure there are other titles as well.

I have never had a problem finding any console after launch. If you can't find one shoot me an email, I will mail you one.

UPDATE:

I just went to Gamerush about 5-6min. from my house and got on the 1st shipment list. they were taking 10 preorders and I was #8. I completely forgot about them(I don't go to Blockbuster much). I was just going to do the release day hunt but this "should" be easier.

I went to 3 different GameStops, 2 EBs, a Wal-Mart, and 2 best buys to pre-order and none of them would do it without a bundle...

While I'm not excited about launch titles don't forget how many more titles they have coming out in the few months after launch. Gears Of War is looking great but once again....not a launch title.

Plus I'd hate to get too excited about any game just yet. If the rumors about Perfect Dark Zero being delayed are really true then no game is safe. MS seemed to confident that this game was going to the big launch title and now it might be in limbo? If so then I wonder how many other games will not be ready in time.

I might not be interested in the games enough to buy them.....I'll sure as hell rent them to check out the power of the new system. I have faith that I'll be gaming a great deal right away on the 360.

Yeah, there have also been rumors that Project Gotham Racing and Need For Speed Most Wanted will not be launch titles. I don't think they are going to be having a launch with 15-20 games like they initially wanted.

Ghost Recon:Advanced War-Fighter
The Outfit
Oblivion (and I'm not even a big RPG guy)
I'm sure there are others...but I'll just get a few at launch

Only comment I can make about the 360 launch lineup as it looks like it will be more than good enough to entice X-box fans to buy, but is lacking any games to bring in people like me who were underwhelmed by the X-box's library.

In otherwords, heavy on FPS, racers and american-style RPGs, short on platformers, adventure games and japanese RPGs.

not sure if this was asked in this thread but does anyone know what the setup is for the wireless controller out of the box? do you use regular AAs or what?

You can use regular AAs, but you will drain them pretty fast. Better get some rechargable batteries or the Xbox360 charge and play kit (I think that is what its called) if you can afford it.

ok, thanks. I didn't know if this had battery packs or what out of the box. I have like 3 dozen rechargable AAs lying around here(2300mAh) so I guess I should be ok for awhile.

That's good to heare. I use recharable NihMs in my wavebirds and they last forever before needing recharged.

Hopefully all the consoles controllers will have that option so your not stuck plugging it in to recharge if the built in batteries die mid-game.

Yep, I was just meaninig I hope Sony and Nintendo allow AA's in addition to the built in battery pack in their controllers as well.

Try Walmart at midnight on release day. There was just me and 1 other person looking then on the DS release day. They went out back and pulled a box open and gave them to us.

At $400 a pop I have to think there will be some of these kicking around.

We're on the 29th page now and I must have said this some pages ago...

...anyway, I agree with you. The fact that some here have already expressed a disinterest in the higher price will free-up some consoles on release day for those who just walk-in.

My strategy is to just walk into a retailer on release day and buy one if they've got it. If they don't have a game I want, I still buy the console and wait. Don't get me wrong. I want to play on the first day, but I'm not as eager for this next generation as I was when the Xbox was released.

I'd be absolutely shocked if these weren't relatively easy to find on release day.

To be fair, japanese (and american!) rpgs don't normally come along till at least a year into a consoles lifespan, with 2 years for the really good ones. Thats one reason the ps2 will be getting lots of value for the next 2 years.

I think the 360s line up overall is probably as balanced as any, particularly if you do a MS, and consider launch to be the next 3 months!

I thought MS said that they consider launch to be from the time they launch until Christmas? If so, I don't see a problem with that, especially when a large amount of the systems will be sold as Christmas presents.

The launch lineup is definitely tighter this time around. MS knows who will be buying the console at launch and will cater to them through the end of 2005.

4-5 Shooters at launch compared to 1 in 2001.
3-4 Racing games compared to 6 in 2001.
6-7 Sports titles compared to 4 in 2001.
1 RPG compared to 0 in 2001.

There are no puzzle games this time like Oddworld or Fuzion Frenzy. Instead, we will have a small collection of action/adventure games like Kameo, Condemned, etc.

Definitely, but those are the diehard X-box fans who'd be buying one regardless.

Launching early will be futile if they don't have any games to win over people who passes on the X-box in favor of the PS2 or GCN's game library. With no games to bring those people on board, they'll have no incentive to buy a 360 instead of just waiting for the competion to launch with platformers, puzzlers etc.
