Spoiler:
First thing:

1) I'm gonna need a little help with the story here, because there was a time when I was playing it consistently, but had to stop for a couple weeks, and I just got back into it now and finished it, but have a little confusion.

Namely, why/how is Shelby the killer? Was his pursuit of that guy and his rich father all for show? Did he really risk his life to pin the blame on someone else (being thrown into the ocean in his car with Lauren)? And, if he is the Origami Killer, did he really care to even save Lauren? This whole this has me puzzled based on his actions throughout the entire game.

Was he killing out of sadness and confusion due to his childhood trauma with his brother? Did he get joy out of it?

2) I loved this game but geeez, I had a horrible ending. Everyone died but Shelby. Where it all went wrong was when Madison found out Shelby was the killer. She broke out of that room, but when I had to maneuver her through the fire, I pressed one wrong button and the game punished me for it--she burnt to death on the bed!

3) Decisions--here's something that I felt I screwed up in hindsight, but while playing the game, I made decisions based on certain reasons. For example, in one of the trials, you have to kill a man. I opted not to kill him because I was hoping that, at some point later down the line in the story, this man would reemerge as an important component to the story. I figured he might help me later on in determining whre Shaun was and would help me because I spared his life earlier. Guess not.

4) Essentially, my ending was this:

-Due to me completing only 3 out of the 5 trials (couldn't get through the nuclear plant one and I opted not to kill that guy) I didn't have enough letters to make out the address. I had six options and I just took a wild guess (is there another option here besides guessing?) I was wrong, as it ended up being a restaurant.

-Madison burnt to death on the bed and mostly certainly was eviscerated when Shelby's apartment exploded.

-Then, I see a scene with Shaun essentially dying in the sewer/well.

-Ethan puts a gun to his temple and takes his own life.

-Jayden has a conversation with himself, before overdosing and dying on the floor.

-Scott Shelby roams the streets among the people, undiscovered as the killer and unpunished for his crimes.

Loved the game but was a disappointing ending.

So is it always the same killer and it just ends different ways?

I peeked at the spoiler not sure if I will try this but...

My ending was the complete opposite of yours

Spoiler:
-completed four out of 5 trials and listened to the audio tape which you can hear like a seaside background so I was able to piece together the appropriate location
-everyone made it to the end
-Jayden saves Ethan from Shelby
-Ethan saves his son
-Madison convinces the cops not to shoot and informs Ethan that the cops are outside and ready to gun him down
-Shelby dies after a fight with Jayden on top of a compactor?

my epilogues were:
-Media says Shelby revealed as the killer and the cops cover up what they can
-Ethan his son and Madison checking out an apartment they are going to move into
-Jayden celebrated as a hero on some Larry King-like show and then hallucinating about some tanks
-Lauren standing over Shelby's grave cursing him and spitting on his grave.

Glad I got rid of my copy awhile go now

Heavy Rain DLC might be DOA
Jun 21, 2010 @ 11:56pm

The second installment of DLC for Heavy Rain has been put on indefinite hold as Sony is encouraging developer Quantic Dream to focus on the Move version of the game instead.

Quantic Dream’s Guillame de Fondaumière told GameInformer the next DLC episode might go live once the Move patch is finished, but the company will most likely shift focus to its unannounced next project. The Heavy Rain DLC hasn’t been officially canceled yet, but it’s looking like we’re getting the hesitant, “Maybe…,” that comes after we ask mommy if we can go to Disneyland for our birthday next month.

Wow...what a buncha bullshit.

So it was all on the consumer to support this type of storytelling but they're free and clear to abandon it?

The important takeaway on this for me -- someone who doesn't own Heavy Rain but was planning to pick it up at some point -- is not to bother until the Move version is released.

Me either. It's just not compelling to me. I'm sure the story will pick up but when it takes 10 minutes to find the right hotel room because I'm just bumping around and the camera sucks... well, that's more tedious than taking a shower in a game or real life.

I finished the game and really enjoyed it, but if they're canceling the DLC, I might sell my copy at this point.

Cage 'doubts' new Heavy Rain DLC will be completed

by JC Fletcher on Jul 2nd 2010 1:00PM

You'd better hope that playing Heavy Rain with PlayStation Move controls feels like a completely new experience, because that's pretty much the only way you're getting new content. Creator David Cage has added a note of finality to the announcement that work on the "Chronicles" DLC was shelved so the team could concentrate on Move support. Cage told Eurogamer that "Chronicles, as we saw them, were ambitious and with high expectations," and thus would have occupied the team's resources. "As explained, they are on hold to allow the team to work on Move and on new projects, and I doubt they will ever be produced."

Cage sounds pretty put off by the decision to dedicate time to Move support, but at least a little interested in the result. "I understand Sony's decision, and it gave us the opportunity to explore new possibilities regarding controls," Cage said. "I am really proud of this Move edition and think it will surprise many gamers, and show that Move can be used for things other than family entertainment. Now as a writer and director, would I have preferred to work on the three Chronicles I wrote? Guess."

When they sa they are making a Heavy Rain with Move controls...is this something that can be patched up or will you have to repurchase the game again? I was planning on getting this game but if there is a new release coming out, maybe I'll hold off, or wait as the original should go down if a new "move" version is coming out?

Seriously? You're trying to justify spoiling the entire game for people who haven't played it yet?

Look, believe it or not, some people don't sound out the words when they read. They speed read posts for content of interest. Meaning you've read a spoiler before you have a chance to stop yourself.

I've already played the game, but come on.

It takes two seconds to put spoiler tags up. Not sure why people don't do it.

I just finished the game and that's exactly my feelings about when you find out who the killer is. When you go back and think about what you did with the character it just doesn't make sense at all

So please discuss!

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Well after really looking forward to this game, Finally got to it on my Gamefly Queue and I gotta say I am disappointed. Visuals are very much a mixed bag. Sometimes they look very good but most of the time its not very impressive looking either are the close ups in the loading screens. Also I loved Indigo Prophecy, I thought the game had a fantastic errie mood to it and enjoyed the story. Here I found the story to be dull, characters boring and not very likeable expecpt for Madison. The voice acting overall was really bad and took me out of the story.

I am glad I didnt buy it. I had canceled it after having it preordered on Amazon. Just didnt live up to my expectations at all.

So you're like 15 minutes in? I definitely enjoyed it. I don't think I'll play through it again, but it was a fun ride.

Nope, it doesn't. In fact the entire plot revolves around how well you can make various foods with a fork, later on though you get a spork making it easier though. And when you get a wooden spoon? Woo wee does the story get great then.
