I don't care for the Saw vibe at the beginning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO7Xb...layer_embedded

I love this hilarious comment: "If the voice acting is bad, then the voice is realistic. Damn this? game is perfection everywhere!"

Might be my most anticipated "game" next to The Last Guardian. I'm loving everything about the game so far.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I'm not too fond of the gameplay music: http://www.gamecrapping.com/Download...on-GC_720p.mp4
It sounds like it's trying too hard to be dramatic and comes across cheesy. Also, although I love the facial detail, I'm not too thrilled with the facial animation. The silent looks are excellent but they look a touch awkward when they speak. But I guess that matches the awkward line delivery of the actors (in the previous trailer I posted).

Still, I love adventure games so I'm all over this one.

Heavy Rain is my most anticipated game of 2010, but even that's not enough to motivate me to befoul my PS3 with Home.

Mind nuking that HD embed? It causes this thread to lock up in shitty ol IE, but it's all I can use on my work comp haha. (Well not lock up, but it won't load any threads underneath it)

It sucks Angelo Badalamenti wasn't back to compose the music for this game, he did a fantastic job (as usual) with the music in Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy.

I seriously need to play that game. I wish they'd add it to the Playstation Store.

It's a PS2 game though, they'd have to rework it for it to be compatible with all the non BC models that are the standard now.

Oh. I thought all the PS1 games in the store were incompatible as well in disc form and that's why they're available to download. I figured the download was a workaround of sorts (and a way to squeeze more money out of people).

No, every ps3 plays ps1 games. The BC ones also play PS2 is the only difference.

I see. I didn't know that. But why can they all play PS1 games but only some (like my 60GB fat) can play PS2 games? It's a little weird that they can all handle PS1 but not all can handle PS2.

The original two (20 and 60 gig) had the hardware built in to play PS2 games. The next to come out (I can't remember if it was the 40 or 80 gig) had software emulation for PS2 games a la 360. The slim and the later 80gig models don't have any PS2 compatibility. Purely a cost savings maneuver.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I remember the whole hardware difference issue. And I remember that some could emulate. I just though that once they dropped BC they dropped it for both PS1 and PS2 titles.

Anyhoo, why'd they drop emulation? Surely that couldn't be too costly as it's not a hardware solution.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

The company line was they felt it took away from the PS3, made it seem like it couldn't stand on its own, so they removed it. Translated - Too many people were still buying PS2 games and they wanted more focus on more expensive, newer PS3 games ??? not completely sure.

If you have a PC that handle the games modest requirements*, I'd just go that route, just be sure you use your PS3 pad to play it:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/9740/

*OS Windows 98/Me/2000/XP
CPU Pentium III 800MHz
RAM 256MB
Video 32MB DirectX 9.0 video card
Sound card Windows 98/Me/2000/XP compatible
Hard drive 2GB minimum
Input device Keyboard and mouse

And thanks for removing the HD embed

Sadly, my PC is crap. I'm (very) slowly getting the components together to build a new one.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

First online review is up. It's in German so I'll translate via Google and post the occasionally hilarious and always awkward result below in spoilers

Spoiler:
26.01. -- Heavy Rain
Already with "Fahrenheit" was the French developer Quantic Dream Team from the house of attention. Although this book failed the great commercial success, pushing the developers on 26 February 2010 after a similar title. Here is our brand new report "Heavy Rain!

Now that we have already told you in our detailed preview a lot about the story (HERE TO PREVIEW!) Want, we use here the opportunity to refresh your memory a bit and explain briefly what is in this "playable Thriller" goes.

Collapse
A beautiful house, a great wife and two wonderful sons - fantastically shaped the beginning of the adventure around the protagonist Ethan Mars. But after an accident in which one of his sons, loses his life, nothing seems to be so, as it once was.

Drawn by nightmares and the events he lives in a rundown apartment, abandoned by his wife and ekes out a bleak life. Again and again come to his messages about missing children's ears, which, just as his son at the time of the accident, every ten years old.

Alternately, you slip into the roles of ethane and two other people. On the one hand to the FBI agent Norman Jayden, who goes back in the course of his investigation high-tech equipment to catch the child killer, and the role of the private detectives Scott Shelby, who is also behind the killer here.

It was briefly mentioned that none of the actors is a hero, as is often the case in other games. Everybody has his quirks, for example, the agent who is Schmerzmittelsüchtig. You can imagine that the plot lines converge in the game and bring light into the darkness of the events.

Only a movie?
In order to "Heavy Rain"For export operations, use the action buttons, each of which various actions are assigned. These differ depending on the situation. During a conversation, this theme of being in a fight a deliberate blow against the enemy.

In addition, the on-screen actions have been incorporated into the game action so that you can also read the current situation of the protagonist from it. Say, for example, with your wife about the dishes of her grandmother (yes, this conversation can really lead), are the topics to read clearly and distinctly, in hectic situations during the writing up and confused abwackelt while, at the head of the played buzzes person - brilliant!

Control
The person whose role you are currently driving, with the left analog stick and not his head separately controlled with the right stick. This gives a coherent picture, as this greatly adds much realism to the characters.
Sometimes the tasks prove to be somewhat difficult. No sooner have you noticed the request to press a button, this disappeared again, while your main character pocketed more shots. Luckily, you are asked at the beginning of the game on your proficiency with the game pad, which should result for each of the appropriate level of difficulty.

Graphics and Sound
As you probably already have in the various trailers or have seen video technology is the portrayal of the entire game on your breath away. The faces of the characters, the individual pores are visible, and water systems will show an impressive manner, is capable of what services the PlayStation 3.

Sound effects and background music are the graphical splendor in nothing. The characters seem so believable, such as - in my opinion - never in a game before. Partial minimalist sounds followed by impressive track care in every situation for the right atmosphere.

Abstract
For many, like "Heavy Rain"Nothing more than a series of quicktime events, for me it is a real pleasure. The incredibly compelling storyline, coupled with the successful representation of everyday situations that insanely good graphics and everything - Hammer! We start with a score of 92%.

Best price in our comparison: 59.99

This game could be interesting:
•Adventures into Terror

PROS
A gripping story
Depth characters
Spiffy Gameplay
Grandiose Graphics
CONS
No "Game"?
