The more I think about indigo prophecy the more i feel that we should NOT have been pissed about the twist...it's referenced in the game name.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Indigo Prophecy's original name in Europe is Fahrenheit. It was only renamed to Indigo Prophecy when they ported it over to the US. (And all the nudity was censored out as well.) Heavy Rain is supposedly not going to be censored.

As for the comparison to Alan Wake, the only similarity I see is that both games are psychological thrillers. They have absolutely nothing else in common. Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy are adventure-style games reminiscent of the old point-n-click games. Alan Wake is a third-person shooter mostly with the main protagonist bearing a striking resemblance to Max Payne (I guess since the Alan Wake developers made Max Payne series.)

US box art:

A nice reply in the comments on the official PS blog for those that prefer the simple origami cover that Europe is getting:

> Any chance you can have the EU boxart available as a pre formated PDF to print out? Like Madden did with Favre? I really much prefer the EU one.
> We’ll be doing that for those that would prefer the UK artwork. Keep an eye out on the blog around launch!

She does lose it in the game. In fact, she is supposed to go full frontal nude. At least for Europe she will. Hopefully it won't be censored in the US like Indigo Prophecy was.

Supposedly the us version is not censored.

I went to pre-order the other day at Gamestop and the guy had not heard of the free download if you pre-order. Is that only through Amazon?

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I went out today and picked up a used copy of Indigo Prophecy for 10 bucks, since I had never heard of either game until recently. I've got a pretty good idea that I'll like this game, but I figured this was a good way to sample the genre on the cheap and make sure I want to keep my pre-order.

Gamestop is such a joke when it comes to handling pre-orders.
It looks like Best Buy offers the same free downloadable Episode if you pre-order from them.

What is this download Episode? Is it gameplay or a movie or something?

This is in my Amazon Goldbox today...

The more I think about the game the more I'm anticipating getting it. It was a purchase for me but now I am getting it day one.

Sounds like it is gameplay but I'm not really sure.
What I would like to know is if it is available to play now, because if so I think I will head out and make a pre-order.

I don't think the episode will be available until the game launches.

It's gameplay, won't be out until later. And it's called The Taxidermist. I'm willing to bet that it's a more fleshed out story of what is eventually here http://www.joystiq.com/2008/11/03/st...-rain-footage/ It's in french, but you can see the footage.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

I think the concept sounds amazing, but I'm a bit concerned about the gameplay. A lot of the previews have talked about the heavy use of quick time events, and I hate those. My problem is I don't ever think of buttons in terms of their name (except when I am first learning each game), but rather I learn controls in terms of location in my hand. So flashing a signal for me to suddenly hit O does nothing but make me stop and think, "Which one is O again?" Hell, I've used some variation of the PS controller since 1996 and I couldn't remember what the fourth button (square) was...

That is ALL the gameplay ever was in Indigo Prophecy. It was basically a 10 hour game of:

Heck, the GUI almost directly copied it:

Love Indigo Prophecy's atmosphere, hated the Simon gameplay. Hope this one is better.

Have you played Indigo Prophecy?

Don't think of this as much as a game, but an interactive drama.

indigo prophecy was a great, great game. I don't much like the quick time events but the story was amazing. This is a day 1 purchase for me

You all are making me feel guilty. I have Indigo Prophecy (XBOX) still shrink-wrapped in a closet somewhere around here. Is it a BC game?

Indigo Prophecy was alot of fun, but I never finished it. The second half was just really slow.
