That's what it is for me, really. I just use my PS3 all the time, so it's almost a reflex to want to pick up games for it too. I've barely even powered on my 360 in around two years, terrifyingly. It's just habit, nothing against the console or Microsoft or whatever.

Well, a few years ago there was a DVDTalk 360 group that would play on a nightly basis and we had our own thread here that was pretty active. We stuck together from COD2 - Gears 2. Since then the group has evolved as a lot of people went their own way and non-DVDTalk friends were brought into the fold. If I recall, there was an even older Xbox group that was before my time that did the same thing. I guess that's why you don't see any 360 groups on the forum now since the majority of the members already have a lot of people to play with.

As for PS3 guys, they are just a little late to the party.

And I must say that as someone who used to play the 360 exclusively, I've been using the PS3 a lot more these days. I find it more enjoyable for single player games where I use my 360 for multiplayer-only.

All the cool people don't show up when the party first starts. They stroll in when the party is jumpin.

I don't think so, there are more "league" threads for the PS3, that's about it.

I haven't even turned my PS3 on in 3 months

Re: Is this forum moving from 360 to PS3?

I got my first "next gen" system a little over a month ago.. I really wanted the PS3 based on the blu-ray player.. and my son and wife bought my first game for the system.

I've only played the wii a handful of times and while its pretty cool when there is a group playing. I don't think i'd enjoy it solo.

I have only played the 360 maybe 3 times.. no complaints. just didn't have the blu-ray and I refuse to pay their "live" price. I shouldn't have to pay extra after shelling out $ for the system, the game, my ISP and any other accessories I might have bought.

Haven't caught wind of Playstation Plus yet have you?

Both companies are continually working on their interface, features and what not. Live has been a 7 year ongoing process. I don't expect any company to do that for free. Sony has been generous to do it for 3 years, but it's clear the direction they're headed they have realized that having a team of people always working on your features costs money. Where does that money come from? For free I expect about what Nintendo gave us, nothing. Their updates are minor and inconsequential outside of the SD card upgrade (and that was merely to sell more VC content).

I know it's always tossed out there, but $30 a year is $2.50 a month. You can't even get a single drink at Starbucks for that.

I do find it interesting in those 3 years everyone saying MS would have to eventually go free because of the PS3, and it turned out to be the exact opposite.

Playstation Network is going to stay pretty much the same for free users, they're just adding some exclusive downloads, demos, and discounts for subscribers. As long as I can still have a friends list, send and receive messages, play multiplayer and purchase DLC (full price -- whatever), then I couldn't really care less about the rest of that crap.

MP is pretty much the only reason I would connect my game system to the internet.

You guys aren't interested in demos? Downloadable games? DLC expansions? Added features to your OS? Now you guys are just being factitious and putting on your best Sony face.

To be fair, you download an update from Sony you're just as likely to have old features removed as you are to have new ones added.

Re: Is this forum moving from 360 to PS3?

I moved the other way. I used to game fully on the PS3 and the past year I game mostly on the 360. I like both consoles though, but Live is just a much better service than PSN.

I agree that the cost of the "live" account is very small.... I just don't like the principal behind it.

and no I have no idea what playstation plus is..

And I refuse to pay starbucks prices too! =)

I've never understood this approach. It's a service. Why should it be free?

I mean, my iPhone can do all these great things like play movies, games, books, etc and I've bought all this stuff for it, but PAY to use it as a phone? FUCK THAT NOISE! ;-)

I certainly see your point (though the cell phone analogy breaks down VERY quickly). Just because you paid money for the hardware and other infrastructure doesn't mean you shouldn't have to pay for a specific service associated with it. On the other hand, just because it's a service doesn't mean it must have a charge associated with it. There's certainly precedent for free services. For example, the Kindle has free 3G connectivity. Or more to the point of this thread, Nintendo and Sony have free online multi-player. Now, many would argue that just like products, you usually get what you pay for with services and that's really what these discussions always come down to. Tons of people pay for it on the 360, because they feel it's worth it and there's really nothing wrong with that. Likewise, for many the free online multiplayer on the PS3 is good enough that they don't feel the need to pay for it on another console...that's not really wrong either. Since there's choice, it's all about the value to the individual consumer.

Re: Is this forum moving from 360 to PS3?

I got my 360 in January 2006 and had it die on my twice due to RROD (the second and final time was just out of the 3 year warranty period and MS wouldn't budge on doing it for free). So I decided to not give them any more of my money for a poorly designed product. A few months later I decided to pick up a PS3 Slim for Games and BluRay and have been loving it. Sure the online play isn't usually as good as with the 360 due to not everyone having a headset or some having shitty headsets, but hey for no extra cost I can't complain. Netflix, XMB, movie rentals, Blu Ray, and games all in one box? PS3 is great for me.

Re: Is this forum moving from 360 to PS3?

I don't think it's moving much at all but more like expanding. Just more people have joined, more games to play, more types of games out there and online gaming itself has grown so it all contributes.

I was around when there was a 'DVD Talk' XBox group playing the first Halo and it small and tight. It was mainly formed out of frustration with childess behavior encounted on XBox. We now have 360 and PS3 with games gallore with ten times larger "friends" lists. My only regret is in the early days it was more of a "close neighborhood gathering" come weekends while now it's hope & pray you see someone on and they want to hook up.
