Toys R Us will have a Black Friday Wii U bundle, although it's the 8 GB Skylanders Swap Force one. Still only $200, though, and it does include Nintendo Land.

I filled up my Wii U internal memory and now need to buy a USB external drive. Super Smash Bros takes like like 15 gigs!

How bizarre. I had all intentions of picking it up next weekend.

Sega is pretty much ruining their best franchise. With most of the games since Sonic Adventure 2 being bullshit I just can't believe they wouldn't have taken the time to make a better game after the bad pub at E3.

Because it's Sonic I may pick it up eventually when it's $20 or less, depending if they create patches to fix most of the problems with it.

I thought Sonic Colors was pretty damn good, but that was the exception.

I had not played the first, but looking at the gameplay footage it looks like a very Devil May Cry-ish sort of game, but all the reviews play up the character as being very sexualized and nudity being prevalent. Obviously the game is rated M, but how much are those elements actually played up? If the rating is more for violence and language that might be more passable.
I played Bayonetta on Xbox. The character is sexy. Her costume is made from her hair. Certain special attacks utilize her hair. This causes more of her skin to be seen as her costume grows smaller, but I don't recall any nudity. I don't recall her having any sexual encounters. Most people would probably get more titillation from watching reruns of Baywatch. I doubt the second game is any different.

Never been a huge Sonic fan, but Generations was fantastic. As are Sonic Racing Transformed and Sonic Dash on mobile.

So not totally ruined. Just one out of every 4-5 games is any good.

Mario Kart 8 DLC is out and it's got some really good tracks. I was worried at first because the first track in the DLC "Yoshi Circuit" is boring and the worst track in the game and then it's followed by the Excitebike track which isn't bad just bland. Thankfully it picks up after that. The F-Zero, Legend of Zelda and Wario's Gold Mine are all top tier tracks. Love that they switched the coins on the LoZ course to rupees and they make the rupee noise when you pick them up.

I liked that there are no coins laying around on the F-Zero track, but your coin count goes up if you drive through the purple pit areas.

Any reason NOT to get the 8gb model?

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Unless you're getting the Skylanders Swap Force bundle, I don't think you can get a new 8GB model anymore. I see 8 GB refurbs at Gamespot, but the 32GB refurbs direct from Nintendo are cheaper (and likely superior in quality). The only thing is that if you get an 8 GB system and plan on playing basically anything you download from the eShop (bearing in mind that Nintendo does give away games with a bunch of their promotions), you'll need to buy an external hard drive too.

Yeah, I was considering that Skylanders model. I'll probably just get the 32 GB next time it comes around for 260 (since the Black Friday deal isn't exactly a deal).

I think even with the 32GB you're going to need an external hard drive anyway.

You spend $50 and get an external.

Could you please elaborate? Is it because of the large number of downloadable or games, or do disc games require a certain amount of space?

I've only bought a handful of eShop games and I've got a ton of space left on my 32 GB. I don't like to spend that much on the eShop since my understanding is that games are tied to your console, not your username (like the Wii). Or has that changed?

Speaking if which, in which century are we going to get cloud saves for Wii U? Has anyone heard anything about that recently?

That's not going to happen. Nintendo is pretty much behind a generation in terms of anything internet related.

Nintendo's games tend to be impressively tiny. Super Mario 3D World, for instance, is only 1.7 gigs -- a lot of AAA have patches that size, and that's an entire (and visually stunning) game! Mario Kart 8 is 4.9 gigs, Game and Wario is 3.9 gigs, Wind Waker HD is 2.4 gigs, etc.

I have a 32 gig system with a few 'free' eShop games (Game and Wario, Wii Party U, and Wii Fit U), and I still have tons of space.

If you're going to be primarily physical with just a few full game downloads, you don't need to fret about a hard drive.

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

Yeah, less than a year in, I've already had to delete game info from my PS4 to free up space for new games, whereas my Wii U still has a ton of empty space. But to be fair, the PS4 installs massive amounts of game info for every game, where as the U mostly just reads games off disc.

Super Smash Bros is around 15 gigs. I had to delete some games to make room for it. An external harddrive for the Wii U is now on the xmas list.

Yep just the fact that Super Smash is 15 gigs. I like to download demos and stuff, so 32gb is paltry for me.

I have a 32gb and after freeing up space for Smash Bros, i only have Mario World, Mario Kart 8, and like one other game (windwaker, i think).
