I have $200 in Gamestop Giftcards... any word on the best XB1 bundle deals coming up through them? They have for $350 the Assassins Creed bundle with 2 AC games, but I'm not a huge fan of the franchise.

These are the bundle options.

COD is $449 (because of a 1TB HDD)
AC is $349
SO is $349

As others have said, you might get a free game, accessory, or Live card thrown in on Black Friday, so you might want to wait unless you want it before then.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I bought the XB1 for my kids last Christmas but since none of their friends have upgraded from the 360 I'm pretty much the only one who uses it. My year's worth of gaming has consisted almost entirely of Powerstar Golf, FIFA 14, and now Forza Horizon 2. I don't use it for TV or apps and only the occasional BluRay when the PS3 goes bonkers. The Kinect is used for two purposes -- "Pass the ball you %$^&" in FIFA and "Anna" nav in Forza. Even with that limited scope I've still enjoyed the heck out of it and easily got a couple hundreds bucks of entertainment out of it.

On Nov. 8th you could get a SSO bundle at Best Buy which includes console, SSO game and year of live for $315 if you use the 10% movers coupon.

I paid $500 + 50 for live + 60 for SSO. $610 total. An extra $295 for the privelage of playing Dead Rising 3 and having a Kinect in my closet. Oh yeah....Day One emblem on my controller.

Seriously. Fuck you Microsoft. Really mostly my own stupid fault. Never again.
I know you admit it's your own fault, but I don't see how someone buy's a console at launch and only plays two games for the entire first year. I mean... you had to have known the list of upcoming games an idea of what else you would want to play on it, right?

That said, it would be cool if Microsoft did something for Day One buyers; like give reward points or a free game for those that have the Day One Achievement or something.

That CoD console is pretty sharp. I like that one.

I had enough fun with the system in the 1st year to justify the purchase. DR3 and Titanfall were both worth it. Watch Dogs was good, but I never finished that. I'd say that's on par or better than most new launch consoles 1st year of games.

My kid is on his 360 everyday playing with all his friends. The one or two who do have a XB1 still play on their 360 because the majority of them have not upgraded.

So I am not looking to upgrade him until he starts asking for it, which looks like will be awhile. I still have a large enough backlog of 360 games that I won't need to upgrade mine for at least another year or two.

Going the COD bundle route.

I bought a Day One, ebay'd the kinect awhile ago, and was lucky to sell the One on craigslist a week ago.

I also have had a blast playing it for a year and I have missed not being able to game a little this past week.

Really looking forward to the storage increase.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017

I'm really not raging. Honest. I know what I was doing. I am mad at myself because I was already getting a PS4 and was totally on the fence about getting an xbox one. Just made a poor decision.

Because the discounts have been so deep, so quickly, I think it would be nice if Microsoft did something like throw early adopters a $20 game. Ryse or Forza 5 or some shit. Just as a gesture. I have no interest in these games (which furthers the point that I shouldn't have bought the console) but it would be a nice "hey. We know you guys got kinda hosed. Here ya go."

Honestly I am way more pissed that almost a year after release we still don't have a kinect extension cord.

While I'm in no way upset that I bought a Day 1 Xbox, I'm definitely jealous of some of these recent deals. Giving SO bundle buyers a free copy of Ryse is kind of a dick move though honestly. They already get a white console, game AND $50 off. Why do they need another bonus? People with the Day 1 achievement should get a year of live or at least $20 in Xbox currency or something.

Either way though, I'm happy I got to play over 30 games for a full year on my Xbox one

I don't think they would (nor should they) give away a year of live. That is a lost $50-$60 to them. Something someone would have bought from them anyway so that would be lost income.

A crappy launch title however is different. They could offer a choice of a couple of launch game codes to early adopters and it wouldn't cost them much of anything. Have them be digital download codes of Forza 5, Ryse, Zoo Tycoon or whatever. Pick 2 of them. Again would cost them next to nothing as these are very unlikely to be "lost" sales. Nobody getting the console now would be buying those games most likely.

Anyway, I would much prefer the option to PURCHASE a Kinect extension cord than any free launch game.

That would be a great idea, let us pick one of the 3 MS launch titles. Then I could finally try Zoo Tycoon

The free game was supposed to be for people who bought the SO bundle but didn't get the $50 discount. You had to activate the SO redemption by 10/31 -- the day before the discount took place. Of course some people got an early price match and got both, but that wasn't the idea.

Speaking of First World Problems : I tried the free Viking game. Looks and plays like a shitty Sega Genesis game. The only difference between this game and the average 99 cent indie game on the 360 is that this one has Achievements (apparently). Thanks for almost nothing, Microsoft!

Zoo Tycoon was surprisingly fun imo.

I'm just hoping Ryse goes for free sometime. I kind of want to try it.

Picked up the Sunset Overdrive bundle, with trade-in and C73 code came out to $254 after tax.

Liking the changes from the last time I used an Xbox One and really like the HDMI pass-thru for the cable box now (I have a Harmony remote, turns on the Xbox One and Cable Box simultaneously. Don't mind it being on all the time, most computers usually are). Not a big fan of Sunset Overdrive yet, sort of wish I sold the game code. But everything else is going pretty well with it.

No rage here - and I was a day one adopter. I think I understood that the early game pickings would be slim, and there was no 3d blu support (at the time). Still, I guess I saw what the system "could" ultimately become - and I've been more and more happy with the system as time has gone on.

Titanfall was/is fun. Sunset Overdrive has been a blast to play. The normal staples (CoD, Madden) are enjoyable. Arcade games - especially Pinball FX2 - have given me other things to play when I need a change of pace.

I was concerned at first that I was going to need my PS3 and the XB1. Now, I'm planning on moving my PS3 in the near future.

I'm trying to buy Forza Horizon 2 but want to get it digitally (it's the kind of game I play inbetween other games, so having it installed with no disc only makes sense). Is the only way to get a sale price on that right now to use in-store coupons/gcs on Microsoft Points or have they been doing fairly regular sales on XOne digital games?

I never thought I'd live in a world where one person sees that another person got Ryse for free, and jealousy ensued.

No early adopter remorse here. Do I wish they threw "Day One" owners an extra bone? Sure. But I'm not upset about it.

Sales seem kind of sparse, honestly. Personally, I just buy the MS currency cards from Costco, since they're cheaper than face value. If you have coupons or gift cards for other stores, that's a good option. Also, FH2 is awesome. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I have, and that's without ever doing multiplayer (yet).
