So far it is a really good deal if you like the games in the vault.

Last month was the first time in 6 years I went over my cap with AT&T, and was charged $20 without any warning. It was enough for me to cancel my service and move over to Charter. Went from 6mbps to 100mbps and no cap. I should have jumped ship years ago.

Has anyone had to send their XOne back to Microsoft for repair? Mine has completely stopped reading discs. Doesn't even sound like they're spinning in the tray. I'm getting error 80820002 -- Couldn't read disc.
From what little research I've done, it's a known defect with the hardware. I've tried all of the fixes -- power cycling, changing power save options, tilting the Xbox back when I put a disc in. Nothing works, so there's the possibility the unit is genuinely faulty.
On the other hand, I have a two year old who has been known to put things into the disc drive. I hit eject once and a dvd came out upside down. Another time a business card came out (no shit). So I'm worried that something she did damaged the console.
However, the Xbox worked fine since the last time she put something in there, so this not reading discs is out of the blue. Think I should send it in and hope for the best, or say fuck it and crack it open myself (not that I'd know what I was looking for in the first place)?

I don't think I would chance opening it up and voiding the warranty. I would order a coffin (assuming they still do that) and hope for the best. Worst case they find something in there and don't cover it, I would assume it would still be a cheaper fix than replacing it.

Send it in to MS. They may charge you to replace the drive, but you might get lucky, and they'll do it for free. It's worth a shot.

More specifically it's free to stream this week. You won't own the episode.
The best deal this week appears to be Defense Grid 2 for 75% off $6.25.
The strangest deal is NHL 15 for 50% off ($30) less than a week after it went into the Vault for EA Access.

I haven't done the research, but am I assuming this to be correct:
I bought 10 XO games around the holidays. At that time, I threw them all in my XO just wanting to get a quick peek at each game. To my surprise, you can't play until the game is downloaded to the HD. I thought this was something Microsoft had gotten rid of when everyone raged after details of the system emerged (always online, etc).
After downloading 10 (ONLY 10!!!) games, the HD is 96% full.
Does this mean if I want to play any additional games, I'm going to have to delete something else off the HD, and go through the whole downloading/redownloading process again if I want to play that game again? Am I losing game data when I remove it from the HD, or just the ability to play it?

Yeah, its basic math.
Just hook up an external drive.
I'm using a 4TB so I don't have to worry for quite awhile.

But yeah, you're losing your game data when you uninstall, think of it like uninstalling a game on a PC. C:\Program Files\Game is completely gone when you remove it, at most you have an inactive icon left sitting on your desktop. . Keep in mind if you don't want to redownload patches and just try the game out, just play offline. The games still need to install, though.

I was actually wondering the same thing. It sounds like uninstalling a game will retain the saved games, either locally or in the cloud via Xbox Live.

The information on these pages seems to indicate that saved games should stick around, especially if you've connected them to the cloud.

Still, if they're games you own and plan on playing later, it's probably easier just to buy a decent sized external drive.

Yup. Plus if you press the menu-button when over a game, you can select "Manage game." This will allow you to move or delete the game itself, and (usually) has a separate option for your unique save files as well. So, if you really wanted to, I think you can put your "games" on the external drive and put your "saves" on the built-in HDD. Either way, XBL should be saving them to the cloud as well.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017
What Dan said. If you go into the Manage screen, you'll see the game install file and a separate save file. You can choose to delete everything for that game or the individual files. If you try to delete the save file, the system will ask you if you want to delete only your local version or both the local version and the cloud version.
If you delete the game install, any downloaded patches go with it.
