There are lots of young people, plenty of them under 20, making a decent wage doing it. So the fact that playing games is better than working at a drive-thru window is another draw.

Seeing as my sons spend a part of most evenings watching gameplay videos on YouTube this is right up their alley. I swear they spend more time watching other people play games than they do playing themselves.

"Dad, Ryse is only $40 this week! Let us buy it so we can finally play a game ourselves!"
"NO. Keep watching that other dickbag stream it on Twitch!"

Tap buttons randomly on your controller - other than not actually unlocking Achievements at a rapid clip, I doubt there would be much difference.

This is definitely a thing now. Twitch has entire communities built up around watching one specific person play one specific game.

I disagree.
I bought it at 60 at launch and both my daughter and I had a good bit of fun with it. She easily logged 15 hours playing the thing (would be my guess) just fooling around with the animals and such.
Granted, if Minecraft was on the XO then she wouldn't have touched it but without access to Minecraft it was a good game.

You can preorder the Titanfall bundle from the Microsoft Store for $474.99 (plus tax). You have to send a text to get the coupon code but it works.

Xbox One March update adds Dolby Digital optical audio support
The March system update for the Xbox One will allow the console to output Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound over an optical audio cable via bitstream, Polygon can report.
The Xbox One launched without support for Dolby Digital, one of the most ubiquitous surround-sound audio standards. Right now, the system can only output DTS Digital Surround, or uncompressed stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 audio, over HDMI; if you're using an optical cable, the console currently supports uncompressed stereo or 5.1 sound.
Albert Penello, director of product planning for Microsoft's Xbox division, said one day before the Xbox One launch last November that Dolby Digital support wouldn't be ready in time for launch because of a "[software] scheduling issue," and confirmed that Microsoft would add the feature eventually. "I know people are disappointed, but we will have it."
Adding support for Dolby Digital audio output should instantly make the Xbox One compatible with a range of surround-sound headsets from third-party manufacturers such as Astro Gaming and Turtle Beach. We tested a beta version of the March update with some movies over a wired Astro A40 headset, and were able to get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound from the console to our ears. You can see an image of the new Xbox One audio settings to the right.
Microsoft is scheduled to release the Xbox One's March update before the March 11 launch of Titanfall. The company announced earlier this month that the system update will improve the console's suite of multiplayer features, such as game invites, party chat and the friends list interface. You can see the new elements in action in a walkthrough video that Microsoft released this week.

From what we know about the March update, most of this from NeoGAF:
General changes:
General changes:
- Option to disable Kinect hand gestures while watching a video.
- Kinect gesture and voice command tutorials are in the Kinect settings menu
- Ability to choose the value by which volume increases or decreases when using the “Xbox, Volume Up” or Xbox, Volume Down” voice commands.
- Optical audio is now supported.
- Some users are currently experiencing issues with this feature
- "Resume Games Quickly" is no longer in Beta, the Beta label in settings has been removed.
- Twitch streaming via an Xbox One will be enabled in this update.
- The “Xbox, Broadcast” voice command will begin a Twitch streaming session. Using this command during the early access period will only start the Twitch app.
- As before, you will be able to view Twitch streams that are being broadcasted from other systems i.e. PS4, PC, etc.
- Chat is now enabled.
- Name color and emoticons included.
- Viewers can send party invites to Broadcasters. Broadcasters, in turn, can send invites to viewers in the chat.
- Ability to broadcast a full-screen view of the game you're playing or use an on-screen viewer indicator to keep an eye on how popular your live broadcast is.
- Ability to archive broadcasts.
- Ability to set up a notification for when a Favorite begins a broadcast.
- Earn unique Media Achievements.
- Xbox LIVE policy moderators will be keeping an eye out for abuse of the Twitch app and have the ability to temporarily or permanently ban players. They can also remove their ability to broadcast over Twitch, without banning them.
- Ability to see what games/apps your party members are using if they are not in the same game as you.
- “Turn Party Chat On” is turned on by default.
- Option to send someone a Party invite, Game invite, or Party & Game invite.
- Option to invite Party to Game.
- On the Dashboard, the Friends App will cycle through the number of friends, favorites, and broadcasters who are currently online.
- Friends are listed by whoever is currently online.
- People who are listed as Favorites will show up first and will have a star on the top right side of their gamerpic.
- An icon in the upper corner of someone's name within your followers list will show you if you are following them back yet or not. If the icon appears then you are following them back.
- Ability to see Recent Players.
- Find Someone is on the top level page.
- New Menu button options (Send message, Invite to Party, Compare games, Find someone, and People I’ve blocked).
- New Profile page options allow you to send game and party invites.
- This is a firmware patch that will allow the Xbox One Headset Adapter to work with your Xbox One Controller.

re: Xbox One: S $249 Now / X $499 November 7 2017
I've had the March update for a about a week and the updated Friends list is so much nicer. I also updated my two controllers which was pretty cool and easy to do. I have yet to do anything in a Party, and am still pissed that it is taking even longer to implement friend notifications. All of these online updates are essentially useless until they fix that one major flaw. How am I supposed to start a party and play with friends if the damn thing never tells me when one of them comes online?? Easily should have been a day one patch, much more important than a battery indicator or storage management.

Same here. Looks and feels the same, but delving into all the settings menus showed a bunch of new stuff under the hood. This is the right way for MS to go, as the 360 arguably suffered from too many UI overhauls, although I actually think the latest one is the best it has been, personally.

Still no auto-sign in, right? That bothers me more than anything. The system goes into power-save mode. I could fire it up and start playing my game immediately except that it has to sign me out and then back in rather than just assume it's still me if I don't have my Kinect functioning. Who thought that was a good idea?

Agreed. In addition, the Kinect auto sign in was randomly disconnecting my controller during play. I am still tinkering, but once I turned that off my controller has not done it yet.
Obviously Microsoft is smarter than I am, but I just don't understand why they didn't take the final 360 UI and just adjust and add a little to it. Just doesn't seem that hard.
Regardless, the dolby digital patch is huge for me and the party chat as well.

Sadly they will not be, hence my anger. I have had the March 11th update. Someone mistakenly said that they would be included and MS confirmed that they are not and will be in a "future update" whenever the hell that is.
