Still, might pick this up as it seems to be a return to form for the series.
This game has it.

Pretty sure every COD since Black Ops has had them. MW3 might not have but I can't remember now.

My brother played the crap out Black Ops combat training. He has MS so his hands don't work well enough to take on humans but bots on easy are usually the perfect speed for him.

I've only ever played Battlefield multiplayer. It's hard getting used to the speed of this one. It seems so twitch based.

The bot system on this one is awesome, the "Combat Readiness Program." Here is a fairly funny article about it:
http://kotaku.com/a-haven-for-horrib...ers-1654115681

It's extremely customizable--you can have as many or as few bots as you want, from Recruit to Veteran (or mixed). It can be most of the fun without most of the extreme aggravation of real online MP, and it definitely helps with getting familiar with the maps.

The biggest aggravation of AW's online multiplayer is the fact that Activision is still cheap and insists on using peer-to-peer based connections. I've had to rage quit a few matches because of how awful the lag was.

Say what you will about Titanfall, but they used dedicated servers and I never once had an issue with lag.

It's Participation Ribbon mode. It's awesome. Constant positive reinforcement. You feel like a god.

Question about matchmaking: If I pick this up today, will I be matched only with players who are at my same level, or is there a chance some higher level players will be in that match? Is it pretty well balanced?

You'll be in with pretty much anyone. But does it really matter? I'm like lvl 22 and I'm still horrible. I'm just at that because I've been playing since day one. I was in a match with a guy who was a 44 and he did even worse than me.

As stated above, there's the offline with bots mode and the Combat Readiness Program to help get your feet wet.

Personally, I don't care what my kill/death ratio is. For the record it's 0.61 at the moment

Matchmaking is not skill based at all. It's supposed to be connection based. The skill of the people you end up in a room with is pretty random.

Yeah I mean leveling up seems to be more weighted on the frequency of play more so than actual skill, at least for awhile.

It's so much more fun with friends. I put 20 days into MW2 and Black Ops both back when I had 10-12 friends who played the game regularly. My play time has steadily gone down with each game since though as my friends have dropped out.

Even though I'm straight solo on AW I'll probably still put more time into it that I did with Ghosts.

Yes you get a group a friends and it's a blast with games like capture the flag etc. it's a quick level up system til you get higher up. I'm on level 36 and not that great but still ok. The Double XP weekend certainly helps

Re: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Sledgehammer Games; 11/2014, PS3/PS4/360/XO/PC)

Picked this up yesterday, and I'm enjoying the shit out of it. A nice little migraine, that's carried over into this morning unfortunately, kept me from playing too much last night, but the couple hours u did play were a lot of fun. More fun than I've had with a COD in years.

With the double xp this weekend, I'm leveling and unlocking things faster than I can figure out what to do with them.

Is there generally a match type in MP that lends to faster leveling or getting more XP?

You get more points with TD and KC as opposed to FFA. Not sure about other modes

I'm having the annoying issue where my friends can't stay in a party. It's very frustrating.

I've been playing the storymode and I have to say that it is a bit disappointing. They still funnel you from section to section with very little option for alternate routes to take care of an objective. Plus, they allow you to use the advance tech in some moments and then in other moments they are not available. My last complaint will be how in the environments only some things will show damage. I was shooting the hell out of some of the lights in that first level leaving no damage at all. And if I have to see that damn red suitcase again.

On hardcore? Domination or Search and Destroy.

Standard? In addition to those two, Hardpoint.

Agreed. Where's the non linear gameplay? Same old COD.

Our library got the last gen versions in, so I guess that's good enough to play through the campaign.

In multi-player, the cars aren't destructible? A guy was hiding behind it, launched a grenade to blow it up, nothing.

I've blown up vehicles by shooting them in MP.
