Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

That's interesting. I wonder if the XO couldn't run it or whether it was a marketing decision. Looks to be a slow psychological horror game. Not for me, even if I owned a XSX, which I don't.

When did they say Flight Sim comes to XSX?

Don't you have a PS5 to break?

Playing the beginning of The Medium is such a weird combo of nice ray-tracing effects and clunky models and gameplay.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

I got my Series X today. Technically was supposed to arrive in two weeks, but hey, no complaints. (I didn't get the digital codes I was supposed to get, so I reached back out to Gamestop. But I guess they're a little busy right now.)
Kinda surprised MS didn't include a Game Pass trial code.
Setup was pretty easy (once I rearranged my HDMI ports - there's too much stuff plugged in.) I did have to download the Xbox app which I didn't have. Had to play with some settings and will still have to adjust my Harmony remote. Originally had a brief issue with not seeing 4k, but I was going through a splitter.
I'm sorry, this thing is still ugly/stocky. It does fit in my TV stand and I'm sure I'll get used to it, it's just weird.
Mostly downloading and updating stuff. I had 2 external hard drives so I took one but the other is still connected to my One. Now to decide what do to with the One. I still have my 360 connected for that twice-a-year Rock Band urge.
The only thing I've noticed so far is that it booted up really fast, and the controller feels really nice. I look forward to using the 'save state' thing and of course less loading time.I'm hoping my rechargeable battery kit works for the XSX controllers, but if not, I'm looking at this one
Amazon Amazon
Probably a huge "it depends", but is there any consensus on which is better, 4k at 60 hz, or 1080p at 120 hz? My tv, at least the current connection, doesn't do 4k at 120hz.

The old battery packs work on the new controllers.

...though the charging port on the controller is USB-C rather than microUSB. You can use the same pack but you’ll need a different cable. You probably have several already, though.

Just don't get an Xbox One charge pack that comes with it's own battery door, that will not fit the Series controllers.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Apologies, I had bought a battery pack that charges separate from the controller so I didn't think of the charging cable, but doesn't the system come with a cable (or can that not be used to charge?)

Or you can just buy a couple of eneloops.

Xbox Series X will be in short supply until at least June, Microsoft admits.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Can anyone here confirm they have tried Rock Band 4 on the new Xbox Series X?

If so, how did it look and play?

About the only thing I play regularly on my Xbox One is Rock Band 4 and Pinball Arcade/FX with the occasional couple years old game to actually try something new. It would be nice to know if it dies or I get the urge to upgrade eventually, that I don't have to worry about keeping the X1 around. I still weep for the loss of Beatles Rock Band on my 360.

Also, how the the Series X as far as a UHD player? That's the other thing I use my current X1 for.

Rock Band 4 plays fine on the Series X. It took a while to download and import the 900+ songs that I’ve accumulated since the first game, but that’s always been the case with importing songs. The instruments paired up without any issues and I haven’t experienced glitches so far.

It's sufficient. I haven't had any issues in playing discs, and the drive is quiet enough while running (unlike the PS5 which is... louder... while playing UHD discs).
User interface is a little wonky, but same as on the last generation of Xbox.
Biggest downside, IMO, is that it doesn't support Dolby Vision from UHD discs, and may never. So if you care about HDR options, that's worth being aware of.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

Weird I bought Control: UE on Xbox back in November when they had it on sale. Trying to DL now and it says I can get regular version but not UE. I will DL and see what's up. Maybe just a glitch. If this doesn't work, what is best way to resolve this? Tweet MS support?

Edit: Looks like it is a glitch. DL'd game, then it allowed me to DL all the DLC content.

It is odd. When I try to DL Control Ultimate Edition it tells me I have to buy (already did obviously). But I was able to get the DLC after I DL'd the base game. I am so confused.

Even weirder is if I go to the actual website, it shows I own it and I can download and install on my system.

Weird shit

If the icon has the black background, then that is the new Ultimate Edition. If it has a white background, then that is the Xbox One only version.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

just got my Series X. then got this Fire TV cube (little pricey at $120) my friend told me about. had no idea would be as great as is.: Facebook Marketplace, which i never done before and was wary (only caveat, is you pick up yourself. but it is local and was on way home from work and totally worth it for brand, new sealed at only $50 premium. we even googled earthed the neighborhood and it looked nice so i couldn't not, plus it was cash on site, so nothing to lose. i was thrilled and it literally took me seconds to set up and then Alexa, it's heaven incarnate and it freaking controls everything on every input, except Blu-ray strangely. Which is Sony. It detects it and knows which input and switches to the input, but that is it, but no other commands can i do. Maybe cause it's modded? i dunno, but only changes inputs, it won't turn on or off or other commands on blu-ray only. other inputs just fine.

What in the world?

Be honest, did you really get a series X or you just couldn't find the Fire TV thread and had this post all written up or something?
