Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Went to Best Buy to price match NFM on Fantasia and was refused because they said NFM's price was the DVD price and not Blu-ray. I didn't argue the point too much just told them I'd pass and left my purchases at the counter and walked out. Had no problem price matching at the Walmart across the street ($6.79 before tax after all said and done). Normally I have zero problems price matching at Best Buy (in fact their system usually alerts them of the price match at NFM and I don't even have to say anything), but tonight I think I got some relatively new employees who weren't too interested in keeping my business. Walmart or Best Buy, really makes no difference on which one gets my money.

Also, the automatic $10 off at Target seems to be working for when you buy 2x Fantasia or 2x of The Sorcerer's Apprentice as well.

Wait till you see how the "old" bonus features are presented on the new blu-ray...you might have wished you kept the dvd set.

Oooh, big mistake on getting rid of the box set. Sorry to break the news to you, but this time around Disney did not port over all of the special features from the box set on to the blu-ray release. The only features found on the BD from the previous DVD release are the commentaries; every thing else is temporarily downloadable through BD-Live.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Will never part with my Fantasia Anthology for this reason.
I generally enjoy the quality of Disney BDs (they and Criterion get more of my BD dollars than anyone else), but as a rule of thumb, they have been very poor at keeping all the bonus features on BD re-releases of classics on DVD. Always wise to do research on the bonus features before parting with a Disney DVD, if the features are something you want.

For the military members, I price matched the Target ad at the Navy Exchange and got the bluray 4-disc Fanatasia and 2-disc SA for under $21 with no tax. They had a lot of them on display.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Are we only talking about extra features from the DVD boxset, or are there features from the stand-alone editions from Fantasia and/or Fantasia 2000 that are absent?

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Had to go to two different Targets this morning to pick up Fantasia and got the last one in stock at the second store. I asked a CS rep if they had anymore copies in the back with the slipcover since they're only copy was in one of those plastic cases. She brought out a slipcover and gave it to me. $26.74 out the door for Fantasia and Sorceror's Apprentice.

I was able to get Fantasia and Sorcerer's Apprentice (2-Disc) for $22.98 total from Target around 11:30 AM today. No problems with either coupon.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I went to Best Buy this evening. I price matched The Sorcerer's Apprentice (3-Disc) from Target for $26.99. I used the $10 DMR coupon for this and Fantasia (4-Disc), as well as the $10 upgrade coupon for coupon. It was a new checkout girl show she had to get a manager to help her with the price matching. The manager asked why I had 3 coupons and only 2 items. I explained to him that one coupon was the standard $10 off that Disney has been doing for most movies, and the other coupon was an upgrade coupon. I showed him that they had different expiration dates, so they were different coupons. His answer, "Ok. No problem."
$19.80 out the door.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
what a travail.
I went to Target and Best Buy at the Fox Hills mall at the corner of Culver City. Both sold out. No worries, I figure, I'll just zip down to the less popular target on Jefferson in Culver, but strike out there as well. A bit annoyed now, I head over to the Culver Best Buy on Overland/Washington (this is actually not much driving, up to this point). I'm now 0 for 4. I ask the clerk at BB to check other nearby stores for me. He says there is one in the store (hah) but that there are three at the BB on Pico/Sawtelle and 16 at the BB in westwood. Westwood is a pain in the ass to drive to, worse to drive IN (the streets were drawn by an evil malicious cthulhu demon who hopes to feast on the rage of any who venture to that hellhole), and even worse to park at, so I'm hoping not to go there. Drive all the way to Sawtelle and look thoroughly for it there, it is NOT in stock. get another BB employee to check, slightly denser than the first one, but it is not to be found in the store, Westwood still says it has 16 copies. I sigh, grit my teeth and drive into demonville. I park, the parking lot says it is $10 for the first fifteen minutes and for every fifteen minutes thereafter, or two hours free if you validate. See why I hate it? $40/hour! The do have fantasia. I go to check out, the guy says he can't price match since I don't have an ad but, bizarrely, says I should go to the computers section and have them look it up for me on a computer and price match it there so he has proof of it. this makes no sense to me as I've seen BB employees check things on the net from register computers before. but he insists he can't do anything at the front desk. I ask computer, and the guy looks at me like I'm crazy, says he can't do anything there and that I should go to CS. I wait forever at CS and finally get them to pricematch it, unfortunately I get stuck with the manager. she price matches it for me but when I pull out the coupon she says I can't have both the coupon and the price match! I should have saved fifteen minutes and just checked out at the register! grr... I check out, only she forgets to scan the rewards card I have out and on top of the bluray. She says I can just enter the receipt online and get my points, but I've been royally screwed by that before (the process does not work whatsoever to enter a receipt online and get credited, you have to call and wait on hold to speak to ahuman being to get it to work) so I made her void the transaction and do it again. I did remember to validate my parking, so at least that was free.
all because I didn't go out and get it yesterday, since I've used a lot of these DMR coupons this year and never had a supply issue I didn't figure there'd be one this time, so the first time I don't buy on release day is also the first time there's a shortage of stock. ugh.

$19.80 out the door.
Drove to other Best Buy and retrieved the disks from where they were being held. Went to purchase and used the coupons but the $10 discount was not applied. Cashier called the manager and was told that it was one or the other, either coupons or discount. I explained to cashier that at other Best Buy customer service rep told me that everything was applicable and that I would not have driven over here if this was the case. I also told him that many others had been able to use all discounts. He called for the manager again but then went ahead and manually applied a $5 discount to each item. I thanked him and went on my way.
Obviously no policy at any of these stores with all the inconsistency. Seems to depend on cashier, manager, their moods, who knows what?? I was very surprised, though, that these sold out so quickly, although it is the holiday season and the coupons and bundle discount at Target and Best Buy made this a fairly decent buy. The salesperson at my local Target told me that they had very low stock to begin with and there was a large group who showed up early and scooped them up quickly.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Fortunately I got a set for myself at Target on Tuesday around 10:30 AM (and it was the next to the last copy there), but I was tasked to find a second set as a gift. I checked the nearby Target and Walmart on Wednesday to find both were wiped out of any Fantasia or SA BDs. I then called 2 other Targets to hear the same story.
This is the first Disney release I can remember that sold out in less than a day. I don't think they ever ran out of Beauty and the Beast or Toy Story 3 in my area (at least not that I noticed). So here are my curiosity questions which I hope someone in the know can answer:
Was the demand for both of these higher than any other Disney title in history and they just didn't anticipate it? Did stores purposefully order less copies than they should because they know about the $10 off Disney coupons and are tired of dealing with so many of them? Or did Disney provide stores with far fewer copies than their previous recent releases? In other words, whose fault is this?
I had expected they'd have loads of these because I thought they'd be popular, but I'm thinking each store had very few. And lazy Walmart employees aren't even willing to check the back stock for me. Every time I ask, they won't check the computer (usually saying there's no way they can check) and they are rarely willing to go into the backstock usually give me the same BS excuse: everything we have has been put out. That may be their intention, but I know it isn't always the case. Most employees there don't even know what they sell, so asking them for help (if you can find one) is not much better than looking on your own.
