Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Target took the coupon for the 2 disc version for me, but if the cashier looks closely at the coupon they might notice that it says "3 disc combo pack" and refuse it, but the computer will accept it.

Once again Pentagon City Best Buy proves to be one of worst retail establishments known to man. Denied my manufacturer's coupon citing a store policy not to accept printed coupons. When asked to point out the policy in writting or signage, they bumbled around for 20 minutes. To no one's surprise, they were not able to provide a written policy, but denied the coupon despite this.

Picked up...both. No problem. They only had the 2-disc of SA so they accepted that. So I was out the door for $24.XX for both.
As mentioned, cashier looked closely at the coupon and actually said "we are out of the 3-disc" and scanned the coupon. Register took no problem.
Three Disney BD for $8.00 each....very happy.

I've never had a problem printing these coupons, but now I'm having trouble. I check the status of the print job in the control panel and it says "spooling". Has anybody had that problem before?

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I wonder if Disney even knows or cares that the coupon was or was not used on a 2-disc or 3-disc version? Does Target still get the $10 from Disney for the sale? How does Disney even know the coupon was used for the product intended?

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Well, I had already bought 2 of each at Target using 4 coupons for a total of $43.66 (no tax in NH), but now I had 4 of the $3 off Disney BD Target coupons, 1 $5 off $50 Target coupon and I had gotten hold of the WM ad... and they had the 3-disc of SA in stock. So, I asked at the CS desk if I could switch out the copies of SA with the 3-disc version, PM WM and apply my Target coupons, but she was new and told me to return and rebuy. So, of course returning my original purchase yielded $83.66 back on my card and then rebuying it all with 4 more $10 off coupons cost me -
$27.99 x 2
$19.99 x 2
- $20 (promo)
- $40
- $17 (Target coupons)
= $18.01 with redcard
BUT I was already ahead $40 after they made me return my 1st purchase. So Target just paid me $21.99 for 4 Disney BDs. I'm still scratxhing my head at the way their computer system works.

Target coupons? I haven't seen anything on dvdtalk about $3 coupons. Is the only way to get them by having them luckily print out after a purchase? Also, anyone that had them print out from a purchase, what did you get?

You've got to wonder if Disney keeps track of these returns and if so how much money they lose (and if it's a big or small percentage of the total redeemed). Since the coupons print out through your DMR account, they can probably track each one back to you. Makes you wonder if it's wise to give extra ones from your account to other people because you don't know if they'll be keeping theirs. I wonder if Disney will someday get mad and do something about losing money on these, or if it's such a small amount they don't even care.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Went to Target and picked up Fox and the Hound. The clerk looked at my SA coupon and said, "we're all out of 3-disc, 2-discs and dvds..." and scanned it. It worked!
Not really, but come on! Not having the 3-disc is not really a go-ahead to buy the 2-disc with a coupon for the 3-disc. I like how people are including that part now, whether truth or a lie, in their stories to justify the misuse. They should just say, "I wanted a better deal and didn't want to pay the extra bucks for a stupid digital copy."

That's a mistake. It's a good place in general. But that Best Buy in particular isn't that good. I go to the Potomac Yards Best Buy, it's much better.

What they probably do care about is if any retailer claims reimbursement for more coupons than actual units sold (but given that many people still buy these movies without using a coupon that's probably very unlikely).

-5.00 pack disc
-2.66 RZ Cert
SA
34.99
-8.00 sale disc
-5.00 pack disc
-2.34 RZ Cert
--------------------
41.98 sub-total
+3.46 tax

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I don't think Disney has any way to determine whether a disc bought with a specific coupon was returned to the retailer or not. As far as I know Target does not scan any of the individual bar codes but only the generic one that's the same for all coupons. And even if Target did, I don't think Disney can get to that info. I'd be surprised if Disney really cared whether a coupon you print is actually used or not, and if used the rate of returns (and especially malicious use of returns) is probably low.
What they probably do care about is if any retailer claims reimbursement for more coupons than actual units sold (but given that many people still buy these movies without using a coupon that's probably very unlikely).

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
Disney could easily just put the msrp 10 bucks lower on them, but this way they know that not everyone will use them and in addition they can track how many people use their site for their internal statistics

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I guess I need to pay better attention to my next coupons. If the code they scan is indeed generic (common between all coupons for a particular movie) then there's no way they could track them to a particular person to see who did or didn't return something in spite of the fact each physical coupon has unique codes which track back to your DMR account (and I was told those numbers around the edge at the "cut here" lines have more tracking info) because each coupon is not linked to a particular transaction. It would make more sense for them to scan the unique codes rather than the generic code and then they would know. It makes me wonder why they bother to put all that tracking info on the coupon in the first place. We don't even know if the coupons get sent back to Disney or are just thrown away. Of course this is all based on which code is being scanned and if basketb is right. I have no idea which codes the scanner gun actually picks up.
Nevertheless, as long as it remains a mystery, I think I'm going to stop giving out my extra $10 off coupons to other people just to be safe. That's the reason I was curious on how this all worked.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I for one know that Disney is watching you all right now. The minute you print out and use one of their coupons, a personal tracking profile is established and they are able to monitor every purchase you make. If you think they care about coupon abuse, you are sadly mistaken...The Mouse wants you to believe that! What they are now doing is tracking your purchases from deodorant to cat food. Next time you swipe that Old Spice under your pits, a micro chip will be implanted and then you are owned. Kiss free will good-bye and enjoy they ride. So I ask...was the $10 worth it?
In all seriousness...$40 is net profit on a hot dog at Disney World. They don't give a damn what Joe Pimples is doing with his coupons...trust me. The coupons have individual numbers on them so they are not duplicated, that is all.

The simple fact is all the code does is tell the register take $10 off, if it was specific for example it should alert the clerk to notice you don't have for example the 3 -disc version of SA but the 2 disc.

Re: Fantasia $10 DMR Coupon
I got the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 and Sorcerer's Apprentice Blu-ray's for less than $20 total. I grabbed a Wal-mart ad, brought it to target, and price-matched Sorcerer's Apprentice to $20. Then I used both manufactures coupons and got the Target "Buy Both, Save $10" promotion and it was $18+tax out the door.

My local target was out of SA, so I just bought two Fantasia's. As a previous poster said, the promo $10 off DOES work on that alone! No more wasting time buying SA!
