LOL must be a glitch.

A poster on SD.net said that as long as he didn't put video games in his cart he got free shipping and 40% off.

When I placed an order around 11 AM, I didn't get free shipping.

I used this at 9 am CST this morning and was charged their normal shipping fee. The way stuff flies out of stock there I can't afford to risk waiting for no glitch!

Didn't get free shipping, though that would have been awesome.

Ended up picked up a bunch of DVDs as I usually do when GoHastings has sales like this.

Got in on the 40% off and free shipping yesterday, somewhat by accident. Ordered 4 CDs for a grand total of $3.65 shipped. Should've ordered more!

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I ordered a new ps3 game. They sent it with a note saying that they put the game on their display shelf and remove all the contents but everything has been packaged into the case and the item is still new. Shrinkwrap has already been removed etc. Wasn't too happy about this. It's a gift for my 7 year old and he isn't going to care, but this is definitely not "new" to me

I am actually down to only a handful of items on my wish list and none were in stock. I starting poking around stuff I don't even really want that badly because the deal is so tempting, but I was ultimately able to contain myself...for a change.

re: Hastings / gohastings.com discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Ordered:

-Dexter: The Complete Fourth Season (BD)
-Dexter: The Complete Fifth Season (BD)

$26.XX (shipped) which I think is a great deal, as I've been waiting for bargains on all the seasons on Blu-Ray. Too bad Season 6 is OOS right now.

45% is too high a discount to NOT find anything you need :-)...I got a whole bunch of BF $3.99 BD's for even lesser here including shipping....so back go those Best Buy $3.99 + tax BD's

As this was the biggest discount I can ever remember at Hastings and as 99.9% of my Wishlist was OOS, I actually devoted three (non-consecutive) hours diving the depths of their Stone Age search system. I went through 30 VIEW ALL Blu pages and 65 VIEW ALL standard DVD pages. End result? I found four things I wanted and even that was pressing it. The moral of the story? Keep a lengthy, comprehensive Wishlist and let that be your guide. Searching Hastings without one, therein madness lies.

Hear you, brother...have implemented your idea and now my wish list is as exhaustive as their product listing...except I know what's REALLY in stock...which is NOT 99% of it.

Having said that, I went through the same way you did for this sale - 45% is an excellent discount and got myself the following:
Sherlock Holmes (KINO) with John Barrymore - $9
Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff - $7
a whole buncha Bourne at $1.98 each
Casino Royale (2 disc CE) - $5.xx
Quantum of Solace soundtrack CD - $1.50
Dracula Legacy Collection - $11 (like a fool, I sold my legacy collection DVD for the BD set only to realize not all movies were included in the blu set)

Well said. Scanning my wish list is easy.

The nice thing about this unusual coupon is that it allows one to tick just one in-stock item off the list, as opposed to the usual three to four items for the best discount.

Well I'd feel guilty if I didn't get a few titles with this code. Got a few things I've wanted but never really pushed myself to pay for new. Thanks!

wow! I have been EXTREMELY Please with gohastings! they are now my #1 source of blu-rays. I have gotten everything I asked, and they are in mint condition. Couldn't be happier.

It is sad that their quality control is obviously not consistent as others have had very different experiences.

I've had a couple of damaged discs but gohastings.com promptly refunded my money. I had one PV when I ordered used but the disc was fine and I was ordering it for my local library, where it makes no difference anyway. But most of my used purchases have been fine and a couple have been brand new.

If one can find items in stock, this store is often a pretty good way to get inexpensive BDs and DVDs. And that recent 45% off coupon with no minimum order was one of the best yet.

Completely agree. I have built an enormous collection on a dime, thanks to goHastings. There are the occasional glitches but they really need to get their inventory management right. While the customer service of promptly refunding an order gone wrong is much appreciated, your confidence as a customer in getting the title you order, is eroded due to this mismanagement. Like I posted above, I ordered a used copy of 'Sherlock Holmes - (1922) with John Barrymore (KINO). But what I received was the one with Robert Downey Jr. The packing slip inside shows the correct UPC of the one I ordered which means some one was slacking off when performing inventory. Similarly, I was told that a previewed copy would never contain additional discs or DC's but a used copy would. When I called them this morning, they said they couldn't guarantee that on Used either. Finally, in lieu of the wrong version of Casino Royale they sent me, they issued a one time coupon code for 40% off to my account. And when I tried using it, it came up invalid. So in summary, it speaks of a company that's ill equipped to handle large volume. The wait time on the call was about 20 mins and the lady that answered it was clearly overwhelmed and sounded very tired - felt very sorry for her.

Props to you on the library deal

Since we have been using our library a lot more since having children, I've donated a lot of our DVD's that come with the combo packs to our local library. They greatly appreciate it and I feel good knowing they get a lot more use then sitting in our DVD binder.

Agree with all of this, right down to the SHERLOCK HOLMES mistake, which also happened to me. You have to have a sense of perspective and humor in dealing with Hastings. It can be so frustrating when they botch the order and in so doing forever take away that specific deal you got, but it's happened to me so often that now I just roll my eyes and move on.
