Awww, you don't like something I said. Here's an idea, how about you build a bridge and get over it.
Sorry mods, I will leave it at that since I actually let it go days ago.

I envy the people who are able to get overrides. I made my second visit today.
Both times I was stuck with the same clerk who does not seem able to handle the simplest transactions. The first time I was stuck for 10 minutes as he fumbled with the register, unable to understand that 3 movies @ $5 apiece should be $15, not $30. I had to correct his math several times because he could not seem to handle simple addition in his head. He ended up checking out each Blu-Ray separately.
Today, I had the bad luck to be in his line again to redeem 3 more Upgrade and Save coupons. I had Twister, Cape Fear, and Louie Season 1. I was able to get Twister and Cape Fear (which he had to run through separately because he could not figure out how to process two discounts in the same transaction), but the system would not allow the $5 discount for Louie S1.
Instead of overriding the system manually, he called over the manager to ask her what to do. She said that because Louie is a series, not a movie, the $5 discount did not apply. I was polite, accepted her verdict, and got Clash of the Titans (the new one) instead.
I just wish that this sale wasn't such a hassle each time. I'm going to try the Pentagon City store and see if the process goes any better there.

What is it about this thread that turns everything into a pissing match? Really, it's been that way everytime BB runs these trade/save deals...why?

Just some people here feel very strongly about misrepresentation to get an item for cheaper when it clearly is of an unethical nature thus causing the store to lose money (nicest way I could put it) and feel that if you are going to do something like that, you probably shouldn't go straight to a forum and brag about it. We would just rather not hear about stuff like that. Nor is this forum really here to discuss things of said unethical nature that may or may not be borderline illegal.

Don't think this has been posted:
Harry Potter 1-5 --- 9.99 (4.99 after coupon)
Half-blood Prince and (I think) Deathly Hallows Part 1 are 14.99 (9.99 after coupon), but not sure about DH1
Still looking for Van Helsing.

Hmmm, don't know how, but I ended up with Real Steel 3-disc edition for $12.99 + tax using $5 Real Steel coupon and $5 upgrade coupon.

I may try to get a few movies before the 28th, but seriously, I'm really not up to going over there. Maybe if something stands out, but I just bought a few things on Amazon, and I have to say, it's convenient having it be on my doorstep when I get home from work. I might try to get Inglourious Basterds, though.

Lol you're telling people to get over it when in fact you've had more to say about this topic then anyone else.

Damn this sale! Made my 4th trip to the store yesterday, and they were extremely well stocked (Hadley, MA). Picked up:
Apollo 13 4.99 (couldn't be bothered with the $3 coupon, seemed like a hassle, and I didn't know if they had any)
Raging Bull 4.99
Fast & Furious 4.99
American Beauty 4.99
Paranormal Activity 3 17.99
I have gotten rid of all kinds of garbage, and gotten 18 blu-rays in the process. And there's still stuff that I would buy.
Have only seen one other person doing the trade-in at the store.
The coupon that was on my copy expired 3/31/11.

That is weird.
I wasn't even looking at the coupon on the box. The cashier told me I should pick up Dances with Wolves as I would get it for $3 (I had 2 trade-in coupons with me)...so I went back to the Blu-ray section and picked it up. If she didn't mention it, I would have never have known or bought it.

Re: Best Buy Upgrade & Save, Jan 8 - Jan 28, 2012
I have dozens of DVDs I'd like to trade in, but my problem is finding anything I want to upgrade to. Due to my cheapness and low price point, pretty much anything over $7.99 after coupon is out of the question. So that leaves a bunch of titles that I either already have or don't think are worth even the $5 to upgrade my DVD to BD. The titles I didn't know about I read some reviews and wasn't interested.
I traded in 2 movies a couple weeks ago, kept watching this thread for something I really wanted to show up, and with the deadline looming gave up and got Insomnia and Nightmare on Elm Street 2 & 3 so as not to let the coupons expire. I wanted Road to Perdition or Cloverfield for $4.99 but they weren't at any stores in my area. I say I gave up because I had recently bought Insomnia BD for $6.99 from Fry's and decided to return that so I could get Insomnia from BB and have something to use my $5 coupon on. I want all the Nightmare on Elm Streets on BD (as I only own the first one and Freddy vs. Jason on DVD) and had hoped to get an entire box set, but it was either NoES 2 & 3 or let the $5 coupon expire. I hope in future upgrade & save deals that I'll be able to find more than 2 titles each time.

Why do people assume the 9.75 titles were lowered just so they wouldn't be a part of this sale? If they were going to go to the trouble of lowering titles so they wouldn't be part of the sale, wouldn't they have lowered more, or even raised them to 14.99? I mean, is BB really more worried about selling 4.99 copies of Stripes then, say, American Beauty?

Has anyone been able to get the latest Terminator in Terminator case? The store I went had 2 copies and no regular copies but wouldn't change the price even though the sales tag was in front of it. Out of 3 stores only 1 had these special edition versions. I didn't fight it since I was happy to finally find 10 Things I Hate About You w/slip.

Finally took part in this sale, had no problems at the BB in midtown NYC. Went to the CSR desk and the guy said it would be easier if I grabbed the BRs I wanted first. Couple minutes later I went back and he scanned the BRs, checked my 5 discs quickly, and rang it all up. Didn't bother with coupons, it was adjusted automatically. I asked him what the goal of this sale was and he said he had no idea, they're just throwing everything out but if an employee tries to take any they'll be fired.
