Good day with coupons but bad day with gift cards at my local BN. Was able to use four 30% coupons and a $5/$50 coupon on four Criterions. Had to use my Mastercard for total payment but did get an extra 5% rebate for the purchase. Came out to $11.34 each before tax and rebate.

The four Criterions were just a little over $50 after coupons and member discount before applying the $5 coupon. Four $19.99 titles work out almost perfect to get to the $50 threshold. I was lucky to get a cashier that allowed it today because sometimes they say no to the extra coupon.

My store can't preorder in Zatoichi, supposedly cuz the vendor is being picky about it. So I'm going to have to call to hold it for me. Seems like there is another customer who will also do this too. So I'm calling them immediately when they open up for them to hold it for me.

Tried to buy House at my local B&N today and they refused me as far as the 30% MC coupon went. They said that the Criterion sale was exempt from any other coupons or discounts.

B&N won't ship me Frances Ha, even though it's been listed for ages as being ready to ship in 24 hours. Their estimated date is 11/12. Everything else is on its way. No idea what's going on there. They did the same thing with Babette's Feast last time, which I wound up cancelling from the site and ordered instead in-store. I wonder if I'll have to do the same here...

Ok, so I have been busy at work this sale (ie: lazy about the sale), so apologies, but are there any active coupons for non-members that would work either online or in-store?

Basically, I'm looking to pick up the Rossellini-Begman box set and a couple one-off titles here and there (need to rein in my habit spending). I'm hoping there is something that would work for the box set...either way, paying 50% Off sans additional discounts will do the trick for the limited "must-haves" I want this time around, but figure it'd be worth it to ask (and then get yelled at for not reading through the entire thread).

There are no coupons that work online at bn.com on criterions. The next set of coupons should be active on Thursday. We're unsure what % off they might be, but there is hope for a 40% coupon, maybe only for members though.

BN.com does not show a link for "Pickup In-Store". (It however has a line saying "Note: This item does not qualify for coupons or promotional discounts unless expressly stated").

I didn't see it in the store I visited this morning and didn't really expect to. There was a post earlier that said it's likely to be a special order only item and stores aren't going to have it in stock. And, as you noted, B&N doesn't permit coupon use with the Criterion sale online. If you go to a store and special order it for pickup or delivery, though, you may be able to use a coupon if you have a friendly clerk. YMMV.

Here's the in-store search for Zatoichi. Just change your zip in the URL. It showed in stock at two of my nearby stores, and OOS at another. Mine should be in the mail tomorrow. Ended up paying $86 for it after tax.

I'm happy to be wrong about Zatoichi. I didn't see it at the store near my office (Gaithersburg, MD) this morning but apparently it was behind the counter. Checked online stock - thanks for the link! - and it said they had it. I just went over there and got it, $85 and change out the door with member discount and 20% coupon. The guy who rang it up told me I got the last one, he had five this morning. I thought about waiting for the rumored 40% off coupon Thursday, but I have no desire to get near a store this weekend and I'm very happy with the price I paid.
