You could possibly use the coupon to pre-order it at a store. If your local B&N is generally coupon friendly try doing a ship to home order. I have not done one in a few years but the stores in my area always let me use store coupons when doing ship to home orders on stuff not at the store and pre-orders from the web site. It's definitely a huge ymmv since it goes against the coupon restrictions but might be worth a shot for the extra savings.

^ Probably our best bet, LASER. Although we wont be able to stack with membership discount, and extra 20% off will still be pretty sweet.

I signed up for a free membership today. So, to be clear, all discounts are YMMV but if they do accept coupons is it typically:
Sale Price - 10% Member Discount - Coupon
Is that right? So I could potentially get the member discount and a 20% off discount with a coupon? I'm stopping by after work. None of the titles I'm interested in are over $19.99 after discount so the most beneficial coupons are the 15% or 20% in seperate transactionS.
I've never taken part in this sale but want to maximize my potential.

^ In theory, yes.
How do you have % off coupons on your first day of membership? $8 off $40 and $5 off $50 you can get right away, but the % coupons take time. I still haven't received mine and I signed up three days ago.

I don't know, but I signed up around 1:30pm PST and by 2:30pm PST I received a 15% off coupon in my inbox.
I'm also going to attempt to utilize the 20% off "code" that the cashier has to manually type in. Someone has had success with it.

I was, however, able to use the 20% coupon for John Cassevettes: Five Films and was able to get it for $48 in store.

Only picked up: Seconds
My love for Blu-ray/movie collecting is a bit on the declining side. (if anyone cares).

Just checked my 20% off cpn and it expires 11/30. The Zatoichi set comes out 11/26 - hoping to make the most of the member discount and this coupon on it. But what is with this new craze of Bluray + DVD combo on Criterion sets ? Why do I need to get both when I only need 1 ? Hopefully pricing is not based on that

They had to manually adjust the B&N Membership discount because I wasn't in their system yet. They then applied the 20% off & 15% off codes and the 15% off coupon I had gotten in my e-mail earlier.
The Gold Rush
$19.99 - 10% Member Discount = $17.99 - 15% code = $15.29
Modern Times
$19.99 - 10% Member Discount = $17.99 - 20% code = $14.39
The Great Dictator
$19.99 - 10% Member Discount = $17.99 - 15% coupon = $15.29
She rang it all up in one transaction, so all three for $48.57 with tax. After paying these prices I can't justify ever buying another Criterion unless it's part of this sale.
There are still a few more titles I want so I hope I get the same girl to help me when I go back.

Hi guys,
For the Zatoichi fans. Got a 20% off coupon in my email and successfully used it to pre-order for store pickup for the sale price which was $112.49 minus 20% $22.50 so came down to $89.99 plus tax. I recommend purchasing the $75 GC + free$10 first and apply it to the set.
Best of luck...

Everything went swimmingly tonight. Thanks to the generosity of Laser & sleepyhead, I was able to use the $8 off of $40 on Heaven's Gate and three 15% off coupons on Seconds, Eyes Without a Face and The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. I then slapped down the $5 off of $50 coupon and got all four movies for $58 and change out the door.![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I also got the Casablanca 70th swag box for $20 at Costco this afternoon. One of my better hauls in one day.

Very nice. I will have to try that 20% code tomorrow.

Does anyone know when the 50% off Art House sale ends? I would like to pick up Nosferatu while I'm there getting Tokyo Story.

I got shot down trying to utilize two 15% off coupons Laser Movies was kind enough to give me.
The guy I got this time was kind of a dick. When I asked why he wouldn't accept them, I made the mistake of saying the girl who helped me yesterday did. He then kept pushing me to tell him who helped me, and when I explained a manager was the one who gave me the discounts, he wanted me to describe them!![LOL](/images/smilies/lol.gif)
Needless to say, I paid $17.99 a piece for Repo Man and Monsieur Verdoux, which is of course a great deal. But, after yesterday, I feel let down. I know it's YMMV but man getting that deal spoiled me.
I'm debating trying another store tomorrow since there's more titles I want. But I don't know if I can justify the drive. Oh well.

Are they now the coupon Nazis? It is one thing to deny you but a completely different thing to try to squeeze information out of you about the other cashier.

I picked up Rushmore and another BD and used the 15% non-member coupon. Good deal. Thanks for the heads up.

Honestly, I hate that everything is YMMV. They need a corporate policy across the board in regards to the coupons. Have big signs up then saying "Not Accepted", because I don't know whose word to take.
I called their customer service number yesterday, and when I described the situation to the girl on the phone she didn't really know how to respond. She thought the whole thing was strange. When I asked her if he should've accepted the coupons (she pulled up my transactions with my membership), she said yes without hesitation. She also said if the store accepted them the day before, then they should have accepted them again the following day.
So one manager said sure, took them, and corporate customer service agrees. Then, one rogue guy (who I'm guessing was the supervisor) completely denies them and wants a police sketch artist description of who took them to begin with.
![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
I'm going to return the titles I bought last night at a different location because I really can't justify that. I'll make one final try to purchase some titles with coupons again at that store and if they don't accept them I'll just be content with the three I already have.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2
I’ve gotten pretty used to my local store not accepting the coupons. There’s not another B&N close enough to me to justify the travel and hassle of going to another one. I did use the gift card deal, but I doubt the $10 card will make it to the next sale. My kids still like to go to “the book store” now and then and pick out a new read. I’m not sure if they believe me when I tell them how common B&M book stores used to be. I hope the sale gets extended though or we get an Amazon Criterion sale so I can pick up Nashville. I also have a GC coming to me from my CC company from bonus points or whatever. That’ll help sweeten the deals for me this time around. Best of luck to everyone else.

It's not like getting a Criterion Blu Ray for under $20 is a bad deal. Yeah, it's awesome to have coupons, but after tax, these end up under $20.
