I don't know how he was able to use it yet, but it's posted in the B&N coupon thread (last one on the bottom).

Anyone else get it to work? I just get "The coupon code you entered is invalid. Please check the code on your coupon and re-enter it".

Ha! I didn't even realize it wasn't valid until 11/21. Just learned of its existence today, ran to my nearest B&N and, well, apparently it worked.

It looks like it's been taken down. Do you happen to have the link in your browser history?

Sorry, no. I printed it directly from Laser's thread.

There are some things I like to say but they may get me banned. I would hope people don't go abusing the 30% coupon before it's even officially released. I removed the coupon from the coupon thread. I would have never posted it if I realized it was already working. In fact I had it in an area labeled future coupons that are not active. If the coupon starts getting used weeks in advance I would expect B&N may remove it and clamp down hard on coupon usage for the remainder of the sale. I would appreciate if everyone would not use the coupon until it's officially valid on November 21. There is plenty of time to use the coupon legitimately before the end of the Criterion sale. If you can't respect my request then I will no longer maintain the coupon thread on this forum in the future.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Made out like a bandit at a B&M today - first got the $75 GC with bonus $10 GC and then the below paid for with the $75 GC:

1. Heaven's Gate: $14.49 with Member discount and $8 off cpn
2. Fanny and Alexander: $18.99 with Member discount and $8 off cpn (asked if I could use the same again and cashier said ok)
3. Children of Paradise: $14.39 with Member discount and 20% off snail mail cpn

Great sale for me already and think that's enough unless the 30% off is compelling - looking fwd to getting all of the Chaplin stuff but perhaps it can wait until the next sale

Thanks Laser for the coupons

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Bought the Bergman/Rosselini set for $38 after membership discount and 20% off.

Then bought Eyes without a face, la notte, and autumn sonata for $49 total after using a 15% off coupon then a $5 off $50 coupon.

New cashier and it went very smooth. Hopefully I can have the same success come Tuesday for Frances Ha and City Lights.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Used the 20% off (generic code one) several times this weekend and bought Eyes Without a Face, Naked Kiss, Seconds. Used a 15% on 3 Women.

I found out that one of my old high school classmates is working the register at one BN that I frequent. I'm going to try to see if I can get the $8 off coupon to work on Fanny and Alexander this week.

I tried the 20% off alpha-numerical and a 15% code of the same type and they were both rejected by the register. Oh well, no big loss as I had success with the generic codes.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

a word of caution if anyone purchased 'Children of Paradise' and have not yet opened the package - return it asap. the PQ on it is an insult - how Criterion managed to release this with this abysmal PQ is beyond me. I researched this and found that Bluray.com has already reported this shitty PQ and scored the title very low on this factor

Thanks for that - I was wondering if it would be in ON the 26th or AFTER... looks like after. Good to know.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

My 20% coupon could not be entered in the system tonight. This was the first time a coupon has been rejected and the cashier was surprised too. Cashier called the manager who said coupon cannot be used with sale and highlighted the fine print on the coupon about excluding sales and promotions. So if the system won't take the coupon, should I try another store? And I assume the 20% coupon can only be used once, so if I return and rebuy at another store, will the coupon code reset and work again or will it still be considered used already? My coupon exp date is Nov. 11.

it will not work with a scan. ask them to follow instructions on the coupon to press a F key on their register to enter a percentage and then enter 20% off. it will work. used it yesterday

Make sure you are using the generic 20 percent coupon in the OP. The one time use coupons aren't working at many stores.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

Thanks. Yes I forgot, the coupon was not used so I could still use it. Cashier did not scan it but entered code from my coupon from my phone screen. It would not take it and triggered the call to the manager. And I think I recall that manager being helpful in the past with trying to get the most discounts possible so it seems the company may have communicated stricter guidelines recently. I will look for the generic coupon in the OP. This all was so much easier at the last sale. Thanks again.
EDIT: the coupon expired last night so I'll try this next time.

It expired last night AS I was checking out. I was trying to squeeze in a last minute order. SOOOO close. At least it said "coupon is expired" instead of processing the order with no coupon. That would have sucked...

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

New user here.

So I bought the 75 GC on the site and signed up for the free 2 month membership.

I was wondering is the 10% off for being a member only work in store on the criterion sale?

Do i just tell them my member number or do i have to print something?

I looked at the B@N coupon thread. I can see another 20% coupon code becomes active on the 14th. That I assume has to attempted in store?

I am interested in buying the zatoichi collection as well as Seven Samurai and maybe a few other kirosawa criterions.

Thanks for your input in advance.

How would you go about getting the most off...

The 10% off applies on all purchases for members both online and in-store. Just present to them your membership card, or if you don't have it, they can pull it up by your phone number.

No it doesn't. B&N ended the 10% discount for online purchases a long time ago. The 10% discount is in-store only.

Re: B&N 50% Criterion blu-ray sale November 5 through December 2

can anyone confirm using the 10% member discount for Zatoichi pre order in store?

what are your thoughts on the Barnes membership. Do you think its worth paying 25 a year after the trial period is over.

Perhaps you used a 10% off coupon? There is definitely no membership discount online. Hasn't been for a few years now...
