Got my reply from DDD about Stop Making Sense. Apparently, it's been discontinued. I guess I'll pick it up on Overstock or eBay.

DDD hiked an awful lot of their prices in advance of this 20% off sale. Some by almost 100%! I had planned to get Millennium Season 3 (among several other titles). Just before the sale, the price bumped up to $41.85.

$41.85 x .8 = $33.48

Not bad for the set compared to Best Buy, etc., but I held off, in order to check eBay prices. I finally ordered last night at 7pm. The price had fallen:

$37.20 x .8 = $29.76

"Too bad for the poor chumps who ordered this set when the sale started," I thought.

Two *hours* later, I was looking for something else at DDD when I scanned back across the MS3 listing. New price:

$23.56 x .8 = $18.84

Argh. I am the chump.

I called DDD customer service [800-264-5076] and endured their nigh-interminable hold. Eventually, after putting me back on hold three times, they refunded the difference in the sale prices ($10.92), which was cool of them. They didn't refund the difference in tax ($0.74). That was mildly annoying, but definitely not enough to wait another 45 minutes to fix.

I did this, too, but I had ordered at the $33.48 price. They adjusted me $9.92 down to $23.56, but did NOT give me the additional 20% off. By the time I realized this and called them back, the price had jumped up. It went down again last night, but now they raised it again--to an entirely NEW price of $35.13 ($28.10 after 20% off). It still shows $23.56 when you search, but if you add it to your cart or click the product link, it jumps up. AARRGGHH!! Hopefully it will drop again, so I can call them while the price is low and prove I deserve the adjustment (since it would be so easy for me to buy it again and return the original one)...

You must've never dealt with Dell. I was on hold with them for over 2 hours trying to return something. (Not tech support).

DDD's customer service was friendly, American, and took care of me in under 5 minutes. If only every online retailer was this easy to get a hold of.

My main gripe with DDD is that I simply cannot browse their site or see what I want. Otherwise, I'd buy stuff a lot more often.

I think their prices are like the stock market. Firefly and Millennium S3 both have jumped up as well (Millennium keeps going up and down, up and down)

My third order:

STANDING IN THE SHADOWS OF MOTOWN $ 4.79 1 $ 4.79
BEN HUR (4D/COLLECTOR'S ED WITH BOOK) $ 20.91 1 $ 20.91
ISLAND AT WAR $ 31.20 1 $ 31.20

Total: $56.90

I'm pretty psyched about Island at War as it receives rave reviews. It's a miniseries about the German occupation of the British Channel Islands during WWII. I think it's similar to the Enemy at the Door miniseries (which I have on order from Amazon).

Those of you who dig Stop Making Sense might enjoy the concert film Jonathan Demme did of a performance by Robyn Hitchcock. DDD has "Storefront Hitchcock" for less than five bucks with the discount. The film is a perfect introduction to a fascinating songwriter and musician, and even if you don't love it, hey, five bucks.

if you can find a scan at an early peek of black Friday circulars, I think Best Buy has both seasons for 14.99. Just decided to pick them up here since I dont want my arm broken that day.

Yep. They did. If I didn't own Season 1, I would be all over the Amazon deal.

But if you are getting both seasons of AD, then Amazon is the best place at the moment since they take $10 off if you get S1 and 2 (also no sales tax or shipping and 1.57% A9 discount) for a total of $15.72 each, Even at $14.99 each, they would end up being $16.09 on BF at BB if you could find any, although if you want to increase your reward zone points, that's a different consideration. (As is the consideration of the 3 reward points per dollar that Amazon VISA card users would figure into their purchase equation.)

I dont see the sense of buying all of this stuff especially with Black Friday coming. I went to Black Friday last year at around 8 am, no lines, got everything on my list. These DDD sales dont really save you much and people are thanking them like DDD is giving away them for free. LOL. I almost pulled the trigger on the AD season sets and then I saw that they will be 14.99.

Mine was just delivered & it is sweet! I also ordered it right after midnight, but I went for the 2-day $6.95 option. With a big order (over $350) & nice savings, I'd much rather pay a little more to get it early. I've received everything now (2 orders, over $850), thanks again DDD!

I was going to place a second order, but I am not sure now. I might try to cancel the first one and put everything on the second one (I was waiting for some releases on Tuesday).
If it's anything like mine... they won't send it (apparantly). I'm going to phone them and ask soon.

If you are looking to purchase recent, mainstream releases, that may be true. But if you are looking to purchase titles from Synapse, Blue Underground, Mondo Macabro, Criterion, or any other company that offers great discs outside of the mainstream, this sale is probably as cheap as a factory-sealed disc gets on those titles.

LOL I'd like to live near those stores. Black Friday is hell and last year's debacle has made me not want to be anywhere near a store on that day, so I'll be working.

Best Buy is going to have the Werner Herzog collection for $33.59 on Black Friday? Dang, I should have waited!

Honestly, I'd rather eat a bullet than go shopping on Black Friday... And I've seen the ads for this year, there's NOTHING on sale that I - personally - could give two shits about. I only ordered a few items from DDD this time around and for what I buy there's no way that I could find those titles as cheap locally. I'd be hard pressed to even find those discs in stock at a local retailer.

My first order arrived on Tuesday morning, placed on day one of the sale.
