I was going to ask for a pricematch as well but when I clicked on their lowest price guarantee banner and read their pricematch policy details, I saw the following statement and assumed I'd have no luck:

DeepDiscountDVD.com will not apply a price match and a DeepDiscountDVD.com coupon on the same order.

Happened to me. The CC company caught it after someone in russia bagan to use it.

Of course this could be one of those plots to discredit DDD. Seems to be a lot of new members complaining these days.
I agree. There have been a rash of new members grinding the axe against DDD. They aren't perfect and I am not saying this sale is the best price on anything, but they must be doing something right when what I purchased is a drop in the proverbial bucket and I spent over $200.

Did you buy anything else that day? I find it would be a lot easier for say, a waiter to steal your card number than an internet hacker. I would say that unless many others come foreward saying their cards have been comprimised, there was another problem. Make sure your facts are straight before throwing around such harmful accusations.

You will get the pricematch, just not both the pricematch and the coupon. But they did seem a little bit confused on whether I would want the pricematch over the more expensive coupon price.

I've placed 4 orders during the sale, and all have shipped. They usually sit in "IN PROCESS" status for 2-3 days from time of order though. For example, orders I placed on Saturday shipped Tuesday night.

My first order arrived yesterday, one item backordered shipped today but no word on my second order in which all items are still "In Process".

Thanks DDD! Items in hand 5 days after ordering is a record!

2nd order, total about $220 this sale, below my $300-550 average on these sales. But like others, I have a huge backlog of movies already, BF has some better deals coming up than this sale, and Im carrying balances on my credit cards at this point.
I Used the dvdtalk code this time, used dd11 mistakenly on the larger first order. I added more stuff to my wishlist with this sale than I removed. Wishlist is around $2k total now.

Well, the way that's worded, it really sucks. They've just added that part, as I emailed them about a price match 2 weeks ago and their reply included a copy of their price matching policy that definitely does not contain that clause. From the way the new bit is worded, it sounds as though if you want them to price match on a specific item, you have to take the coupon away from the rest of the items in your order, which 9 times out of 10 wouldn't be worth it.

I still haven't heard back from them regarding my email about Amazon having lower prices on Arrested Development. It wouldn't bother me so much if Amazon's sale undercut DDD's and they wouldn't match it, but DDD's sale prices are actually slightly higher than Amazon's regular prices, not even taking into account the $10 Amazon is offering on the sets. In the future, it looks like the smart thing to do will be order niche items through DDD's sale and check to see if Amazon or other e-tailers are undercutting their prices on mainstream items.

For my current order, I'm just going to assume I won't get a price match and eat the $13 difference. But I will be re-emailing all my friends I'd told about the sale to warn them that they should definitely do price checks before ordering from DDD's sale. I can't be too pissed at DDD for doing what they need to in order to remain profitable, but I'm disappointed that they're no longer consistently the best deal around.

DDD was never consistently the best deal around. They have usually been the best deal around, and still are. But no retailer is ever going to consistently offer the lowest prices. As you say, you have to do your homework to find the best deals. That's why we have forums like this, to let people know where to find them.

Agreed. I see the people happily paying prices for discs that I think are too much. While on the other hand there are some extreme deals to be had here. I think the more expensive an item gets the better a deal DD has. I don't really concern myself with it though. If you are happy with the price you are paying for something then that is all that matters. It takes all kinds.

As far as your Arrested Development ordeal, buy it from Amazon and return the DDD ones or place a new pricematched order at DDD for them and return the coupon ordered ones back to them.

Price drop gotcha

DDD hiked an awful lot of their prices in advance of this 20% off sale. Some by almost 100%! I had planned to get Millennium Season 3 (among several other titles). Just before the sale, the price bumped up to $41.85.

$41.85 x .8 = $33.48

Not bad for the set compared to Best Buy, etc., but I held off, in order to check eBay prices. I finally ordered last night at 7pm. The price had fallen:

$37.20 x .8 = $29.76

"Too bad for the poor chumps who ordered this set when the sale started," I thought.

Two *hours* later, I was looking for something else at DDD when I scanned back across the MS3 listing. New price:

$23.56 x .8 = $18.84

Argh. I am the chump.

I called DDD customer service [800-264-5076] and endured their nigh-interminable hold. Eventually, after putting me back on hold three times, they refunded the difference in the sale prices ($10.92), which was cool of them. They didn't refund the difference in tax ($0.74). That was mildly annoying, but definitely not enough to wait another 45 minutes to fix.

My bad on the wording, I meant to say that their 20%-off sale has been consistently the best deal available (other than things like misprices or deals on used dvds). I know their regular prices are frequently matched or undercut, especially in the first week of new releases. This is just the first time I've seen a lot of their sale prices get undercut.

DDD changes prices all the time on their site. The changes are just more visible during the sale, when everyone's tracking everything so closely. The price hikes and drops on the Millennium Season 3 set, along with many others, have been well-documented in this thread and the earlier DDD sale threads. You just have to keep up with the changes, and move when you think the time is right. It ain't always easy to get the best possible deal.
