So what are they going to do with any unsold stuff? Will anything be 90% or more off on the last day?

I bet all cds go to 70% off Wednesday and dvds to 60% atleast..Report in
Also everything will be sold by the end to resellers who will buy everything left per arrangement. I expect there will be crazy deals though on last day of Sale similiar to Wherehouse each store being different in what they offer.
I have bought a lot of .50-$2.99 cds lately and a few $17.99-19.99 rap dvds for $2 each.

by any chance, do you remember if they had a sign saying when they would close?

I did not see any signs with a closing date. My guess is that they will remain open until a day or two before Christmas. Since they are so close to at least two major malls they may be expecting some additional last minute Christmas shoppers.

Do all stores have the "warehouse specials" (currently 3 for $3) CD sections?

You know, I've found some good discs in the $2 clearance bins - Danzig, Samhain, Tweaker, Thursday, Shadow's Fall, Treepeople... 'kinda obscure but def. worth the $2

With Suncoast and Kemp Mill prices got down to 90% on the day of close with special incentives for bulk purchases. It was my understanding that only after that final discount were the leftovers shipped to a place like Big Lots...

Dallas Tower is 70% off CDs, 60% DVD, 80% singles, 70% vinyl, and all rap $1 with select rock/pop titles at $1 too. Both CDs and DVDs are starting to dwindle down noticeably. I didn't see any Criterions - just a week ago there were several. The store closes in 8 days.

Pasadena, CA store is:

70% off CDs
CD singles are $ .50
60% off DVDs

Sign says Last 8 Days

They still have a decent selection of CDs including soundtracks. DVDs are slim pickings.

Went for (probably) my last time today. As other have said, CD's are now at 70%, DVD's at 60%, Singles at 80%.

The DVDs are far the most part crap, did not spend a lot of time there. Spent a solid 2 hours going bin by bin looking for CDs to buy. Ended up with 33 of them for a grand total of around $150. Most of the big names are gone, but if you are into indie like I am there is still a lot of solid titles to me had, especially ones that came out this year. If it hits 80% by this weekend (doubtful if they keep the once per week price drop), I might go again. The sign now says 9 days left.

What were some of the indie albums you picked up? I may hit the one up here again if you've got some good suggestions.

The Greenwich Village NYC location has basically the same increased discounts that other locations are reporting, except they then take another 10% off for DVDs. ($14.98 @ 60% off = $5.99 less another 10%, for example.)

If the discount hits 90% (especially if there's an extra incentive for bulk purchases) it might be worth buying a bunch of under $14.95 DVD's just for the cases. Those 2-Disc white Amarays, for instance, are hard to come by.

Went to Atlanta Tower last night, there was a sign said "last 7 days".

CD 70% off
DVD 60% off, most well-know titles are all gone (no criterion.) it is interesting to see there are still many Star Wars and Napoleon Dynamite Tin Box left.
also some CD are $1.

There have never been any Tower Records stores in OKC, but I got an email today from Tower.com saying "The Stores Have Closed their doors, but we're still open 24/7". So I think it's definitely all over this week.

Many posters people have reported seeing a lot of the Napleon Dynamite dvd tins. Has anyone seen the Captain and Tenille dvd sets? At the store I went to on Tuesday, they had about a dozen Captain and Tenille dvd boxed sets at 50% off MSRP $50.00 = $25. Still a bit too high for me for this show. Is it just my store or has anyone else seen a lot of these? I'd be tempted to buy it if the store goes to 70% off --that is, if its still there.
