did you happen to notice if the watt store had lowered their prices on hd-dvd/BR yet? sunrise had 60% off but almost nothing left, downtown had them for $10 but i bought 1 of almost everything and watt still wanted $17 to 20 for theirs

Sorry, didn't check, because everything looked like it had the exact pricing as the weekend, so I didn't stay.

Reubs82: Definitely worth going to. Don't go expecting any big name artists, but there was still a *lot* of CD's left. I'm going to go back sometime between the 20th-22nd, and hopefully stuff will be 90%+ off, so I'll pick up a ton of blind buys then if anything is left. To tell you just how good of a selection it was, my father picked up an Elvis Presley CD (Believe the back said it was his third album) later that night. That was the exception though, almost all other big names are gone.

I went to the Paramus store on Friday. DVDs are 50% off and CDs are 60%. It is very picked over at this point. I had my eye on a few music DVDs about two weeks ago but I was waiting for them to hit at least 60% off. When I went Friday they were all gone. I dont think I will be going back anymore.

Hi guys, I was at the Watt ave Tower in Sacramento yesterday, monday and they are still only 50% off and the selection is not very good anymore. They are down to about 1/3 of what they had last week, and the stuff that they did have I am not very interested in, so I guess I do not have to worry about checking in with them anytime soon.

Still felt I needed to say good-bye, even though I haven't shopped there much in over a decade.

Even with 50% a lot of merchandise, the pricing is just barely competitive with the best of on-line sources.

Store Closing Update

Okay, I got the scoop from one of the employees last night. She said that all the stores - every single one left in the nation - are closing in five days. That's supposedly the official word from the liquidator. So that would make Sunday Dec. 17 the final day for everybody. I asked her why they had an earlier closing date posted last week and she said they were estimating since they hadn't been given precise info from corporate and were going by earlier estimates. But December 17 is supposedly the confirmed date. She said some of the less popular stores had already closed and the better performing ones were going to the 17th in order to capitalize on the holiday shopping rush.

Oh and for fellow Hawaii residents, I hit the Kapiolani and Kahala Mall locations last night and they have the same discounts as the mainland: 70% off CD's, 60% off DVD's, $1.50 Rap CD's, 90% off Magazines. The CD's at both spots are pretty well picked over, but there's still some decent finds in the DVD's, including several Criterions. I picked up White Heat, Wyatt Earp (2-Disc SE), Up the Academy, Island in the Sky and Tightrope for myself, plus Bend of the River and Night Passage for my Dad, and a Hawaiian CD for my Mom. The whole lot cost me $49 and change.

This would make sense since the store nearby has a "only 6 days left sign" hanging out front.

The Dallas store has a sign that says "Last 9 Days", I believe the 21st will be their last day.

Have you confirmed that? Because my local Tower originally had signs up saying they were closing on the 15th and now it's the 17th. And the girl I spoke to (an actual manager) swore the 17th was a fixed date for all remaining Towers and that it was "direct from corporate". She sounded like she knew what she was talking about and not just talking out of her ass.
