"In The Line Of Fire" was one of Sony's first DVD releases, the disc I got at Big Lots appears to be a later printing (the ones made in 1997 had the "DVD" logo etched into the center of the disc) but it does still have the intro for the new format, which is cool to have if you don't already. "Legends of the Fall" probably has it too, if you can stand that movie.

and...
In The Line Of Fire is indeed anamorphic, the newer Special Edition also uses the same transfer according to one dvdtalk review.

As you say the packaging does not indicate that it is anamorphic so I'm glad to have someone here confirm that it really is.
This version is actually listed on the old DVD Review list of anamorphic widescreen DVDs, which also notes that it is OOP (for the past seven years to be exact): "This disc has been discontinued on 3/13/2001 and is no longer available in retail stores."

This ad will be in tomorrow's paper for $3, so you might want to go today if you missed these (or maybe attempt a pricematch elsewhere):

I hope my local Big Lots has the $3 DVDs especially the Panic Room one. I'm not holding out hope however since they have a really crappy selection. If it doesn't pan out , I'll be asking my friends in Grand Rapids to check out the 3 stores there. Here's hoping.....

Stopped by the closest Big Lots to me, Burien, WA...usually CRAP.
Today, TONS of Sony re-stock. They had one rack to easily browse through and one rack near check-out which was very poorly arranged on shelves. I hate that.
BUT...went for these, all for $3
Stand By Me (Deluxe) - they had a couple left
Godzilla (Monster Edition) - I may have got the only one
Casualties of War (Extended Cut)
Three Burials
Batman (1943 Serial) - I may have got the only one
Lots and lots of other stuff; most if not all of which has been named on this thread.

DVD Talk Legend
I just picked up the 3 disc SE of Panic Room, Black Hawk Down (theatrical cut), Breakout (Charles Bronson/Robert Duvall), and Bitter Victory (Richard Burton, directed by Nicholas Ray).
The last few months have been awesome as far as picking up some great stuff from Sony/Columbia/Tristar at Big/Lots!
I've picked up no less than 20 titles at $3.00 each!
And I saw The World is Not Enough SE, On Her Majesty's Secret Service SE, and Die Another Day (FS) at the Big Lots in Poway, CA. $4.00 each.

I had a good pull the other day...
3-Disc Panic Room
In Cold Blood
and
2-Disc MEMENTO Special Edition... You know, the blue one that looks like a file folder...
Haven't seen that one mentioned on here, so it was a pleasant surprise... but I've only read a few pages deep.
They also had a few bond flicks and a ton of anime... the store was in Douglasville, GA.

My Big Lots had new DVDs, but no Panic Room. Either they didn't get any or they were already gone. I'm hoping to have better luck in Grand Rapids tomorrow.

Great movie though. Worth the trouble

Yukikaze Vol 1
Infinite Ryvius Vol 4 change of command
Fantastic Children Vol 1 & 4

Man... the store near me had roughly 150 or so of the Sony titles early Wednesday afternoon and by Friday evening there were only 4-5 left! The selection is now worse than ever! People even picked up some of the kiddie stuff that had been sitting there for months! The quickness of these selling makes me wonder if they were purchased by "speculators" who sell 'em for a few dollars profit at Friday/Saturday "auctions" in the area. I see this a lot with certain titles at WM (anything with John Wayne, and most Millcreek sets).
