If you find another Sweet and Lowdown that's the WS/FS flipper, get it for me and I'll buy or trade you for it.

I bought my wife some chocolate by the register and went back to my car. She loved that chocolate so much, she had me go back inside and buy more. kg3, because of you finding Sweet and Lowdown in a WS/FS flipper I went back and looked for it in the WS/FS flipper with no luck. But I did find SUSPECT starring Cher and Dennis Quaid in the WS/FS flipper. All I ever saw of this movie was the FS only. Thanks.

I saw several Sweet and Lowdowns at this one store, but they all said Fullscreen on the back only, and I also saw another title Truth and Consequences, NM with Keifer Sutherland that was only in FS. I always thought it was in WS too. Are there two versions of these, one with WS?

There's apparently a flipper, which I didn't realize. That's the one I have and I didn't even know it.

Any idea how recently the HBO titles were made available through Big-Lots? There's a location near me that doesn't have any of these titles, is there hope that they will get a shipment eventually?

There's always a chance, but you never can tell when what will show up at which store.

With Biglots, YMMV, but with that said, I can tell you what I have seen in Southern California.

The latest Sony restock that included the superbits and Dark Crystal/Labyrinth started showing up about 10 to 12 days ago here in Southern California. Most stores I visited had at least several hundred dvds on display. Some stores had even more. Even as of today, most stores still have a wide selection of the Sony dvds available including the Gattaca and Johnny Mnemonic superbits.

The HBO dvds started showing up in the last 2 days or so. They seem to be the latest shipment of dvds. These shipments are smaller, only 1 copy of each title, about 50 per store. Not all stores have them yet. There may be stores that never get them because it seems that there are fewer of the HBO dvds to go around for distribution.

It is really tough to say if a particular store will ever get anything. I have one Biglots that is near me and I keep checking it, but all they have is public domain dvds and VHS movies. (These VHS have been sitting in the store for so long that the shrink wrap is turning yellow!)

Even though YMMV, good luck in finding the dvds you want!

P.S. This comment is for Sony. C'mon Sony, empty all your warehouses! Get rid of all your standard definition dvds and send them to Biglots. We have many DVDTalkers that are still coming up empty when they shop their local Biglots...

The Big Lots I visit must have had their delivery of HBO DVDs on Friday or Saturday, since I check often. They're just coming in...so keep checking your store.

So does Deep Sleep give you a photographic memory? I have trouble remembering 5 or 6 titles.

I did find Daybreak HBO (Moira Kelly) and Bridge of Dragons HBO (Dolph Lundgren), not yet mentioned.

I'm like you, I can only remember a few titles, so I cheat. While I am browsing the titles on the shelf/display, I use my cell phone and call my answering machine at home or voicemail at work and read off the titles and actors on the covers. When I get back to the office or home, I listen to my own messege and type it in here at DVDTalk. It's simple, but it works for me...

Modesto, CA

Hit the east side store today, they had twice as much as the other store. Funny thing tho was they had no room to put up a freestanding display, so they double stacked the cardboard cases up and down an endcap shelf. It was quite an operation to carefully pull out each upper case out to inspect the double levels of titles.

Acquired:
Johnny Mnemonic (superbit)
xXx (superbit)
Little Women (1994 movie packaged w paperback book)
and for a family member:
Groundhog Day SE
Joe Dirt

Guess I've done pretty well this weekend but hope I will find Hysterical Blindness or American Splendor

Finally found some HBO titles, but still no Angels in America. If anyone can find an extra one, I have extras of Spaceballs CE, Memento SE, The Dark Crystal SE, Labyrinth SE, Ali: Director's Cut and Capturing the Friedmans for trade. New, sealed and not loose.

The store near me is getting low on stock. About 8-9 days ago they got the big Sony pallet that was 3 layers thick and now theres hardly anything left. I'm hoping for a fresh batch with a Dark Crystal in it.

I got a haul of 20 DVDs today for a grand total of $63.60!

They were:

3-Iron
Auto Focus
The Comeback: The Complete Only Season
Elephant
Empire Falls
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Branagh)
Gattaca Superbit
Identitiy
In Cold Blood
Junebug
K Street: The Complete Series
Last Days
Lords of Dogtown: Theatrical Version
Maria Full of Grace
The Natural
Off the Map
One Day in September

They had Sweet and Lowdown, but only the FS versions.

ETA: If you see Wild Things, check to make sure it's the WS version. I accidentally bought the FS version, took it back, didn't find any WS versions and exchanged it for the XXX: Superbit DVD.
