Re: The Mean Season.

Has anyone watched or opened this one yet and can confirm whether it is anamorphic or not? Can't really find any DVD reviews for it so wasn't sure if the back cover just doesn't specify accurately or it is indeed non-anamorphic. The R2 MGM release is anamorphic.

Ugh. Didn't even think to worry about that one since it explicitly states it is on the back cover.

Thanks for that info and The Mean Season.

Minor restock at my BL today. About 50 HBO titles, approximately 1 of each. I bought K Street, The Changeling, Good Guys Wear Black & The Hitcher. A little bit disappointing because I keep hoping for a major restock like some others are seeing, but I guess I'll have to make do with my 50 or so DVDs that I have bought over the past couple of months!

I bought my wife some chocolate by the register and went back to my car. She loved that chocolate so much, she had me go back inside and buy more. kg3, because of you finding Sweet and Lowdown in a WS/FS flipper I went back and looked for it in the WS/FS flipper with no luck. But I did find SUSPECT starring Cher and Dennis Quaid in the WS/FS flipper. All I ever saw of this movie was the FS only. Thanks.
Yes, I definitely want to encourage people to be persistent and look at EVERY copy of a title you want. Some of the WS/FS flippers look identical in every way to the FS ones and just add the word Widescreen to the description! Just a few recent examples where I've seen TONS of FS per ONE WS/FS flipper are:

Sweet and Lowdown WS/FS (already mentioned)
Sheena WS/FS
Mrs. Winterbourne WS/FS
Whatever It Takes - Special Ed. WS/FS

Another title I haven't seen mentioned:

-Mom And Dad Save The World (1992-Jon Lovitz, Teri Garr, Kathy Ireland, etc.), it's one of the HBO Video titles, so it probably won't be too common.

I almost picked this up, then I noticed it was fullscreen. Egh...

Anyone have any luck finding a widescreen Truth or Conseqences N.M.?

Yes, I found a WS/FS flipper of Truth or Conseqences N.M.

As DVDTalker kg3 mentioned, look at every copy you are interested in. You never know when you will find a WS/FS flipper mixed in with a bunch of fullscreen only copies....

I find a lot more WS/FS Truth ors than I did Sweet and LD...most of the Truths seem to be WS flippers around here.

Still no Hitchhiker v2/3...though I've got an extra v1, heh

My copy of Mom And Dad Save The World said 16:9 on the back and I checked it and it is anamorphic W/S. I wonder if it could be one of the cropped fullscreen titles I've heard about as the shots seem close in. I haven't seen it before so I'm unsure - but it is definitely anamorphic.

Anyone have any more info? Amazon only lists a F/S (1.33:1) version. If anyone has the F/S version or VHS we could compare screenshots, I would like to figure this out and I can't because it isn't a flipper.

My Big Lots had a number of flipper copies of Still Crazy, another Sony title that was originally WS/FS but was later changed to fullscreen only. The flippers have 1.85:1 widescreen on the back, the FS only ones don't. I picked up that one, Talk to Her, and We Were Strangers (a John Garfield - Jennifer Jones vehicle, directed by John Huston) for $3 each.

Went to my Big Lots at Brookgate shopping center and they had the display. Found the widescreen flipper for Sweet and Lowdown (yeah!) but not Sheena (boo!) which were all full screen only. They had several of the superbit titles including Johnny Mnemonic (which I picked up), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (already have it), XXX and Gattaca (and already have it.). There were quite a variety of titles, most have been mentioned here. Was Another You or I Still Know What You Did Last Summer mentioned yet? Finally found a single copy of Real Women Have Curves and also In Cold Blood. Also grabbed Joe Dirt. I was disappointed to see that all DVDs of Suspect were full screen.

Wouldn't mind Gattaca...guess it's time for a checkup of BL since I haven't been there in several weeks.
