For those who did not get the NOV/DEC $20 Paypal rebate
Folks, I don't know about you. But I'm tired of Paypal's ignoring my repeated request for payout of this overdue rebate. This is a marketing promotion they had advertised with an official press release article! And now they're playing games with us and coming up with all sorts of excuse for not paying up.
I think it's time to hold them accountable for this. I suggest everyone who has not received the rebate to file a complaint to the California State Attorney Office, BBB, and FTC to expose their fraud. When they have received enough complaints on this, I'm sure these agencies will take action. Then, and only then, will Paypal know we're serious and we're not here to play games with them.
California State Attorney Office online complaint form
FTC consumer complaint form
Better Business Bureau complaint form
Another thing we should do is write to newspapers, TV news stations, and online news sites. I'm sure a lot of them would be interested in hearing about this story. Let's get some publicity going on this scheme of wire fraud.

Beware of how some stores ship. I made a $35 purchase at bn.com using PayPal to get this rebate. Unfortunately, BN shipped my order in 2 different packages and took the money from PayPal as they shipped, so while I was authorized for a $35 order - it cleared at $27 and $8. Wrote to PP, and they said it has to be over $30.
So, while I followed the rules, I won't get the rebate and couldn't have done anything about it.

I got the email Thursday (finally) telling me about the promotion. When I went to sign up, it said I was already signed up.
But I noticed that there was something new... (which isn't there now) that says the eligible purchase must be $30 BEFORE taxes and shipping...
Now if you go to sign up, it says INCLUDING taxes and shipping...
?????

FYI - theres a $10 off $40 coupon for BN currently. I bought $42 worth of stuff for $17 with both combined.

you wont get anywhere. You will just be one of many. I'm not saying you shouldn't file a complaint but it wont help with anything.

However, I signed up for this offer via a banner ad on the PayPal homepage, input my e-mail address, and it went through. I know it's only $15, but I think on principal alone I'd fight this one hardcore if they try to screw me.

Yea, looks like im going to have trouble with this as mentioned earlier Re: Barnes and Noble charging as items shipped. Total order of $32, but split between a $27 charge and a $5 charge. Last two emails from paypal say im not eligible, but i wrote a 3rd.
I also asked BN.com if there was any chance they could refund the two charges and recharge me for $32. Not that I expect that to happen, but worth a shot.

Be prepared to fight, they screwed me. The first PP rebate (spend $50 or more, receive a $20 rebate) I was qualifed to get (received the proper e-mails from PP, bought an almost $100 DVD set on BN.com) has NOT arrived in my PP in-box (and it is ridiculously WAY overdue, more than several weeks overdue...like I said, WAY overdue).
Basically, unless I am involved in an eBay transaction, I will NEVER use PP to pay for other on-line purchases...they screwed me, and lost a customer of their checkout process using other sites (if getting people to use your checkout services was not a big deal, Google would not be offering their own deals...which rock by the way, an instant rebate at the point of purchase is the way the PP rebate should have worked).
Did I mention that they screwed me over...I think I mentioned it a couple of times in this post.

I tried and don't quality either.
If you click on the "terms and agreement" on the page, you will see the following...
You are only eligible for this offer if you receive this offer in an email sent to you directly from PayPal or if you registered for this offer between 2/8/07 and 2/15/07 2pm EST.
so if you didn't get an email, you can still quality ONLY if you regsitered during that time period. No point in complaining.

I sent an e-mail to paypal asking a question about the rebate. In their reply they stated some of the above conditions (the opt-in dates being 2/8 to 2/15). But then they had the following...
To confirm your eligibility for this promotion, please go to
https://www.paypal.com/spring07rebate and enter your PayPal address. You
will receive an instant notification informing you whether or not you
qualify.
I followed those instructions and entered an address in just last week. My instant notification said something along the lines of go ahead and shop! I just went to that link now and entered that same address in -- it comes back with you've already registered -- now go shop and get extra savings.
Guess we'll wait and see how this works out...
