For what it's worth, I already received the complete Twlight Zone set I ordered on Saturday (with free shipping, no less). Great service!

I used both the in-store and the online coupons. I had to get Sopranos S6P2 shipped to home by buying it in store to get the online price. I bought the Kubrick set online. Total for the two, shipped and including tax: $60.22. Total list: $179.90. Wow.

I thought of getting the Harry Potter book set but I went to Amazon and saw everyone complaining about the cheap cardboard box. I looked at it at B&N and it is indeed a piece of crap.

I planned to use my in-store coupon for a ship to home order, but never got around to it. Now I'm kinda bummed they raised the prices on the remaining items I want. But at least I got X-Files at Stargate at 30% off...

Got Seinfeld and X-files, but was planning on about 5 or 6 more. Maybe the prices will go back down. I think this expires in about two weeks. I know I say it, but am too lazy to search the thread.

I want to buy the X-files ultimate set, but is it worth waiting to see if the price dips a little bit first? Or will it only continue to go up?

Who knows, but I remember last spring I was watching the price of Planet Earth for preordering at 20-30% off, and at one point while it was in the top 5 bestsellers, it went to full price and stayed there for a while.

It is a gamble either way, and I don't want to influence your decision in case I am wrong. All I'll say is, B&N apparently knows their coupon has been heavily used, which must be why they raised the price up on practically every high priced item. They could do it again. They might not. Personally, I don't think it will drop again while it is a pre-order. But come release day, you never know... Whatever you choose, you're taking a chance. I wish you luck in making the right decision...

They do this change of the prices on all their products even when they don't have a coupon out there like this. It will probably cycle back to 30 percent before the coupon expires. But it is a gamble as others have said.

I just signed up for a B&N membership. My number was hooked up to my online account almost immediately. I purchased Star Trek Voyager complete series for $289.43 using the 50%! Online price is $655.98.

But then I got an email saying "Your Immediate Attention is Required for Your Barnes & Noble Order #". Apparently, their "... automated system has identified a situation that may prevent us from processing your order."

It goes on to say:
"We will continue to attempt to process your order; however we may require additional information from you. We therefore ask that you contact us as soon as possible. If we are unable to process your order within a week, it will be canceled.

Please email us at [email protected] or call 1-877-379-0036 Mon-Fri between the hours of 8:30am - 5:00pm EST. If you are calling from outside the United States, call 212-414-6024. Please be sure to have the credit card you used to place the order available when contacting us."

Anyone know what that's about. I've used this Mastercard online before and its never been a problem. The card has plenty of credit and I'm current on payments.

In fact, I just called the Master and they said the charge has already been approved!

The "cycle" as you put it has always been due to a fluctuating sales rank. The lower the rank, the higher the discount. But these items all are still ranked VERY low. They should be at 30% still, but they are not, so I'm not optimistic they will cycle back. But I hope you are right...

Turns out it was my cc authorization. Its gone through.
I called them for no reason. Give it 24 hrs, they said
their that's their turn around time to get the authorization
if it doesn't come right away. I checked online this morning
and my order status now says "not yet shipped".

I just signed up for a membership and have a Mastercard, but am unsure of which way to go. I'm not too familiar with B&N's sale periods or pricing fluctuations. Maybe someone can help me out and recommend the better deal?

I Love Lucy - The Complete Series
Currently $75.51 before tax

Die Hard Collection Blu-ray - Wide Screen
Currently $51.99 before tax

Lucy is showing up at 20% off. Could I possibly find a better deal later on if I wait for a TV set sale?

May I ask, how are you finding this at $75.51 before tax? I show that the Lucy - Complete Series Member price is $180.52, so the final price after the 50% off coupon would be $90.26 (before tax).

I think that's an excellent price. DeepDiscount has it for $146.39 right now, so even waiting until their 20% off sale would only bring it down to $117.11 (and that's only if DD doesn't jack the price up).

There is an extra 10% member discount applied. But I see that they raised the price some time during the day. The online price now only has a 15% discount.

I shouldn't have waited! But then again, I'm wondering if it will go back down tomorrow?

Looks like many of these higher priced titles have already risen. Berlin Alexanderplatz and Ford at Fox, both of which were 30% the other day, are now only 20% off. Still a good deal, but definitely not as good as it was...

Looks like it's gone up, current price:
Members Pay: $242.99

I was gonna get a membership a few days ago when it was $95 after 50% off, but I didn't pull the trigger soon enough. Now I'm not so sure.

So far, the coupon is working a bit oddly. It is taking 50% of the normal price off of the member price.

Couldn't stand it any more. Signed up for my membership. Guess I'll go on a buying spree when it clears.

the prices are really like share market fluctuations.

Gilmore girls sets drop from 30% off to 10% off overnight

Seinfeld drop from 20% to 15% overnight.

Luckily i got in on the Gilmore girls before the drop in discount

Ended up paying a bit more for Seinfeld but at overall still the best price i could hope to get at the moment ......
