For me in Canada, 2 reasons:

1) To lower the Postage. An order over $300.00 cost $99.95 postage. If I divide it into 3 orders - It's $16.95 postage per order ($50.85).

2) Ordering from the US our packages will cross the border. One big order (high value) will definately be pulled out by Customs and assessed GST (Goods and Services Tax (Federal)) and PST (Provincial Sales Tax) (13% total), and $5.00 handling fee. If I split it up one or two may (hopefully) pass through Customs and not be assessed any charges. It has worked many times in the past.

For me, there seems to be a psychological barrier to committing to one or two huge orders. There are certain titles I know I want and I want to be sure they go thru. Then there are others that I have to mull over for a while.

Another reason is that the longer the sale goes on, the more likely it is I'll find more things I want to see that I never thought of before or had just forgotten about. It may be wiser to wait till the last day of the sale to place that one big final order, but then something might happen- power or internet outage,etc and I'd be screwed.

Ideally I would like to receive only a couple big boxes, but so many titles seem to be backordered this sale, it wouldn't seem to matter if I place one order or twenty. I'm still likely to get twenty different boxes as various things are re-stocked.

If I ordered everything on my wishlist it would be around $4000. So I have to pick and choose. I buy a few that are just totally obvious buys for me right at the beginning usually since that early order ships fast. Then I'll usually place another order or two after looking at my list a few more times, comparing prices a bit more, and reading lists here (although I haven't really gotten any ideas from here this time, usually I do).

I might want a certain specific thing so I get that first. I might go back a couple of times if I decide I want something else. Since it's free shipping it's not like I'm out any extra shipping charges.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does ordering this way! I'm often surprised at just how much I've spent when I add up those 1-4 (+-) orders... If I did it all at once I don't think I would be as inclined to order as much.

That's strange. In fact, I emailed them about the wrong shipping charge during one of the 20% sale last year. (check this post and this ). Later I received an email (too bad that I didn't keep it) saying that they always calculate the shipping charge based on the merchandise values before the discount.

They had been doing this in the last sales, at least since 2006 when I started to buy from them. Now they admit that they did it wrong!? Can I get a refund from the last-year sales?

Does anyone know if The Beast - Special Extended Edition (1996) that is on Amazon.com with a run time of 180m is the same one that is being offered on Deepdiscount's site (their description for The Beast says 115m)?

Peter Bencheley's The Beast was a fun TV mini-series that stared Karen Silas, and William Petersen (from CSI), and I would love to pick this up (I was so excited when Alligator finally came out DVD, this is that type of DVD release, something I have been waiting to come out uncut on DVD for many, many years). Thanks in advance to anyone who can confirm.
