Pretty much the same story here.

Just glad to finally have The Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection

I live in Northwest Washington and I haven't had a single order delivered yet. It usually takes a week with the free shipping. I'm glad to here that you all have experienced similar delays. I'm not complaining because I am way, way to cheap to ever pay for faster shipping...and I have probably 300 discs I haven't even opened, let alone the ones I just haven't watched yet, so I'm not in any big rush.

But this is what I'm looking like with my order status

Shipped
6/6
6/14
6/17
6/18
6/20

Without sales tax or shipping these could arrive at Christmas and I'd still be happy (concerned, but happy).

not surprising this "deal" was extended

not to long ago there would be multiple threads in this forum at least double the length of this [solo] one

even though blu was included in this sale I'm thinking the demand for 20% off dvds just isn't very interesting to people anymore ... especially in this economy

Or maybe people have just been lazy to post, like me?

They've extended this sale in the past.

IIRC, these sales originally would run for 10 days. That shorter length was one reason for the 'mad dash' mentality that seemed to accompany them. I believe it was only as far back as the Fall sale of 2006, where the response seemed sluggish (as estimated by the threads here) and they did the unthinkable of extending it to cover TWO tuesday new release days...which is now taken as the normal length. To my memory, this sale has never run for 25 days in the past...ever.
I'm not complaing it all, just pointing out

I think Blu prices make for less blind buys. In the past I would blind buy a lot of DVDs during these sales based on DVDTalkers opinions and whatnot. With Blu's higher prices to begin with, I think you have to second guess "maybe this one's just worth a rental."

This may be my first DD Sale ever where I did not make a second order. Be it my finances aren't in the best shape, I'm just leaving stuff on the Wish List for November to see if anything drops in base price.

My order came Friday. Everything was in fine condition except the only dvd set I ordered for my wife "Tropical Heat sweating bullets". It's kind of strange because the shipping box was in great shape all my other dvd's were fine. With her set the slip cover which holds three dvd cases looked fine but the cases were all busted were you snap them close and there are 3 dvd's in each case on little hinges, the hinges were broken in two cases. The discs were loose and scratched up from all the broken plastic floating around in the cases with them. The third case had floating discs and were also scratched up. Guess I'll have to call them Monday and see about a replacement. I've just never seen this amount of damage and the outer slip cover look undamaged.

I think the excitement has just topped off because there are several great sales year-round by DD and several other places now. It's still a great deal for several titles but it's no longer the single best place to get any and every title for a steal.

That said, I'm happy they extended the sale. If memory serves this is the longest they've had one go.

It's because the DVDs are thrown around like frisbees in the DeepDiscount warehouse. I swear to God they have monkeys in that place, receiving orders.

Take into consideration I have 8 orders which were placed from a store in Canada. They take about 7-9 days to get here. When I received each and every order, the HD DVDs I received were in perfect condition. And we're talking HD DVDs which were put only in a bubble envelope, positioned in two stacks of 4 movies next to each other. I had one floater out of all 8 orders.

This kinda tells me all the damage which happens to orders from DeepDiscount happens within their warehouse.

I would even place my bets on damaged cardboard boxes and single cardboard boxes, are also damaged before the USPS or UPS even gets them.

I think the orders are stacked recklessy, negligently, and without much regard to how much money the customer is paying for them. When the boxes of orders are picked up by the postal carriers, they are already damaged.

I'd be curious just to talk to UPS and the USPS who pick up these large shipments. I'd bet I'd get some interesting information.

Duh, of course you're right. It's been so long since a preorder I wanted overlapped with a 20% off sale that I forgot that I had to wait for the release date for those titles.

Gosh, you'd think I was a n00b. I better get back to the Euro 2008 thread before I'm missed. (Go Italy!)

Got my Godzilla flicks yesterday! Wow, the "Godzilla Collection" set is awesome!

Each of the 7 movies in this set are presented in BOTH the original Japanese and the edited/dubbed American version. Plus lots of special features. Well worth the $43 ($53.66 less 20%) I paid. Highly Recommended Thanks DD!

Thanks for the pics of this set! I'd been wondering how it was packaged. It's interesting to see that they simply took the individual releases and put them in a pretty cool box. Now I just have to decide whether or not to double-dip on a couple to get the box and sell the extras.

Most 'complete series' TV sets are overpriced. Most of them (e.g. Friends) were for $120 couple of years ago.

True, but I usually hold back to the end of the sale (last couple of days) to see what's in stock, what others have taken or recommend, etc. I'm still holding off on some.

Not much for me anymore Just picked up Justice League Unlimited Season 2 and Caligula (3 DVD) set. I've seen Caligula before and it was abysmal but those special features with the set are too good for me to pass up. I'll probably watch it with the commentaries and the 3rd disc and sell it on amazon/half for $15 and take the $5 loss.

You could just netflix it, it seems you can rent the movie and two volumes (discs?) of bonus material from there.
