Disney Movie Club part 5
#203
I found this forum a few days ago and just been reading through it, and decided to join tonight to tell you all thank you! I have been thinking about joining the DMC for a few years now, but never got around to it, but after I saw your enrollment codes I did. I just ordered Cars, Fox and Hound, Mary Poppins, Toy Story, Dumbo, and Pocahontas, can't wait until they arrive!

I know the Disney club says they don't take visa debit cards but I tried to join with mine the other night anyway. I don't know if it will go through but the $15.95 total is a pending debit in my checking account, has anyone tried and succeeded with a debit card? I still have not gotten an email from them so I don't know if it will work or not. If it doesn't I will join the old fashion way; send a check for the amount.

Why do they claim to not take Visa debit cards?

Well I can't find it right now, but it used to say no debit cards, not specifically visa, just not a debit card, how long from the time you placed your order was it until you received the conformation email?

Ok here it is...
When you join the Disney Movie Club, you may provide us with your credit card information (website accepts credit card orders only). You will be charged only for the movies that you order (including Featured Title shipments) plus shipping and processing. We will not charge your credit card until the date of shipment. Sorry, we do not accept debit cards or check cards at this time
I tried it anyway because I think someone posted on this forum a long time ago that they tried their debit card and it was accepted.

I placed my order on 3/20, received a welcome to the club email on 3/24 and a shipping confirmation email on 3/27. Again, this was with a Visa debit card.
I have no idea why they say they won't take debit cards. It sure looks like they took mine without any argument.

So your email was 4 days later, then I guess I need to be patient and just wait and see, if it does go through ok then the $15.95 should be officially posted to my account tomorrow. Thanks for your reply.

When they say debit cards don't they just mean debit cards? Like the card itself, and when you have a visa symbol on it its considered a credit card *I mean still a debit card but you can use it just like a credit card*, at least hopefully because I used mine to. I would just read that as they don't accept plain debit cards.

Well this order didn't go through for me, the charge was not posted to my account, but it could be because I used a code that was no longer valid. I tried again today and this time just used what they were offering, the charge is pending on my account so it's wait and see again.

Ok I was wrong, the $15.95 order did indeed go through, at least I have recieved a welcome to the club email and a list of the movies I ordered. YAY! I'm in.
Guess I should have been more patient but maybe they will just cancel the other order, if they don't them oh well, I will take it too, cause I LOVE the disney classics and some are hard to find anywhere else.

The Visa logo doesn't necessarily mean it's used as a credit card, just that it's accepted just like a Visa card. Merchants shouldn't even know the difference between a Visa credit card and a Visa branded debit card.

I think they need to make that a bit more clear on their website, I had forgotten that there are debit cards that are strictly just that, and I agree that is probably what they mean, I am just glad I am accepted. I think once I complete my commitment I will stay a member since I have seen lots of good codes for VIP members.

Yes! Happy for you HyperWeather, I have enjoyed looking around the site to see what they've got. They have a lot of the old classics but not all of them I want, like The Child of Glass and the Disney specials they used to run on tv once a week, but maybe they will have new available soon. They haven't deducted the $15.95 from my account yet but I don't think they would send me the welcome email with my order information and a member number if I wasn't approved, can't wait to get my introductory package.

Do they have lots of Buena Vista & Miramax titles available on the site? I noticed the "Chicago: Razzle Dazzle Edition" is one of the enrollment titles available but searched for Sin City and didn't come with anything. Would they have anything like that on the site once you become a member?
