Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

With Blu-rays and pre-orders being excluded, I'm going to sit this one out. I still appreciate the code, C&C.

This has been going on all week with the triple points just added yesterday. But without blu-rays it's useless to many of us. Maybe they'll be added but I doubt it. Sooner or later there will be another good blu-ray sale.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

I am looking to finish my obligation but I would like to get a good price. Most of the prices are pretty high and cheaper on amazon. So I am looking for a code that could save me some money ? I am interested in Blu-Ray and im not against buying a set. If I purchase a bluray on sale for $20 but the regular price is over $35 does that only count as one ?

For a selection to count as 2 fulfillments it must have a "regular" price of $39.95 or higher.

And you're not looking at it right. To get the correct price of a fulfillment you must also factor in those selections you got "free" for joining. The down and dirty way is to simply divide your final cost by the number of selections, but that's not entirely accurate. A well optimized 7:2 account should have an average cost of ~$4.80 for a DVD so you would would multiply that $4.80 for every DVD purchased and subtract that from the total cost of your membership to get the imputed cost of that fulfilling set. *Anything* you've purchased that doesn't count towards a fulfillment is overkill and quite possibly caused you to overpay in the final assessment.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

That's true. To start with I got I think 5 blurays for $0.49 each. So that was a good deal.
But now that I have to pay full price it's not so great. I find it hard to pay $25-$30+ shipping
when I can go to amazon and pay $20-$25 with prime shipping. Plus they charge insane shipping costs and then ship media mail. I dont wana pay high shipping costs and then watch them ship media mail and wait over a week for the package. If they are gonna ship media mail they should not be charging prices high eneough to be Priority mail. I should have thought about all of this beforehand but I was blinded by the $0.49 bluray's :-)

^

I don't think that you can go to Amazon and get 5 Blu-rays for $2.45.

BTW, CH offers free shipping quite often.

That's the way I normally do it. But with the CH glitch, you can fulfill with one title with MSRP of 39.95 or above. Then I would just add everything up and divide by total # of items. It actually works out less per item.

Something I found interesting. CH lists an animated movie, "Brave" on their website.

Whats going on here? It's one thing to list the Avengers, which is a Disney property, but it's another thing entirely to list a movie that was born, bred and distributed by the great mouse.

What gives here?

Interesting - this works on that gigantic Harry Potter Wizarding collection...bringing it down to the still heartbreaking price of $225 (from $500 retail....and $345 at Amazon right now).

a couple of other prices...

Bond 50: $134.98 + shipping
Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection $134.98 + shipping

Strange. It's not working for me. I tried entering the code manually and also tried using the link in the e-mail. The 55% offer shows up at the top of the screen, but the prices aren't reflecting the discount.

Hmmm...now that Bond price is tempting.....thx for posting.

...your price must have been DVD as BLU-RAY is $135.....

Ok, the first time I tried, I was on a PC using the IE browser. I tried again from my iPad, and the code is working.

You are right, sorry for the mistake. I will go correct my post.

edit: Not a bad deal on either of the two sets I posted. Makes them both comparable to the UK prices.

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

I thought I read that the Hitchcock set is delayed... I'm all over the Bond price, however! Ordering now to lock in the price. I'll attempt to open a new account, then fulfill with Bond, but I don't want to wait in case they kill the code too quickly...

EDIT: Never tried this before. But after I enrolled for a new account, it let me shop right away. So I ordered Bond on the new account immediately, even though I haven't really been approved yet. Curious what would happen if they decide to deny my account for some reason... This is the first time I signed up for a 7/2 but only purchased 6. I figured it will count as 3 fulfillments, so I didn't need to buy one for 9.99...

Re: Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part VI

Tried to use the code on the Bond set (BD), but instead of a 55% discount, the price jumped from $179 to $299.99 (list price).

I've got the set ordered from AmazonUK at a similar price but would rather have the US version (in addition to the bonus points). If they had a better offer than DVDs for $11.99, that would also be nice.

I'm using Firefox...someone else said the code didn't work for them using IE, so haven't tried that yet.

It worked for me yesterday, but I just tried it on my other account now, and you are correct. They have apparently disabled it from box sets now. Glad I jumped on it right away yesterday... Wish I had ordered the Hitchcock set, too. That also no longer works... I had already ordered the fancy UK box set, so wasn't sure which way to go...

I just realized that it was only giving 50% off of the club price, not 55%. But it was still a damn good price...

I'm using IE, and the 55% off is working just fine on my account for the Bond set and the Hitchcock set.

wow, that was quick. I was contemplating pre-ordering a couple of titles but waited to see if they would sweeten the deal(as they sometimes do).

Oh well, at least I did get in an order for the Bond 50 set the other day.
