[Edit - Oops, I was looking at Big Trouble in Little China, not Romper Stomper]

I also noticed some copies of the very rare 2-disc LE of Army of Darkness going for $10-15 on ebay, even though DVDs123 is paying $37 for it.

We could add The Sting to this list now, as the price for it is going up on eBay now.

I dunno - I am seeing new copies at amazon and half.com for $15 from sellers who appear to be legit, though Deep discount doesn't stock it.

Oh by the way - I seem to have flooded the market for Blues Brothers at DVDs123.com - I sold them 3 copies last week for $55 each, today I noticed they dropped the price to $22.

On a separate note - I have seen a few DVDs where an original bare-bones or 1-disc release has held decent value, even after the release of a multi-disc special edition.

For example, I recently sold a copy of the original Pulp Fiction which I had bought at a pawn shop for $5 to DVDs123 for $10 (along with a bunch of others), while they are only paying $8.40 for the 2-disc CE.

I also have a couple copies of the OOP Universal release of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - at one time, DVDs123 was paying $1 more for it than the Criterion release, though that is no longer the case.

Even now, they are paying $1 more for the old FS Chariots of Fire than for the new 2-disc release.

I am sure it has to with their cost on the newer editions, but for them to pay $10 or more for a DVD there has to be some demand for it - their wholesale price is usually 1/2 - 2/3 of the going market price.

Someone the other day had mentioned to me that the old version of Scarface was still selling for a very high price because it has a commentary which is not present on the newer Anniv Edition - but I don't see any info on this, though the CE is still bringing $15.60 from DVDs123 vs $9 for the newer one.

Pawn shops are the best when trying to find OOP titles at bargain prices.

You might want to look again, I tend to believe that there is no holofoil cover for "The Car". I have one of the first ones from Anchor Bay and it is not a holofoil cover. Do you have a picture?

You guys must just get lucky, I've been to a few and they've had nothing but the usual BBV pre-viewed fare and the Wal-Mart bin.

I found two copies of The Last Days of Disco at a pawn shop for only $5 each recently.

I'll be the first to admit that I get beyond lucky at Pawn Shops. I'm talking, Criterion releases of Rushmore and the OOP Silence of the Lambs for $5-6, the OOP Casino, Finding Nemo and a couple of other Disney releases, numerous 2-disc special editions for that $5-6 price (Dances with Wolves, Boyz N The Hood, Boogie Nights, Fight Club, Se7en, A Room With a View, etc), boxed sets (the Sleepaway Camp set for $10 comes to mind), TV Series (first two seasons of The Sopranos for $25 each), etc.

I make frequent runs, at least once a week, to many different locations just to see if they have anything new in stock...but yeah, I've definitely gotten lucky. Sometimes, though, it just takes persistence and a willingness to sift through piles of shit week in and week out looking for that one gem.

Back on topic: you might want to update The Karate Kid and Raging Bull...since their new releases are causing the OOP prices to see substantial drops.

Oh, and one last thing: the Romper Stomper disc you're talking about...is that the one with the yellow-ish cover? If so, they've got a copy of it for $6.99, used, at my local Hastings. If it's the disc I'm thinking of, and it fetches good prices on eBay, I may run pick it up.

Edit: one last last thing...you might want to add the Anchor Bay release of Dead Ringers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/off...?condition=all

You're absolutely right, it must have been the light. They use a silver ink that for some reason looked reflective to me. Regardless, it's a nifty cover.

Added Dead Ringers, deleted Raging Bull, Karate Kid has been gone for a while.

Found Return of the Pink Panther at Gamestop for $6.99. Happy that I finally get to watch it, since I hadn't had the heart to break open any of the 3 sealed copies I had (2 of which I sold to DVDs123 for $33, but I guess I flooded the market because now they are paying $16).

Also added To Kill a Mockingbird - I found a copy at Gamestop for $8.99, I seemed to recall hearing that it was valuable but it wasn't on my list. Looked it up when I got back and it was a pretty nice find.

Deleted Apollo 13 DTS - it has dropped sharply since the new SE was announced.

Added Peter Pan - Mary martin version from Goodtimes video. I usually skip Goodtimes DVDs when I see them because most are crappy transfers done from public domain, but this one seems to be ultra-rare - cheapest price on Amazon or Half is $240.

You should remove Dragonheart - DTS....it's readily available on ebay and half for about 8 bucks. These look like legit auctions, too.

Some of those are "Buy It Now" for 10 bucks. Not bad, maybe time for me to order a copy.

Looks like it's back in print - Amazon has it new for $17.98.

Because of this thread, when I was in Gamestop, I noticed "The Car" for $6.99...

I have no interest in owning this dvd but I wonder if it is worth buying and putting on ebay...

You can buy it for $6.99.

On eBay, as you know, it's worth a great deal.

You need someone to hold your hand and make that decision for you? If you don't put it on eBay, at least buy it and put it in the DVD Treasure Hunt thread to let someone here have it for that $6.99 price.

Damn - looks like they are re-releasing Star Wars Ep I and II on March 22, list $19.99, Amazon price $13.99. Sell 'em if you got 'em. I just grabbed a fullscreen ep I today at a pawn shop for $5 - a couple weeks ago I could have sold it to DVDs 123 for ~$23, now it is $9.50.

Yep, it was announced about 2 months ago. Nothing new to the movies, just bringing them back at a lower price.

Anyone know why this version of The Evil Dead II is so high? The details are sketchy.

Amazon

I'd think it's supposed to be the tin version, except that one of the sellers wrote this: "used has no box plays fine thanks for looking!"

I say, chalk it up to stupid Internet sellers.
